In fairness, sunlight doesn't kill vampires like in D&D, it just weakens them. But it's still pretty derp.
I thought it did damage to vampires (or I should say, a player who's become a vampire) in Daggerfall and Morrowind. In Oblivion you only took damage at the more extreme stages, from not feeding.

I don't know how it works in Skyrim, but I wouldn't be surprised if it got rid of any and all repercussions for being a vampire.

You were roasted to a crisp in sunlight in Daggerfall and Morrowind. I distinctly remember making a ring of permanent health regen just to make vampire gameplay less tedious.

I don't think you take damage from the sun, at least I've never noticed it and I'm pretty sure I've gone without feeding for 3 days before.

Also, mythology wise, how come the vampire hunters are okay with a vampire in their midst?

Tits.

What if she was in fact a shemale? Still would have tits.

well, no one makes any sexual touchy-feely moves against her or anything, cuz she is your bitch.

from what i remember no one else but the Dawnguard boss and the Moth priest (luckily he just happened to be in Skyrim at the precise right moment too, and here i thought the Moth Priests like never left their sanctuary?) even talks to her or anything.

Your ignore list.
Can someone explain that blood fountain to me by the way? It flows endlessly, but where does the blood come from? Where does it go? You can't drink it to feed your hunger, so it's useless as a vampire feeding tool (and they have cattle for that). They send you off to some cave to find some blood-water fountain as I said, so why is that one special but this infinite, far more convenient one no good?

Wait, are you saying that you can take the vampire lady to the Dawnguard and they don't even give a shit?

:retarded:

And if the Dawnguard haven't learned to tell a vampire by their obvious glowing red evil eyes and corpse-like visage then no wonder nobody takes them seriously.

This is a Bethesda game. You're not supposed to think about that stuff. :hearnoevil:

To be fair, I don't think Bethesda is capable of making a game that will make me think.

It's akin to expecting a waste removal employee to be able to do calculus. Not everyone is meant to be intelligent and thoughtful, but we do need people to take out the trash and smell like shit. At least Bethesda can entertain me with their derp and their occasional creativity unlike Bioware which is full derp and will cause you cancer.

Indeed. Beth games are fairly entertaining hiking simulators, nothing more, nothing less. Of course, there are ten million consoletards out there who think Skyrim is a deep and intelligent game.

This is pretty accurate: Skyrim's "stream-lining" made it more fun gameplay wise (especially combat) and stealth, but it's lore, story, and attention to little details doesn't match up with Morrowind.

Morrowind is a much better RPG while Skyrim is a much better action-adventure/hiking simulator game.

Pretty much. To be fair to Bethesda though Skyrim does a hell of a lot better in those lore/detail/story areas than Oblivion did. At some point they realized they needed to hire back some writers and designers and I appreciate the effort.

Remember the Count of Skingrad in Oblivion? Stage 1 vampires in Elder Scrolls can't be told apart from humans.

Since Serana and her family are pure blood vampire, she can probably never be told apart from humans unless she morphs in vampire lord form.

Except she has glowing red eyes, even at "stage one." I call bullshit.

That was a stupid aesthetics over logic decision they just implemented with Dawnguard. Annoying.

They know she is a vampire, but you can convince them that it's better to let her live cause she's a nice vampire and her relationship with her dad isn't too good so she might even help you fight him.

Also, tits.

It's not like you have a choice here. You simply pick the (single) dialog option to available to you and they now trust her.

i long for the days when tes vampires were ugly mofos that could jump over houses, fly at will and crush hlaalu guards like a skull of pig with their bare hands.

like dawnguard and skyrim itself, it doesn't have a real villain. it's just some dude that attacks you for NO reason. well, actually there is, but it is badly(as in, not at all) explained and contrived as hell. so miraak is imprisoned in the tentacle dimension and can't get out unless he absorbs you're dragon soul, at least i think, because like i said: nothing tells you anything. and as anyone versed in lore could tell you, escaping/travelling from/to oblivion is not that hard. some wizards can do it at a whim, yet this superpowered quasi dawntime dragonborn, chosen of schizodragongod of time who knows a shout with 4 words(oh my god, that's like 1 more than any other! look at how badass he is! i bet he can go supersayannord aryan lvl 57!) can't? why he needs your soul is never explained, why those 50 dragonsouls he steals from you aren't enough is not explained. why he goes straight to "attack player" instead of trying dialogue first is never explained. nothing is explained in the mainquest. miraaks goals when he finally gets parole are also left to your imagination. he wants to rule solstheim, and then the world, or something.

fuck this blatant morrowind fan pandering garbage. mushrooms, ashstorms and being called "outlander" was not what made morrowind good or cool, when will that little factoid finally reach their tiny babby brains?

also: i don't remember there ever being dwemer ruins on solstheim.

Problem is that even if vampires looked like giant ugly badasses, they'd still get lol2shot by our hero's dagger, and the illusion is broken. I'd rather them look weak/gay (those words have the same meaning) because it's more fitting to how they fight.

I enjoy reading your Bethesda bashing, but I don't understand why some of you include Morrowind in this.

Some positive Morrowind facts/opinions:
Interesting, engrossing lore. Factions, flora and fauna, intrigue, religion, metaphysics and more it's all there.
Unique, varied and well crafted environment and design.
Excellent spell creation.
Superb soundtrack.

Morrowind is not simply a "hiking simulator" (whatever that is supposed to mean).

Morrowind is a brilliant game. It is frightening to think that it came from the mind of Todd Howard. I wonder if he still dreams of making another game like that but is restricted by their corporate overlords at Zenimax, or if he is really the "EXPLOSIONS!" type guy we've come to know over the past 10 years.

Honestly, Bethesda is so known for their incompetence that sometimes I wonder if the only reason Morrowind turned out as good as it did was because they were so new to making a detailed open world that they simply crammed everything in that came to mind. The new engine probably kept them so busy that they also settled for translating Daggerfall's mechanics over as directly as possible, rather than putting thought into things like streamlining just yet. Nowadays they've gotten too good at cutting corners.

Quoting Todd Howard on the issue of fast travel in Morrowind here:
"TH: Your journey is an adventure. You don't just decide "I wanna be across the world". It should be an adventure, we should take advantage of it, y'know, getting somewhere. Finding a dungeon travelling up in the mountains, battling away through stuff. Roadside adventures are cool. Finding a guy on the side on the road, like "Have you seen my wagon?" That's cool, we're missing this opportunity by just having fast travel."

Guess he changed his mind eh.

Stuff like that really makes me believe the "slave to the corporate overlords" angle. He may actually still believe that stuff but it's not what Zenimax wants from them anymore.
