One thing I was never able to figure out is how to unlock doors.
It can be so unintuitive you wouldn't believe. As an example, to unlock the door in the lobby of asylum, which leads to bathroom like area with a few lockers holding medkit or two, you have to wait until Ripper will speak to you and combat mode starts. Only then, in combat, you can order your decker to plug in into this door and run around Matrix a little for the first time.

Meh, nuking the bugs works fine since after a while there will be one bug alive, max. That said, yeah, if you can burst her down before she starts running all over the place, the fight becomes laughable at best.

Whoa, I see the quest compasses should be much more detailed in this game. First hoverdog couldn't find Coyote, now Grunker has a problem with Mr Delilah.

It's fairly simple to get an overview of clickable PCs. It's also fairly simple to ackknowledge that none are called Mr. Delilah. When told he is at the back of the bar, I naturally expect something is faulty, which indeed it is if he spawns out of the blue after talking to Coyote, but with no recognition from Kubota.

So im soon done with the game and well it works i guess. There are good and bad things. Lets start with the bad:

The bad:
*Not enough tactical options when you enter combat.
*The lack of CC / the ability to backstab people and so on. They could have done a lot more but instead... yeah it just feel as if there could have been more.
*Lots of "usless" abilities due to how the game is balanced for example some conversation are almost never around. This also include filler abilities for the combat lots of them dont do anything useful so its not even worth wasting 1ap to use said ability.
*The game need to be harder... a lot harder.
*The game is way to linear.
*The 2nd half of the game the story go downhill from "ok / interesting" to "... oh another one of these stories..." Worst part is that its not even a interesting "save the world story"
*More missions / ways to solve them and so on
*Ui, no inventory, save system, bugs, quest ->... bla bla bla.

The good/works:
*The story was fun for the first half of the game even with the silly "throw villain in your face" moments. But its fine even if i did see it ending up that way. They could have done a lot more with the investigation part and i would have liked to see more.
*The descriptions / artstyle / images are great in my opinion. Love the texts but still... there are way to few intractable objects in the world.
*One of the harder places (for me atleast) was when you break in to steal the data from when you face wave of enemies... Sure the enemies are "simple" but it was so far the hardest place for me. Would have liked to see more places like this.
*The combat... works could be improved.

I guess moders will fix it in the end O.o

the shotgun with kneecap is without doubt the most powerful weapon. I understood this quite quickly.

You've never played a rigger with two S-class drones then.

Having read that, I started a new decker/rigger with the goal to get S-class drones. How on earth does the healing of the support drone work? I still haven't been able to figure that out.

Wow, OK. Spent 20 minutes getting through a battle sequence, game transitions to a different area in the same map, quest NPC stands nearby, game bugs out because I dare to walk around the room instead of bee-lining for the quest NPC, impossible to progress, forced to replay the 20 minute fight sequence. Could be the end for me.

Man they still haven't fixed the stuttering issue FFS

You get it too?

I submitted a support ticket and their producer got back to me about there being a bug with the Unity multi-threaded renderer. He said to try Single threaded rendering via a steam shortcut. Tried it but it only made it worse.

Ah, Unity.
Yeah, I checked the steam forums and it seems a lot of other people have the problem too. Hope they fix it because it's annoying as hell.

You do realize that among gamers today you're a rarity, right? They probably don't even bother anymore with this shit. People are just supposed to stay on the rails.
Wasn't there some recent article about how gamers who "push" the games are guilty for the price increases or some such? So, stop it. Be a sheep like everybody else lest you destroy game companies.

I think I know where that is. Same thing happened to me, I walked to an area of the room where I couldn't move anymore. It fixed itself after a while though.

At least they fixed the final boss now.

Anyone else's perma-buffs on drones suddenly disappeared (ones you buy with Karma)? Awkward.

Does this game need more polish or what... It just keeps reminding me why I don't play games on release, anymore.

Does anyone know if essence affects spell slots?

I bought and installed a cyber leg which dropped my essence from 6 to 4. After this I lost one spell slot. Is this a bug or is essence linked to the number of spell slots you have?

Your essence limits your magic score. The more cyberware you have, the less you are atuned with your natural/magical self.

I was having more fun when I was just some bum helping a drug addicted dead guy. Then suddenly I'm saving the world from magic bugs. Ugh.

Same, the dialogue style takes a turn for the worst as well. If in first part of the game people generally talk down-to-earth with slang used to enhance the athmosphere then later on it's just generic ominous bullshit coupled with all hub NPCs suddenly turning all too friendly and exposition-happy. Ugh goddamn 2nd half sucked.

EDIT: Combat encounters were better tho.

Secret bonus difficulty. Play the game with gimp runners you didn't choose.

Just finised it. I liked the story... I guess. Didn't expect it to be this "grand".

All I wanted was more side quests - as in useless runs just for money, and maybe revealing just 1% of the story, or even better - the Shadowrun's lore.

Oh well, back to Avernum.

I have to agree with the last couple of posts - I enjoyed the lower-key first half of the story more, while the combat encounters were more interesting in the second half. I didn't really expect to be saving the world and I was hoping for a few more sidequests - mods will fix it, though, I guess, and they've already said that the Berlin DLC will be more open. :)

Well, technically you're not really saving the world, more like trying to cure a severed limb with a band aid. The mention of the importance of Chicago on the UB basement computer wasn't there just for fun.
