Who the fuck would give negative votes to Caves of Lore!?
People who understand how it works here: if you want a game to win, you downvote the others. It's retarded, and I didn't do it. RPGCodex encourages retardation.

The absolute butthurt of the BG3 fans for it not winning after they were almost bursting in anticipation of the butthurt when it wins is truly ironic.
Sounds hilarious, where can I find it?
At your service.
I increased my vote for BG3 to 5, in hopes that it drives some Codexers to self harm.
The results of the poll will be glorious. As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in butthurt. Can't wait!

So many millions died already in those past years, over and over and over again, every single time. Can't wait.
I believe you misunderstood some of those posts. In fact, i think you probably missed the point of all of them. That's an achievement. For once suggesting that I like BG3 is like saying Communist liked kulaks or Hitler liked Jews.

Strangely, I do not see THQ Nordic tweeting about this victory. Could it be that they don't want to be affiliated with these gentlemen?
I also don't see Larian tweeting about getting 2nd place on RPG Codex, but they do tweeted about their gayming awards.
inb4: they tweet it because of this post

Of course, they don't want to be affiliated with the site, also sven more or less said that roxxor DOS review is shit. They used to come here, but stopped years ago. I'm pretty sure THQ Nordic doesn't want to either

Point is the bigot brigade push for a game made by people who dont want to be affiliated with them either.

There's nothing to justify or discuss. 2024 Codex is officially, with clear evidence, no longer a site about RPGs; it's a platform for free speech, albeit one leaning towards alt-right, anti-woke politics. The "does not scale with your level" remark is completely out of touch. The place has nothing to do with discussings RPGs anymore.

I picked a weird time to stop lurking for over a decade :negative:

This shit sucks, I just wanna talk about good RPGs....

Whole world has gotten wierd since globalists got scared and openly started pushing their agenda. All free speech platforms have been pushing back. What is going on here is nothing compared to Musk's Twitter or Rumble.

Jesus. Talk about RPGs then. What is up with all the women moaning in this thread? I see a lot of talking about RPGs, unfortunately, most of them are loaded with SJW shit. Should that just be ignored if someone dislikes it? Come on now. That is part of the discussion you doofs. Who knew what devs insert into the games, can and would come back to bite them in the ass!

If we are being fair BG 3 is a solid 2/5

It would be, maybe without the wokeness.

These people are hypocrites, I wonder how many of them would never touch a Hentai game for such a poll like the Rance series, which unironically features some really, really good games, for being "Cringe" or "disgusting" due to rape being depicted but when I think aside from the bad gameplay the woke sexual deviance is "cringe" or "disgusting" the it's not okay to let that influence my Vote.
I mean the argument from BG3Boys would be that all the sex in that game is consensual. Not saying it is a great argument, but it is logically consistent.
Nah I don't care bout all that consent stuff, giant bear dongs and tentacle monsters just get me all hot n bothered.

How's that for consistency?

People complain about not being able to talk about rpg, but every good game have a thread dedicated to them (some even have a whole subforum dedicated to them). You can also just ignore the people that decides to talk about politics in the thread of the game you are enjoying and that is it.

some faggot on RPGwatch said:
I imagine the bigotry central would appreciate a game based on racist, sexist humor with very little to offer as an actual RPG like JA3 and ridicule themselves by putting the best RPG of at least the last decade below it, probably because girls can have dicks.

Must be difficult to live in the wrong century.
We're a fuck nazis, heil Hitler sort of people here.

JA3 is cool and all but it's pretty clear BG3 got review bombed a bit. I don't think it was a 5/5 game but closer than just about anything else I played this year and a long way from a 1/5 experience.

A 1/5 for me is something that's fundamentally broken without any redeeming features. If you genuinely think BG3 falls into that category you're either taking the piss or gay romance is just too triggering for you.

On the other end of the scale from what I played of Forspoken it was worse than both DIV and Starfield, both of which were obvious review bomb targets. Not great games but not 1/5 either.

