I've always thought the Portuguese language (spoken by actual Portuguese not Brazilians) could make a more interesting replacement from the usual generic American or Queen's English accents we normally get for Romans.

Funny how the accents of ancient Romans today are portrayed by people who were backwater provincials . Like if 30th century Earth were to imitate Californians with West Virginian accents.

Meh, I can understand artistic license being taken for the sake of drama or theatrics. Casual audiences lap up shit like dashing rebels with dreams of freedom from the totalitarian empire.

I hope they would at least extend the map eastwards as EB had done. Constricting Seleucids in Syria and Parthians on some Caspian province is a crime on par with Ptolemaic chariots, flaming pigs and Roman ninjas.

I wish they would expand the map on Eastern Europe too. It would be cool to change history and expand the Empire up to the Baltic Sea.

Has anyone tried playing Empire TW with any recent mods? I remember using Darthmod, but that was years ago and it wasn't very good anyway.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
God damn would it kill them to have different accents for a German and a Roman? Augustus and Arminius sounding the same is ridiculous.

Augustus and Arminius both pronouncing Latin words with an American/English accent is even more ridiculous. It literally hurts my ears.

I see expansion potential right there.

I played fully unlocked 1.6 warezbb edition, aside of that virus in autorun (but majority of antivuruses are blocking autorun by default) it worked out of box without problems. No mods were required for anything. I think majority of people are just gimping themselves by enduring bugs caused by a mod.

But the AI is still crap and the game has too few units.
DarthMod improves on both issues but it's still not as good as it could've been. And the game still suffers from having major powers only have two provinces hurr.

I heard DarthMod severally screws up some game mechanisms.

I don't know the latest Darthmod for RTW is up there with EB as far as awesomeness goes. I really takes a lot to fuck up Roman legions though, so if you play as the "Gaul" (game is shit at history) you better make sure you have a few full stacks at least, before you raid the Italian peninsula.

No mods came close to making ETW playable. Too much shit was locked out, and fiddling with AI aggressiveness and adding some re-skinned units doesn't make the campaign map less awful, sieges any more than a complete joke, or characters come alive, etc. You'll waste hours downloading and installing the game and mods, only to probably play the game for twice as long as you spent, if that. Unless it's your first time ever playing ETW, and then you might get a little more mileage out of it because of the "new" factor.

Add on to that, the game still runs pretty terribly and is not optimized at all. Better off playing NTW for a little while until you see how limited in scope it is and ditch it, but you'll probably have a less frustrating experience.

Just read Dutch language mag Gameplay where they had a CA interview. Apparantly they've extended the map all the way east to Mongolia. Fucking Mongolia.

I for one can barely believe that. Still, the mag puts those words in their mouths and it is a normally quite reliable mag at that. Interesting.

That's quite impressive! Mongolia is like, just above china and beyond india. Does that mean everyone would be included?

That a lot more than what they initially announced. That's really difficult to believe.
The article must have confused Mongolia with something else, like a Scythian realm or something. Especially since Mongolia didn't even existed back then, I think.

Mongolia no, but the Huns came from the Asian steps too, not the same exact spot but smiliar regions. So imaybe the map was expanded to include them? Though I doubt that.

That's completely out of left field if true. I find it a bit hard to believe considering that if they're modelling every major German or Celtic tribe how much work that's going to be getting Central Asia and India.

I strayed into the TWcentre forums for some confirmation and stumbled across people demanding the map include Japan and the Americas and gems like:

I have always missed Women commanders. I Really want this in the game, itd finally make me able to fully immerse myself in the characters, being able to play the same gender as one self is very important I feel.

Players who get butthurt because of history issues should just avoid using them. Jeez, when playing Carthage go ahead and lose to Rome if accurate history is such a big deal to you.
It's a game, it has to be fun, balanced and diverse...

If they make gladiators I want to see an animation of one throwing a net around the enemy soldier then dragging them closer and gutting them with his trident. It's historically accurate and epic.

I would love to see the map go all the way down to.... the middle of Africa where there's rain forests (unique unit opportunities there)

I would like to be able to get special units for example monk cav in ikko ikki dlc or pilgrims in medieval 2 kingdoms. Also being able to call jihads with Islamic factions or a crusade (later on in game when Christianity become bigger in europe or a Christian faction). New agents other than priests and imams etc like an agent that can be used to help get recruits for a crusade or jihad would be nice or maybe add it as a ability to a existing agent. . Be able to switch religions I know you could in shogun 2 but I mean like if your Rome being able to switch religions from paganism to Islam or Buddhism Christianity the list goes. Please consider my suggestion because religion in many places of the world has a big influence on countries and people today so why would be any different back in the day?

I want to see Amazon units again. If Scythia or Sarmatia are factions they should have some Female units as well

Oh wow, thanks oscar, you gave me a good laugh there.

But I'd actually like to see amazon units too. They were kinda cool and can be justified with mythology. :M
(or just some female support units for the celts, maybe during city defenses, cause celtic women did support their men during defense battles so it wouldn't be historically incorrect)

That's some quality BTE material.

And now my self-delusion that TBS players tend to be on the intelligent side is ruined. :(

Being each others' fuckbuddies was less of a purely sexual thing, but more of a team-spirit building thing. Close cameraderie and all that. And in ancient greece, it's not even that special, people being bisexual was quite normal. Also people being into kids, so people who go all "look at how sexually tolerant they were back then, it's a paradise for LGBT community!" are probably hypocrites if they don't support pedophiles, too. :M

One of the things I always liked about Ancient Rome was that insulting someone was never put in terms of your sexual preference. You could be straight, gay, bi, it didn't matter. But if you were submissive in bed you were going to have a bad time. Because the insults were based around that you are not dominant during an intercourse. So basically you could fuck your slave, but if came out that the slave fucked you - ouch. You could fuck your wife but if it came out that your wife fucked you - ouch.

Fun tidbit. The interview included some art of a female wearing chainmail and a long skirt. Blue facial tatoos or paint, a spear and some sort of horn and short sword hanging from her belt. There was also art of a female priest in robes with a scythe. The interview was with Al Bickham and he was commenting on how their map had grown so gigantic that it now spread from Britain to Mongolia and how they changed the management system as not to lose oversight.

We'll see.

I wonder how the map will turn out. I support expanding it to India and beyond, but Mongolia? I doubt it's that far. I'd rather they focus on the mediterranean and near east and add parts of Asia as an expansion.
