It took me ages to get round to this due to the absurd download size (thanks, idTech) and boy am I mad. Avoid this shit like the plague unless you REALLY loved Resident Evil 4 - and even then a portion of the reviewers who enjoyed RE4 seemed to hate TEW due to the stamina system/scripted chases/stealth mechanics. Definitely a love/hate game based on metacritic and survival horror sites. Whilst I despised the general level of difficulty and trial-and-error sequences, I did enjoy the general aesthetic and I can't say I agree with the consensus that "the story makes no sense until the DLC" - though it's certainly very poorly delivered and there are thriller/psychological horror games that do a far better job with similar themes. I was pretty annoyed at how little porn there was of Kidman (her superior original model was never ported to SFM as far as I know), but there is a fair bit of gay hentai, so there you go.

The first two DLC are almost completely stealth-oriented and add some minor mechanics like wall-hugging, which I didn't find very intuitive or useful but made it into the sequel anyway. I enjoyed a couple of the larger stealth setpieces, though overall it has similar issues the main campaign. The final DLC is a bit of an oddity, letting you play as a boss and smashing the shit out of everything to earn coins, level up and complete battle royale challenges. Clearly done on a shoestring budget, with text slideshows for cutscenes, the major surprise is that it's actually piss-easy the first time through, perhaps for the purposes of cathartic release after the keyboard-smashing difficulty of what came before. I wouldn't say any of the DLC is really that worthwhile unless you really care about MOEBIUS or Kidman's backstory for the sake of the sequel. Just watch it on youtube or something.

The Evil Within 2

I fully intended to avoid this one due to my experience with the first game, but virtually everyone who hated or severely disliked the original seemed to recommend the sequel, so I bit the bullet during the steam sale. The core differences are that significant portions of the game are entirely or semi-open world mixed in with more linear sections similar to TEW, stealth is more heavily encouraged (and a lot more viable), there's a more in-depth crafting system, the story is a lot more explicit, and in general the game is considerably easier than its predecessor (the game outright states that the default/normal difficulty of TEW is the "Nightmare" difficulty of TEW2).

I preferred this game to the original by a comical margin. Enemies are still dangerous (including one-hit-kill minibosses) and ammo conservation is very important, but I felt pressured, rather than outright fucked and forced to restart a chapter, if I hit a snag in TEW2. There is a bit of fairly obvious publisher interference in the sequel ("make it like The Last of Us!") but I still liked all the different elements - the boss fights, scripted battle royale sequences, stealth and open-world - as individual experiences and as a whole. I'd say the first open-world area (Chapter 3) is the strongest part of the game as there's a good balance between difficulty, new enemies, exploring and short story-driven sections. I also felt the sound design worked best here, as opposed to the second open-world area where it was sometimes difficult to hear enemies.

The boss models are absolutely fantastic (I particularly liked the Guardian and Matriarch) and graphically it's unquestionably well beyond the original game, though I agree with the argument that the overall art direction is a bit too modern and less stylish than TEW. There are still some impressive parts (the first antagonist's gallery areas and the final 2 or 3 chapters with the psychoplasm environments) but on the whole you'd be hard-pressed to distinguish a lot of the town, lab and cult areas from other games. Some of the characters are a little too predictable and the story (particularly the emphasis on Sebastien's family) borders on trite, but it works in the final chapter. Would definitely recommend it in a sale.

Kidman's model was recently ported to SFM but it sucks, so meh.

Not much to say. Pretty good character models, horrible environmental textures, some cute girls, average shootan and shit ending. Not worth 50 gb or whatever the hell the download size was. There are a bunch of guides floating around from years ago regarding how to make the game look much better and avoid pop-in etc. but I couldn't be arsed to read them.

Pretty average. I was only playing it solo for the story/environments and it was a bit grindy. Some of the bosses before the first patch were an absolute shitshow (the Brapmancer boss was ridiculous). I liked all the different environments and minibosses, though graphics didn't seem as sharp as the first. Also Fatshark fucked everyone by lying about all the content it would get after release, only to give them the finger and work on console ports instead. Swedes are truly the unholy sharts of the devil's asshole and I wish nothing but harm upon their fetid nation.

Also I had some porn commissioned for it, so it's not all bad.

Total War: Warhammer 2 (Vanilla and mods)

It's an improvement over the original, but really a glorified expansion pack. They've really dropped the ball with this series by failing to provide meaningful customization or army painting of some kind to compensate for the streamlined campaign. Plus none of the female models can compare to vampire-chan. OST is excellent, with lots of memorable battle and campaign tracks compared to 2 or 3 from the first game. DLC has been a little bit of a letdown compared to Warhammer 1, with less frequent releases and even garbage like the Laboratory mode (fun for maybe 5 minutes) and a shitty map pack. CA seem to have cut back on the planned content to focus on Three Gookdoms :(

It's Warwind catfood

The game that always makes you think of farts.

I mean, I get that they wanted a compound word that started with War, because Warcraft, but you have to wonder if they couldn't have found something better than wind.