Star Ocean The Second Story R
Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion
Jagged Alliance 3
Underrail: Heavy Duty
Rance IX - The Helmanian Revolution
Fallout: Sonora Dayglow
Caves of Lore
Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game
Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader
And this is list by real average. Alas some of these games got less votes than 30, thus there might be fluctuations caused by too few voters.

Star Ocean is a remake of a decent old game. It shows that one of best games on PCX with interesting gaming systems can do well. Even if story is so-so, it shows way forward and allows player proceed mostly at his lesure. It has also nice characters that are not gay or too edgy (or you can keep edgy ones out of party).

PC version is corrupted by Denuvo, but technically skilled people can find workaround to ensure they could have backup for eternity.

Hero's Adventure is actually very nice Wuxia novel inspired game. Frankly these games should be made because of passion, create something crazy complex, and because they would be made by fans not for profit, theirs gameplay would take at least 300 hours from start to finish, and learning game system would take 50 hours.

Alas there are not enough skilled fans that can survive from secondary job, and Chinese government isn't willing to pay for TOTALLY AWESOME Wuxia open world simulation/RPG game.
Imagine each year new free awesome Wuxia game. It would be like new football manager, just with dragons and real story.

JA3 had these two flaws at release 1. I got JA2 for free as part of bundle. 2. JA2 allowed to buy ammo for cheap and plenty thus I could spray bullets with mercenaries that couldn't hit a door of a barn.
JA3 also didn't feel like party are real hired special forces that are trying to win war for rebels. As if developers didn't have experience with this.

Underrail: Heavy Duty
Rabid fans love it, rabid fans got it to 4th place.

Rance IX
Well it's Rance. Combat is simplistic and it's carried by story and characters. Is it's story sufficiently awesome to carry it to 5th place? Can you be evil villain that overthrow less evil empire? And why are we not overthrowing a republic for once to get a potion of eternal youth to ensure we would see A LOT more Rance sequels?

Personally thinking, it's hard to beat Senkoku Rance with old unofficial fan translation.

Fallout: Sonora Dayglow
Completely missed this one, looks like it's some kind of fan make variant which got new expansion.

There is a massive uproar that only English translation is AI generated.

Caves of Lore
If it was released for free it would be great. As it is, it's still a decent success for one man team to get 7th rank.

Low res graphic sucks however.

Colony Ship: A Post-Earth Role Playing Game
Caves of Lore beat up third game of rather known developers who made Dungeon rats.

Well folks we all knew which parts should be better/finished and about its flaws. It's decent game, but it still has a long road to the top.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader
Yea... It was potentially GOTY of 2023 that fell short.
Shitty programming, story might have some potential, but...

Still 9th place is nice.

Baldur's Gate III

Listing what was seriously wrong with BG3, and what they did right would double size of this post.

Rather a sewer rat than a shilll, just to get the attention from devs.

Infinitron and Roguey in a nutshell
I mean, what's the point if you must handle the devs with silk gloves all the time? You can't criticize, you can't call out political pushing. The forum would be meaningless. Sure you might get a dev or two that post here (which they already are) but it would be all dishonest interaction.

And it didn't happen. Don't see any copycats for... what is it since DE released? 5 years ago? The commie devs looks like are going out of business even. Game looks like CYOA (started it just last week so I may be wrong), something that is not even that far from RPGs. The second part about "political undercurrents" can't be in good faith pinned on DE, a game released in 2019, that's ridiculous.
There's Sovereign Syndicate that was clearly inspired by Disco Elysium. That's all from what I can recall.
Esoteric Ebb and Citizen Sleeper as well. Heartless Lullaby which won that VTM contest and was meant to be upgraded to a full game. I'm sure there's a ton on itch.io. Gamedec's also in a similar space as a narrative RPG.

Disgusted by Rogue Trader scoring as highly as it did. Next time I guess Owlcat can just shit directly into your mouths for an assured GOTY pick?

As usual, the actual GOTY scored well among those discerning enough to play it, but nobody on the codex plays RPGs, so it got lost in the crowd.
