Should Vamps in the next iteration of VTM reveal themselves openly or nah?
Legacy of Kain is one example and it covers both sides of vampires being out in the open: vampires being the humanity's overlords (Soul Reaver 1) and vampires being forced underground after losing a war (Blood Omen 2). However, I think vampires being hidden makes for a more interesting premise. "Our" world (or its equivalent) not being as it seems is great way to inject some mystique. It is also generally better/more diverse for gameplay purposes (unless you go for an empire builder-like game). Normalizing vampires (and/or other monsters) is sort of play on societal issues (Discworld Noir comes to mind) more than anything else. Personally I don't find that particularly engaging.

Having said all that... It would be kind of pointless to have Vampire the Masquerade without the eponymous Masquerade, wouldn't it?

This plot point is addressed in Night Road, where an autarkis tries to come up with a plan to smoothly break the masquerade in contained steps that would eventually lead to a sort of vampire-to-kine diplomacy. To some extent it really is interesting since it would add a whole new layer of politics to the vampire system. Instead of being a pseudo-feudal establishment, it would instead also introduce roles involving diplomacy like species ambassadors, spokespeople, admins to vampiric embassies. But it would just get too messy, so it's better to kill such aspirants off.

Meh, I prefer the vamps under masquerade. The whole organized crime / secret society dynamic works better than some cheap civil rights allegory. And you can still have *some* humans being aware of vamps as a plot point if need be (e.g. various hunter organizations that want to deal with supernatural threats quietly, some locals with a vested interest in also upholding the masquerade like in the case of ghouls etc etc).

Grab the Codex by the pussy Strap Yourselves In Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Widespread smartphone and social media use killed any concept of a believable supernatural masquerade. Smartphones and social media killed a lot of the mystery in life in general.
You mean you can't find films of weird shit on the Internet? By the fuckload? Hell, I imagine that within the World of Darkness, the Technocracy has quite a few Mages Enlightened Scientists mass producing such content, so as to drown out real recordings in information noise. The Masses, after all, must not be relieved of their ignorance ahead of schedule.
Yeah, there's a lot of weird and fucked up shit on the internet. But none of it supernatural. Just humans being retarded.

Came across an RTX remaster of the game that's currently in progress by a solo dev.

I wonder if it'll actually get to a full release eventually.

X-Men already explores the theme. Humans will never risk being replaced or enslaved.
Picture a vampire Magneto.
