The propaganda leaflets in the Humanis Policlub hideout are pretty funny. Substitute Jew, Mexican or Negro for Elf, Orc or Troll where appropriate.

This will probably be the last on account of diminishing returns.

We've had a blast developing Dragonfall and would love to continue making stories in the Shadowrun Universe!

To do that, we’re gonna need your help getting the word out about Dragonfall. Remember, we’re an indie studio and work directly for our audience - no publisher with deep marketing pockets here!

So please take a moment RIGHT NOW to post one of the links below to your favorite social media sites, fan forums, store forums - anywhere you think they’ll get some positive attention.
Sounding pretty desperate.

Hopefully that's more a sign of dissatisfaction with this particular game than a general regret by the community for showing interest in 2D turn-based RPGs at all. I was surprised how quick supposedly starved for content fans of these types of games were to turn on Shadowrun Returns.

Expansions/DLC always sell a fraction of the base game. For example, pretty much everyone seems to agree that Durlag's Tower in Tales of the Sword Coast is better than anything in the base game, but the expansion itself only sold something like 300,000 back when BG had sold over a million. Storm of Zehir's skeleton crew was the result of Atari making a prediction of what kind of budget would give them a profit after Mask of the Betrayer. When it came to New Vegas DLC, regardless of how the internet feels about them, Dead Money sold more than Honest Hearts sold more than Old World Blues sold more than Lonesome Road.

If you ask me, HBS kind of fucked up by constantly marketing Dragonfall as "DLC". Calling it DLC already seriously understates how much it brings to the table, which wouldn't happen if they called it a straight-up expansion or sth.

Nice that it seems to have turned out decent. Might buy when I've finished the games I'm playing currently.

Yes, I think they would have profited from stronger emphasis on an independent-episode-like release model in their advertisement.

What they really should have done is treated Dragonfall as a relaunch of the entire brand. Shadowrun Returns Enhanced Gold Platinum Edition.

It works for CD Projekt, doesn't it?

They should simply sell the campaigns as self contained games using the same engine.

Yeah, marketing this as DLC is fucking dumb.

ETA: Even selling them as "chapters" or "modules" or "adventures" is better than this dumb DLC shit. DLC has a stink on it that will never go away.

Maybe someone here can help me. I would kind of like to buy this, but I do have some reservations. What I want is a completely drm free linux version, no steam attached. Is the version on the humble store what I'm looking for or does the steam free linux version even exist? Dragonfall has icons for linux and drm free in the description, but it also states "Requires the base game Shadowrun Returns on Steam in order to play." So, what's the deal?

Dang, Simmy is a one seriously depressing video game character. Couldn't she at least hide inside a better 20th Century Flick than Sound of Music?

decide what you want more: native linux or drm-free and then get it on steam or gog. either way dragonfall requires the base game as it's just dlc. it runs well on wine, supposedly.

Thanks guys, it would be easy to just buy it on gog as I already have an account there and then run it through wine. But I thought it would be nice having a linux version if the humblestore version of if is really drm and steam free. It's just that I'm getting contradictory info on if that is really so.

I'm at the very beginning, after the first run, I like the writing very much and I consider writing to be one of the best things in original SRR. At this point the game seems promising. I even have to put aside Dark Souls to play Dragonfall.

Ended up rerolling into a (black)cat shaman since the shammymagedecker™ had to spread attributes so thin I couldn't make any of the checks. I didn't notice it the first time around, but the AI on very hard seems to have its priority sequence in reverse. Instead of AI shammies casting aim and shooting, they always shoot before they cast aim.

Amazing how mindblowingly bad windows people can be at reading comprehension. :M

It's supposed to be compatible with linux as well, if you check the patch notes. IE: Googling.

Well, with patch 1.1 they also rolled out a native Linux version, but you still can't simply run the Windows version in Linux, unless you either use Wine (which isn't a native Linux version), or they bundle it with the normal Windows version as available on GOG, which they don't, afaik.
