First time I've ever wanted a "Schweinhund"-rating on the Codex.

30 years ago today...
Thirty years ago today I made the final gold masters for Monkey Island.

Some notes about these.

These are the final source backups I made when the game left test and the gold masters were sent off.

They are labeled 1.1 because the game got bounced out of test during the final two weeks and so the version got bumped when it went back in.

For the younger readers out there: These are not USB devices and you can't text your friends or watch TikTok videos on them. I know. Crazy.

Apparently there was an interview or something and they showed some cut material from MI ?

I need to see this.

If it's your first time, play the remasters. But switch to the old-school graphics (you can switch in-game with F1 or F2).

And play them in the order they were released.

Secret of Monkey Island (remaster)
2 (Remaster)
Curse (original on GOG)
Escape (this one sucks, you can skip it)
Tales of Monkey island (meh, but better than the previous one)

Hey, I've never played Monkey Islands games. I'm kind of confused which version should I play and in what order. I want ot add this to ma playlist. Anybody knows?
I'd say MI1, then MI2, then MI3.
If you're retro-compatible and know how to launch a few command lines, I'd do :
http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/monkey1.html
http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/monkey2.html
https://af.gog.com/fr/game/the_curse_of_monkey_island?as=1649904300
(all through ScummVM)

If you want more modern (not better !) graphics and an easier windows experience, you can get MI1 and MI2 remakes:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/32360/The_Secret_of_Monkey_Island_Special_Edition/

Ignore MI4 and ToMI for now. You don't need them if you're discovering the license goodness now.
