Speaking of whom: does saving / not saving Gino (Coyote's Crusade mission) have any impact later on? Since after that mission...
Coyote is either a) happy and says her crusade is over (saved Gino) or b) she's angry and promises to hunt down all BTL evar (Gino died).
Or is it just another biowarian C&C?

How do you save Gino?
Pick the middle option

You're dying in the graveyard Zed? My somewhat gimped build is basically stomping on auto pilot and I'm not being very careful in fights. I've had two enemies miss grenades, and according to people digging in the editor, Very Hard = Enemies fight by the same rules you do.

This game is too easy, also on Very Hard, and I'm not tactical wizkid. The AoE Armitage has for the graveyard fight bombs the enemy.

It appears that I botched my build then, because I keep getting hit with all those -1AP attacks and criticals on Very Hard. Going mage/shaman was not the best idea, methinks. :(

Well, I dunno. I have pistol/shaman and my Charisma is high while actual relevant stuff isn't so much. I dunno.

Second play-through. On very hard. First time I messed up my avatar but it was ok in the end, this time I've specialized only on Rifle and Ranged despite the fact that I think the shotgun is more lethal.
Needless to say that I've steamrolled through the entire game (~10h): most mobs were down in one salve (2AP). One support mage mixed with Jazz and the main character had 5AP: 2 mobs per round.
Lost one lousy NPC which was bought by mistake, lost 5000 Nuyen because I've bought the wrong implant and so on. Nice game. But I cannot play it the 3rd time because of the linearity.

I found overwatch useful in one situation, when you downed a <spoiler> and had an action point left you could go on overwatch and get a shot on it with <spoiler> when it <spoiler>+M

I'm a bloody idiot, that has never even occurred to me, not that you would need it as <redacted> die like flies.

I found overwatch useful in quite a few situations. Especially when you holed up in a room with a single entrance. Just pop the enemies as they come towards you.

Especially if you block the single entrance with lightning barrier, which the AI loves charging into. Massive trolling.

Or when you give some donuts and coffee to the police to let you take stuff from a crime scene. I was like "Really?".

That one at the very beginning? He says the forensics guys already did their job (sloppy, no-fucks-were-given job, because it's some penniless drunkard murdered in an alley at the slums) and he's just there because he was told to, so as long as you don't make it too obvious that he let you in (like, don't tapdance over the body chalkline), he doesn't mind.

Still. Why not money instead of coffee and free donuts...

It's something that happens in the first 15 minutes of the game, chill the fuck out. I mean, the campaign begins with you learning of the murder and walking to that place.

HEY GUYS DID YOU KNOW VIC IS NOT ACTUALLY IN KLAMATH, HE'S WITH METZGER IN THE DEN

You're about halfway through the game. Very Hard is Very Easy. If you're struggling now, you'll never make it through the game. Writing is about to take a nose dive and combat difficulty is going to go up.

It's not the difficulty that's keeping me from playing. In that case I would just reduce difficulty (if that's possible in an on-going game). My gripe is with the save-system and having to replay an entire zone if I would die near the end of it. Or if the game crashes. Or if I accidentally choose the wrong dialogue option (eh not that it really matters). Or whatever.

I died once in the graveyard. My char and one of the friendly NPCs missed high % AoE (a risk I took instead of healing up). At that point I just rage-quit and I haven't loaded the game since. Even one death is fucking cumbersome because of the idiotic save-system. The graveyard is okay though, I mean you can just Tab/1-through the dialogue quickly and you're back into the fight. But I suspect it won't always be like that.

It doesn't seem like I'll miss out if I leave the game be. My first impression of the game was pretty good. I enjoyed the combat and the detective mystery shit was pretty good up until... well, this point. But the flaws diminish the few qualities the game has to the point that it's just not very... fun.

I hope they make a sequel and make it a proper full-featured game.

I don't think I disagree on any particular point, though I do find the game worthy of one playthrough. Couldn't stomache more, though.

You know Crispy, by doing this, you're basically inviting someone to spoil the whole plot for you in a maximally assholish manner.

Oh, and overwatch with a melee weapon is kinda funny.

I had to give it another shot. I beat the graveyard this time by letting the ghouls tear up guards, now that I knew they would come.

I enjoyed the Brotherhood run. Those decker/IRL combat combos are fun. And it looks like my next mission will be more of that.
I've kinda got to the point where I just fast-forward dialogue though. None of the choices I make matter anyway.

About overwatch & other finer points of combat strategy: they actually allow for some very interesting options, but this is mostly undermined by how easy the game is even on very hard. I'm pretty sure it has to do with lack of time in general (to implement better encounters and possibly AI) and the save system in particular (the checkpoints basically necessitate to either significantly decrease the overall difficulty or else split the game into super-tiny portions unless you want people to have to replay a series of tough battles if they accidentally screw up in the last one).

I was experimenting a bit on my first playthrough and got myself into a situation where I had to do the Renraku and Telestrian runs with just my decker and one of the cheapest hired guys available (having spent my money on useless things just to try them out). It made the game significantly harder but also much more tactically interesting as I had to plan quite carefully, make use of overwatch, tactical retreat, cover and about every consumable and special skill available rather than just mow down the opposition without a second thought (I even found the Matrix entry point in Renraku which is otherwise pretty easy to miss). The actual combat system is really quite good I'd say, it's mostly just the encounter design and difficulty/AI that need to be worked on in future expansions (and mods).

Lost Harlequin and my support mage on the first level of what I'm assuming is the last stage after talking to Telestrian. Like an idiot I went on to the next room and now my save has me and a fucking idiot Troll rigger to take on the remaining endgame. What a clusterfuck!

Never tried it myself, but I believe you're supposed to be able to rewind to any save point.
