Community RPG Codex's 2018 GOTY - VOTE NOW!

Voting is already over? :negative:
I wanted to give Pillows of Shiternity: Dumpsterfire a bad rating and help make Pathfinder: Kingmaker RPGOTY, but I didn't get a chance. The poll was closed one day before I even knew we had a poll.

:argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh::argh:

Not like it really matters though. The poll is open to all and anybody can vote as often as they want, which is probably why the results from last year were also completely laughable.

Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Damn it why is the poll already closed.
Results are invalid since I haven't been consulted :obviously:

Winrars are:
  1. Grimoire (a second year in a row since V2 came out; will probably also win 2019 when the manual comes out)
  2. Pathfinder Kingmaker (+best BG since BG; humiliating Inexile and Obsidian so bad they went back to microsoft (penis) in fear of superior Russian Hackers, everybody crying the game is too hard, having actual mechanics and amazing character creation -Kingdom Managment sucks ballz and Pathfinder setting is gay)
  3. Kingdom Come Deliverance (+superior bantz on twatter, having the best quest chain where you go out whoring with the devs dad, bromance, best Slavsim, best Forest in a videogame, generally amazing authenticity; -goddamn 20hr intro, too many fucking cutscenes, being a walking sim)
  4. Kenshi (not enough time played, but got raped by peasants, so fond memories; also amazing soundtrack)
  5. AtomRPG (not played yet but russian so presumably superior jank)

Just make a simple poll on a new subforum with a membership time requirement to access. Make multiple threads for each subcategory.

That guarantees 1 member = 1 vote.

This Excell shit with fancy statistics is unnecessarily complex, codex is not about math porn.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Yeah, all this weighted statistics and Bayesian quantum warp field theory seems a bit too autistic for a simple lulzy GOTY poll. Plus the fact everyone and their beagle can vote, multiple times, seems like a self-defeating flaw.

Then again having only 1 vote is p. dumb too. Can we have 3 votes on this forum (nobody has played more than 3 new games anyway) and then a simple vote count at the end?

True, but there are other factors like that. Pillars of Eternity 1 was GOTY in 2015, but is it relevant now, after PoE2 and Pathfinder: Kingmaker?

And not to sound ungrateful, but some of those GOTY winners were basically driven by total lack of choice - or perhaps they pioneered something and were quickly outclassed by their competitors, such as Banner Saga.

This is what annoys me most about it. Every year you give a limited selection of games to a limited number of people (buy in the first 0-12 months) and you say "you must pick one of these games and we will then parade it around for the next year and refer back to it every year henceforth as a reputation of everyones good taste and opinion"

It's dumb and misleading and it's not doing the Codex any favours. It's clickbait at best.

I can agree that games like ATOM should have been moved to next year poll. Everything that releases in December should be moved to next year.

We should just have a one or two year delay since time is moving too fast and we are too old. And games nowadays aren't finished until one or two years after release always.

So what is the GOTY 2017?

In the meantime, thanks to this thread, I bought Star Traders: Frontier and after playing until 2 AM for two days in a row, I'm not sure how I'll get anything done at work today.

It scratches several of my itches at the same time and probably it's the best "open world" I've seen in a while. I even feel good for having payed the full price for it. I can't figure out what's the best crew composition when it comes to turn based battles, and I'll probably need to do some trial and error for that.

The only problem I have is that between this one, Factorio and Rimworld 24h per day are not enough.

What's the alternative, doing nothing? It's not like it's hurting the Codex anyway, and a lot of people enjoy it.
