:desu:Hi, guys. Special thanks to sgc_meltdown for PM-ing me this little gem.

THE QUEEN IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE QUEEN

Being a Princess is not an easy job. Being a Queen is even harder. Especially when you're only fourteen years old, and the reason you've inherited the throne is that your royal mother has just met an untimely end.

Now power is up for grabs. You may be the official heir, but much of the country's nobility would love to steal the throne for themselves. Aggressive neighbors will take advantage of any weakness to enlarge their borders at your expense. And that's not even mentioning the magical dangers which are lying in wait...

Can you survive long enough to reach your coronation?

OK, weaboo aside, this should be a goddamn shallow Multiple Choice - CYOA just like what you queer dudes (j/k) always do in the Playground, am I right?

I really have no time for an in-depth review of the demo while at work, but I sure as heck can't wait to get back home and give it a try.

See ya tonite!

:hero:

I'll just leave this here...

I've finished the demo. It's...fast. I failed so many tests. Because I kept wanting my princess to learn horse riding and master the falcon and hunting dogs. :(
Perhaps I should've focused on court manners instead.

There's some gameplay here, but I wonder if a lot of meta-gaming will help you prevail. I doubt it's random. There's plenty of skill checks and the unprepared princess definitely get punished later on for failing to get some things done.
I cannot recommend this game wholeheartedly, but I admit I wanted to buy this game so badly. BUT RIGHT AFTER ANOTHER DEMO LOOK THROUGH!

"Lonely/Pressured" seems like a pretty weird dichotomy.

How is that weird? She is lonely because she is the princess and probably cant find real friends and because her mother just died. She is pressured because she is expected to fit into her role out of a sudden. Its quite natural to feel this way in those circumstances.

That emoticon disturbs me in ways I cannot properly articulate, RK-chan.
It is profoundly unwholesome.

I played the demo, here's my impressions. The game is too heavily stat based and menu driven and thus doesn't have that charm that Princess Maker has. For example, when you attend classes, there are no graphics to show what you're doing and just overall it's not a very aesthetic game. On the other hand, there are a ton of choices & consequences and a ton of stat checks for everything possible and I got the feeling the story would be dynamic, so it's quite impressive in that regard. Try the demo and maybe someone can pay the $13 and tell us how the full game is.

edit: RK I tilted my princess to be very good in faith abilities, she must've had over 50 in every faith skill. That opened a sub-story about wanting to steal some magic crystal. Other skills opened new activities like a dance ball or playing sports.

Tried the demo, I tried to unlock lumen as fast as I can (did it within 7-8 weeks), sadly the demo ends too fast before I can see any meaningful scene regarding the lumen skill (basically turns you into mahou shoujo)... The key is to have > 50 in accounting & wear the economics special outfit. Then the choice are basically to listen to the female visitor in week 1 / 2 (the one where you get a chance to arrest her). Just follow her conversation & instructions, then there will be a skill check where you can only pass if you have high accounting or high presence (hard because of the depressed / afraid disposition at early game)
