YEAH KILL THOSE GERMANS MY GLORIOUS ROMAN BROTHERS *FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP*

edit:
So they've replaced having to render any distant terrain with cinematic fog and other shit effects? I wonder if there's going to be any campaign map->battle map fidelity at all. It didn't exist in Shogun 2, but was a staple of total war games starting with Rome: TW. And, yeah, I realize the shots are from a canned Teutoburg battle scenario, not from the campaign map.

actually the teutoburg forest will appear if you start a fight on it's location in the campaign map.
The system will be like in the old Rome, tile based. So there should be fidelity.

And the whole battle is supposed to be misty and dark, to give the feel of an ambush, I don't think there will be the cinematic fog and other shit effect each battle.

After seeing that UI screenshot I'm wondering if all the unit cards will be in some greek pottery style or in their own art styles.

I like the close camera.I always max zoom when clash is about to happen, love that shit.It looks like it wouldn't be that bad of a feature when they first showed it with Carthagen video.

Shouldn't roman cards look more like mosaics? People associate that with roman art style more than the greek vase painting style, which is greek.

Greco-Roman culture. Apparently they don't have the ressources to do it for each factions. Celts will probably share it with germans, Iberians, Dacians, Sarmatians. Parthians will share it with other easter culture...

Disappointed to see how colourful the Roman soldiers look. I hoped they'd take a leaf out of Europa Barbarorum's book and have it so their clothes have more realistic dyes.

The whole trailer feels like he is following a linear part and scripted sequences happen, like in some 3d person action adventure game.

Maybe cause that's basically how historical battles in TW work.
I'm pretty positive about the trailer. Doesn't look like they fucked too much with tactical combat, and the minimap looks very nice.
Purdy visuals don't impress me much, but the sounds seem pretty nice.
Still, campaign map and ai is where they'll better show some goodies.

I observed carefully how units fights and move. The micro Artificial intelligence has been improved 10 folds. They really look realistic right now. That will allow for more fluidity and intuitive thinking in your strategy methinks. Those tiny soldiers will actually react how you expect them to.

Sigh. For the last time: ITS ALL SCRIPTED. Exactly like their previous presentations in battles. There is no AI unless proven otherwise. As in previous titles.

Manboon indeed is not a learning animal. Same hype same mistakes.

This guy here is more accurate.

I was speaking about the soldiers individual AI. You know, like how the tiny men actually fight.

Point is invalid. It's an historical battle. It's not a skirmish, nor a campaign map battle.

Historical battles are supposed to put you into the context of the specific battle that happened in real life.
So there is some scripting to recreate the context. And some specific objective for you to put yourself in the shoes of the ambushed romans.

Linear path is because it's an ambush and the objective is to quit the forest. You are free to take the path you want, spend more time in a certain zone, retrieve the lost eagles...

Also, some stuff you might not be aware of, but the battle should last more than 10 min. They cut a lot of moments, and they gave insane stats to the legionaries so that the melee combat only last a few seconds.
They also probably gave massive stats to the archers, for cinematic purpose.

I didn't see half a unit charging while the other half stands around in formation. The men responded to commands without any of them appearing to be four standard deviations below mean IQ. So there's that. Of course, they'd never show that crap in their promo replays if it were still happening.

I'm still buying the game at release, of course. :M

I know I'm probably be suckered badly, but that final run gave me chills.

Goddamn, man, I've had scenarios like that, and they're all horrifying affairs.

Bro it's fucking scripted like CoD. Let them show an actual gameplay first.

All I could see in that video was "HOLY SHIT LOOK AT OUR FUCKING NEW CAMERA SHOWING YOU WHAT SOLDIERS EXPERIENCE in our Call of Duty Total Warfare SO CINEMATIC FUCKING FUCK"

The only thing I saw was move attack anything in the way, those germans are true gentlemen allowing the romans to retreat and attacking with few units at time.

I found Shogun II a lot better with mods that reduced unit speed.

Yeah, this. Seems good so far. I'll just gonna have to turn unit multiplier up to 6 again to fight proper legionary battles.

But the overall enemy AI will be shit I'm afraid. Gotta wait and see how the handle multiplayer. If they have the same shit as retainers and pay2win spartan units I'm writing off CA for good.
