rohand I never played a game like this in my life, actual text-based adventure with party etc. Which one do you suggest beginning with ? Which one is the best of the best in this kind of game ?

Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Gloom was made by a potato devs for Amiga so it easily went under your radar UC. Considering the hardware that was running the whole game it was good for it's time. Right now it feels to much pixelated and I wouldn't even try playing it. In Sin, much better recognized fps, you could interact with some terminals that had a very basic Dos functions. One of them had the program called Gloom. Guys from Ritual didn't probably know about it, but it started the same as old Doom in Dos, but had some insufficent memory problems .

I don't know about ones with a party, but the Gold Box games have some element of this.
Darklands also has several CYOA-like screens for its encounters - it's a very complex game though and I'd recommend it as a first one only if you have prior experience with complex RPGs such as the Arkania series.

You can't go wrong with King of Dragon Pass (although it's more of a managerial game).
Also, Banner Saga might be a good first game in that style. It has several choice based events with a text background and turn-based combat.
Journey above is not a bad choice for a first CYOA-like game. Its mechanics are pretty straightforward and very book like.
If you don't mind about playing (single-player) web-based games, take a look at this, it's quite fun as a practice for gamebook styled games:

(I recommend building your character first, then later picking up random ones for fun)

Leaving the spideroids alone doesn't work simply because they get split up anyway by the bullet hell that's so crazy in this map. Also, the level is not even that bad on normal difficulty, it's only the later ones that get ridonk. Hardcore is pretty challenging, and I found that it's only really possible to finish it with rocket launcher/rocket minigun/ion cannon because everything else just doesn't work in the long run, but Grim is just so absurdly difficult, I don't even know where to begin. 6 spideroids, 3 big red shooting beetles, 6 big yellow shooting spiders, and then the zombie masters, what the fuck. You can only win that without quasi-cheating and enabling perks if you get lucky with pickups - if you manage to get shields and freezes sorta often and sorta close to yourself, it's possible. But that hardly ever fucking happens. And again, it's only possible with rocket launcher or plasma cannon, but plasma cannon is even more reliant on pickups, but also makes it easier to actually get them if they spawn in the middle of a murderblob.
Been playing this myself lately, for now (halfway last "chapter") my favourite weapons are the gauss shotgun, plasma cannon and missile swarm launcher.

Yeah, this is one of my favourite quests in all RPG ever. It was very creepy (especially as every single trace of proof just disappear, including the emptying of the warehouse), and the way it teaches the lesson "if you want to hide the truth, then try to mix up real and fake information and spread them around" was very useful even in real life (I think I got the same lesson somewhere else, in another game perhaps, but I forgot which one)

Won the last level, within 10 tries or so, and without the hidden menu / perks. Used my favourite Gauss Shotgun, tactic was to first take out that tough shielded spider, along with the zombie masters. Next the yellow shooting spiders, along with the green ones. Finally, the big spiders that multiply into smaller when shot. Movement was done by going in a huge circle keeping the enemies near the center as much as possible. Didn't really use any other pickups unless they happen to be on my patch.

I haven't played the mod that much, but god damn the borg are powerful. I love it! This attack felt like an episode from Voyager or something (and yes Captain Janeway is on her way... not that is going to help much :))

I remember liking this game (I played it while I still had the patience for Adventure games), but not being able to complete it because I had used some spell components early in the game. Gotta hate those Adventure games...

Wow! 620 Pages (and counting!) The only game I've been playing lately, is the one that I am currently developing. Wish I had time to read through 620 pages. I'll prob skim through these for some inspiration later. Thanks for sharing! An excellent resource for indie developers too!
