Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Downloading. Probably buying if I like it enough. I like what I hear, loved Saint's Row 2 for mindless actiony fun, this sounds like it's going to provide me with a similar amount of lulz and fun rampages where I kick everyone's ass (and also get my ass kicked when trying too dicky shit).

I just played first level of the game. Its nothing like first red faction but its fun to jump around and destroy some things. Altough this game is a CPU whore. Something big falls of and you're framerate is down to 5 ;) Im not really sure if part of the calculations is done by GPU.

Try turning off anti aliasing and turning down particle quality. I don't think it's the physics doing it, I think it's the massive bursts of dust. It'll still dip but not as much.

I don't think it supports hardware physx which is fucking RETARDED for this game.

Runs incredibly solid for my gtx275 otherwise

Well, I kinda overexaggerated. Its not that bad actually, the lowest I get is 20 fps from 50-60ish. Its still their fault. Even the biggest explosion isnt excuse for a 40fps drop.

BTW: The technology behind the destruction in this game isnt anything new, but it first appears on such big scale. The so called geo-mod in the first game was a breaktrough though, dynamically modified terrain still isnt avaible in any other game.

Anyways, apparently the reason you can smash buildings down with the hammer is because, like the Super Sledge, some star trek science increases the force of the blow to a thousand pounds or something. This doesn't explain why you can bash a building down with the back end of a plastic assault rifle though.

Incidently, like in the other thread I started aboot the game - the multiplayer is pretty okay when it goes right, but for some reason I often get pushed into a team with the most stupidest gibbons imaginable. They're actually maliciously stupid - teammates trying to destroy buildings with the repair gun, hammer-charging shotgun-armed enemies, and often being completely unable to defend siege targets to the point of folding like a deck of cards a minute into the game.

And this is the team I'm on when I have around fifty kills and two deaths; the one or two enemies that do trundle through my "shoot them with guns" defense tactic will often destroy whole objectives unchecked despite the way the HUD gives you ample warning a building is under attack.

These people will one day be allowed to vote.

Review... they say it's hard... awesome!

It's only hard when the game's enemy volume bugs out and drops fifteen APCs full of white supersoldiers armed with christmas light beam ("gauss") guns; I didn't really notice a difference in armament or tactics or even health across difficulties, only volume.

Well son of a bitch, pirated this to see how the PC version is. Performance is much, much better than Saints Row 2, but it has the similar Saints Row 2 bug/quirk of running at 1.5 or double speed. All the animations and shit are really fast, and driving and running speeds are cranked up.

Don't know what the hell is causing it but if anyone comes up with a solution for either/both games I'd be happy.

This game is boring ass. It's as much of a demolition simulator as Morrowind is a hiking sim. Gets boring fast.

If people want a new game to play, get Need for Speed Shift. Best NFS since part 1, since it had the GTR guys working on it and isn't a stupid arcade ricer.

Okay if you're having issues with really bad stuttering when buildings fall, try running the game in a window.
Things will be generally slower but if it works it won't be as ridiculous of a drop.

This might also fix the fast forward shit. Also try to force vsync in the nvidia/ati panel

Something's weird about this game. Some people with relatively medium-spec systems are running it great, some people with core i7s and shit are getting terrible drops. Better than saints row 2, but... ehhhh... I think a patch might be coming soon but who knows.

Apparently a quad core helps, but the game is definitely optimized for dual core. Core 1 for physics and Core 0 for everything else. Windows has a system in place for divvying up the workload in any program automatically, but I can't imagine it affects things that much. I've also heard of quad core users having framerate dips as well.

Tried running Guerrilla windowed and with vsync forced on in the driver, still going at fast speed. It's playable at that speed, just not optimal.

Still goddamn irritating though. After buying SR2 and getting an unplayable mess, I pirate Guerrilla to check it out and find the performance is quite good, and it in fact runs TOO fast. Not sure if it's because I'm in Windows 7, or 64 bit, or a combination of the two, or some other mysterious thing.

I think it is a problem with windows 7

Been doing some research on it. Apparently there's a trainer that fixes the problem since Volition doesn't want to patch their game (laughing out loud) but it seemingly doesn't like my pirated version of RFG, so I'm out of luck.

That game is quite a lot of fun. Playing it now. Love the destructible environments. Generally, I gotta agree with what Annie said.

I'm playing Guerilla on PC, but with an Xbox 360 controller since the mouse controls as usual with ports are absolute shit, with mouse lagg and a limit to turn speed, which make my wrist strain and actually hurt. The game is awesome though. I can't remember the last time I played an action game this "dynamic", or where in there is as much room for tactics. Beneath it's faults and consolish design, there's a brilliant mix of game mechanics.

It's very different from what I imagined the game to be. I thought the core of the game would be about defeating your enemies by using large amounts of explosives on the buildings they were taking cover in, but it's really the other way around. In the open you can be swarmed and surrounded and killed in seconds as soon as the enemies have gotten reinforcements. Even when you are inside a building you even need to beware of accidentally making a hole in a wall, because an enemy might use it to shoot you in the back later, or five soldiers might swarm in and beat you to death. Personally I often destroy stairs and parts of the floor so that the enemy can't follow or surround me. Enemies are also often in such numbers that you have to retreat and attack from or in a different way. Hell, most of the time I'm retreating or avoiding enemies.

There are so many possible scenerios. For example I've driven into a base, avoided it's Omaha beach style defenses, jammed the vehicle into the only entrance of the main building, destroyed it from within while an army is gathering outside, fought a pretty hopeless battle together with some well timed allied reinforcements with only debris as cover, and then escaped by blowing a hole through the base wall and stealing an enemy vehicle. And that's not even part of a mission. The game is changing the further you go too. The enemies eventually start using gauss rifles which with bursts can punch holes through walls, making much cover temporary. The limited jetpack that you get greatly helps when navigating buildings that become damaged in the more intense fighting.

Runs on my rig great, and it's pretty fun at the moment.

I always turn off all Shadows options, but then bump up the rest of the settings. Kept particles on low here, though. Particles always kill a game's FPS.

Yep works great here as well - apparently people with dualcores have a lot of problems, but with my Q9550 it's all good... The destructive environments are simply the best in any game ever made, but in other respects it's pretty mediocre overall. Enjoyed it nevertheless, and looking forward to what the modders can accomplish (there's a few minor mods already out).

It's weird because the game wasn't optimized for quad core at all

no mouse lag or sluggy controls in my game, and it sure is a lot better without an xbox controller, unlike batman.
