Cool-looking game, kinda like a more unscrupulous Covert Action.

Your LPs have been fire lately. Loving the old, usually flawed, political DOS games. Do you know Crisis in the Kremlin?

Floor 13 is awesome, although kind of difficult to understand what you're supposed to be doing. Usually I just abuse FAQs. I love how cynical the game is, with most of the dialogue conveyed through profanity and the PM yelling at you.

A remake is also in the works apparently, but has been for some time now: https://agriculture-and-fisheries.tumblr.com/

Also, there's a different aspect of the game:

don't click if playing for the first time (open)
You sometimes get assignments from a different employer, the Illuminati-style secret society that your main character is secretly a part of. Not sure if you've encountered that yet. Their tasks often conflict with your assignments for the British government.

    Yeah, that site is nice.

I hadn't actually seen the exploit in the videos before. My quarantine ennui is now getting to the point where I'll watch guys play a game while talking in a language I can barely understand for >2 hours. Thanks!

If I understand correctly, the idea is that you simply keep pumping money into raw materials, the excess is then sold off, allowing you to finance other departments and keeping the Warsaw Pact and USSR intact? Also I never realised that changing the budget multiple times a year had some sort of effect, not sure what they're actually doing here. In any case this seems to allow the hardline player to survive until 1992, but after that they resign. I guess they wouldn't make it to 2017.

Played a few games last night. You have to be a bit lucky with which events you get. Very easy to get swamped with negative press just days before the next polling benchmark. Also sometimes smearing anti-government organisations works, sometimes it doesn't.

Eventually I got lucky and did quite well, with the government at a whopping 67% in the polls at some point. But I got too enthusiastic and after one break-in too many, I got a face full of pavement courtesy of Mr Garcia. Fuck. This actually happened just at the point when I was thinking: "Wait, this is overkill, I should just sit this event chain out... Ah what the hell, let's do it one more time".

This LP inspired me to check out the game and it's really fun. Crashed on me though and half the time you're completely in the dark. I have no idea what I'm doing and I keep sending everyone to the interrogation room. Is this how the real deep state operates? Explains a lot. Right now I'm spying on a dog-hater and will probably send him to the pain room just to be sure, can't trust anyone, he seems connected to a secret society.

This and Deus Ex are the only things that spring to mind of the conspiracy theorism played straight. It's a lot of fun too (and mixes undoubtedly true things, political weaponisation of the press etc, with the zanier).

This has been a fun read. Are you going for the "standard" ending, or the evil(er?) Egyptian secret cult one?
I remember trying this long ago, but I found it quite obtuse and hard to know what you're supposed to do. It seems to be the case, as you don't even know what exactly happens at the end of a case. According to reviews it is the same thing in the Steam game, if not worse.
As for being a parody, judging how the plot of Desu Ex is happening nowadays in real time, I wouldn't be surprised if Britain had such an actual murderous black ops organization to ensure democracy "works".
