They did switch engines half way through or something.

The Alpha gameplay level was a lot simpler. Pretty much just run in and kill everything, no button to let the Basilisks out or anything.

Rigger+decker is a solid combo, you get extra money gathering intel and can skip a few fights and boring puzzles, you will have the best decker to finish these missions (I had all programs level 3 when Dodger came in, compared to my character he sucked big), and in combat you mark targets and shoot two drones.

I found it almost impossible to make a decker as dodger without seriously gimping the rigger part. Granted, I've kind of fucked it up by spreading to thin, also investing points into body and charisma. Riggers have an incredibly powerful armor though, giving you 1+ to drone control and drone abilities. If you want to max out as a rigger, this saves you a whopping 27 karma.

I was thinking about making a shaman/rigger; Spending my first points on summoning, as it is incredibly powerful in the beginning, then max out rigger with 8 in intelligence, drone control and drone abilities with armor, and then spend the rest on summoning. It could make for a potentially extremely powerful pet keeper.

Does anyone know if the shaman can have to pet using a single AP? It seems like that from the description, but I'm not sure. In that case, it could control 2 drones and two summons.

I don't think shamans can have more than 1 pet up at a time. The summon abilities are blocked as long as there's one currently under control. And sometimes pets seem to bug out, ie. they don't break free and the icon on the top right is there but can't be clicked on and they just stand there doing nothing - or am I missing something?

As a matter of fact. There has just been released, fortunately, a mod that lets you test builds as high level characters.

Do not try shaman/rigger. The game doesn't let you summon while you have drones equipped!

What the hell does "Can summon two spirits from the same summoning point" mean?

i agree there should be no saving at all

Then let players decide when and whether to save or not.
Don't you know they couldn't implement that. For some reason.

Those spots on the enviroment where you can summon a spirit from. Can use them twice.

I didn't even know they existed  Are they those places that look like an altar for satanic rituasl?
Not necessarily, they're little interaction icons like those magnifiers, except it's a skull.

nah, they did not switch engine but deleted their triggers, for whatever reason. within the editor there're also scene flags for drawing weapons and disguise items. imo the engine should still be capable of those things - playing around with triggers and clever usage of script logic should do the trick. here's hoping that berlin will be so much more.
btw there are rudimentary ai scripting controls in. combined with random numbers and different item/skill weighting and threat list scripting you should be able to spice up the ai to a level above moron.

Such a fucking shame that did not make it into the game. Cut Corners strike again.

Totally surprised me. Seemed like that level (they called it a sidequest) was pretty much done and could be just ported into the main game. Instead they dumbed it down. Wut?

Methinks they really ran out of time and removed a lot of triggers and planned features. Also explains the lack of matrix runs inside regular missions and the lack of an astral plane.

I loved that in the genesis game lonestar would harass you so carrying around illegal weapons/armor could actually be a problem, especially if you lacked charisma or a lined duster.

Yeah, if you really think back, the Genesis game had so much more going for it than most people remember. You could pimp out your weapons, adjust offense/defense modifiers, had to worry about two seperate health bars, get random encounters on the streets, hack cameras and hide from guard patrols to avoid setting off alarms, couldn't just waltz in everywhere without nuyen or recommendations, finding and calling contacts would net you some nice stuff, like illegal SMGs or protection from gangs.

Played that one to death. It was basically something of a random mission generator with a few archetypes and a whole lot of fluff around it and a few set missions that formed a story. It was kinda simplistic but had lots of little things to make it memorable.

You can find a lot of things they cut laying around on the OC content pack. Ask Darth Roxor about it

Just finished, took me 15 hours. Thought it was pretty solid, though I think the second half was way worse than the first.

The save system is so fucking retarded and entirely unnecessary.

Yeah it was irritating as fuck, especially having to replay entire maps if you'd die. Luckily the game is kind of easy.

I refuse to believe that they couldn't implement a save anywhere feature with no effort at all. It was more a design desicion.

I don't know why they would lie about something that makes them look dumb.
Well, the game was supposed to be a tablet-release at first, right? I could imagine this system works better for tablets than the usual "save-whenever-you-want"-system does. But I'm just speculating.
