That's almost as humiliating as the time you went on a radio show and exposed yourself as a brain-damaged incompetent.

Well, not really.

Let's make America (North and South) great again !

Tried this time some tactics changes, but American Revolt is more of a puzzle game where you need to do precisely what the devs wanted. Otherwise you die quickly. The escort missions are horrifying experience, and with added air raids it's a miracle to survive on the first try. But since you can use it as well a good timing can make a big change after you survive the beginning of the mission. The mission in Mexico can be done very quickly, if you now when is the target that you must kill. I kept it with the first agent, since I always use him as a specialized mule, adding sometimes persuadertron. Since the police and military has mods and all the heavy guns, and they have full ammo looting is obligatory to end the mission successfully. Laser gun is very clean and safe but there the bodies are vaporizing, so it's all about balancing the use of specific weapon. Gauss gun is great for big groups of enemies, some corporate agents will use them as well (there is also one mission where agents are in the car using them). Sometimes you need to divert the group to catch up with all the agents trying to ass rape you. Overall, one hell of a data disk. The Monsanto corporation rules from now on.

Still, the first playthrough was more painful. I've managed to survive Atlantic Accelerator with 3 agents. Tried to make it 4, but I gave up. Salute to my one casualty (plus 50 and 1 replays through the whole game)

DramaticPopcorn

The game you are asking about is Venetica. Jarl made a good mini-review of it on codex, and I mostly agree with it. Although I've played the gold edition and didn't have any crashes during my playthrough. There was some fps drops in the city sections. I had much fun with it, although you can see its shortcomings due to the tight budget. Still better than Fable and the amount of quests is more than enough for action rpg. A more polished sequel with more interactive environment could be interesting.

Here is the link if you want to know more.

Hexen - this time played with mage. I was surprised how good is the first weapon - sapphire wand. It's like a magical version of railgun, but less powerful. Just wait for enemies to get in straight line and voila ! I used it until the end of the game. Especially good for upgraded centaurs that shoot later on. Freezing is nice, when you don't have big crowds to kill, and arc of death feels great and since it moves automatically up and down you can deal quickly with foes. Bloodscourge just kills things quickly, but it felt weaker compared to cleric's Wraithverge, which was the equivalent of BFG9000. I had a less problems with "somewhere on x the door were opened" and overall feel, that the level designers did a great work. Of course I can't stop at that, so replaying Deathkings of the Dark Citadel is inevitable.

Moving on.

I would have been screwed without Pkunk reinforcements. The Fury is the only ship that could outrun the fireballs.

Surprisingly good game. Combat was a little rough though. Maybe I'm just a noob, but I found most ships to be useless. I was mostly abusing the butt-missiles of the Spathi Eluder until I could upgrade my flagship to op-status.

Star Control 2 is one of the best games ever made, and it's pretty much a given that there will never be made another game like it.

It'll turn 25 years old this October, and I hope I can remember then to spam all the SC2-related stuff I've amassed over the years (like when the ZoqFotPik got introduced to vuvuzelas).

As for the Sa-Matra - the Pkunk is by far the best ship to tackle it with, but others can work out pretty well, like the Yehat and the Supox (if you have 1337-level reflexes, that is).

One question: Did you find all 10 Rainbow Worlds? If so, did you notice the connection between all of them?

And be warned: Star Control 3 is sadly nowhere near as good as Star Control 2.
