The UI looks the same as in Shadowgate and similar games on NES, I haven't played any of those games yet (despite wanting to for a while) so I don't know how they really compare.

It did however remind of the original survival horror: Project Firestart - has anyone played that?

Haven't played it, but I know enough about it to understand where you're coming from...a little bit. Honestly, those screenshots remind me more of BSS Jane Seymour/Spacewrecked: 14 Billion Light Years From Earth.

EDIT: From the homepage of the Infested game:

INFESTED is a point and click game in the style of NES Classics Shadowgate (1987), Déjà Vu (1990), and Uninvited (1991)

Infested :
Doesn't look particularly great, although the syringe part did make me smile.

IIRC Project Firestart had a remake of sorts, which I played briefly during "history of survival horror" binge. Don't recall anything about it though.

Have you played the original? It's a bit of a proto System Shock (+some Alien) in isometric, with a bit of adventure bits and cinematics, running on c64.
Insanely impressive at the time and still quite notable for how little game-y concessions it makes despite being released so early on such a limited platform.

TBH the remake looks absolutely offputting. You'll be much better off playing the original.

Nightcry (by the maker of Clock Tower)
Damn, they keep releasing one turd after another and it's basically the remake of the same game, only each time it's worse. After the snes classic, only haunting grounds got it somewhat right.

Hmm, quite a lot bad guys to deal with. I think I'll wait and see who has the upper hand in this battle...

Let's see... it's getting interesting...

scr00009.png

Looks like a tie so far...

scr00010.png

Should I enter the combat now? Nope, let's wait a couple of turns more...

And when the right moment come, I made my move to finish some remaining losers off...

Also some 20XX:

Not a bad game. Early Access Megaman X-ish roguelike. Kinda reminds me of Jazz Jackrabbit 2. It's fun to run the daily leaderboards and despite the levels being procedurally generated, the gameplay is fun enough to keep me playing. Pretty regular patches. My biggest gripes so far are that the glowy effects are little overbearing, and the bosses are underwhelming. Bosses are basically just souped up versions of regular monsters.
