Jungle Riven, 5-man premade draft mode (ranked is disabled on EUW atm but draft normals are enabled instead). Everyone in the premades ELO was between 1400 and 1600 when S1 ended, so our opponents were pretty competent.

I've seen some pretty good lane Rivens too. But she can get counterpicked pretty hardcore in draft mode. Sticking her in the jungle protects her from nightmare matchups. And her ganks are pretty solid. Kinda like Xin Xiao level. Shorter dash, shorter but more reliable CC, higher damage. Plus she can donate first blue to mid. That's pretty huge once you relo gets close to 1400 and up.

As far as I can tell normal draft matchmaking is using your normal ELO, not your ranked ELO.

OR it's using a new Normal Draft ELO. Not sure.

Before you go "lol normal ELO" - there is actually a hidden ELO assigned to your account for normal games. LoL's matchmaking does not work without assigning ELOs to people. There is actually an ELO tied to your name for Bot games as well. I am pretty positive that normal/bot ELOs take your summoner level into account as well.

People on the forums claim in the past you could open a support ticket and ask what your normal ELO is. Not sure if that works anymore


(On a hilarious side note - the Bot ELO does indeed match you up with more competent players, meaning that new players who are starting off get stuck with other new players and can lose their bot games. On the flip side, veterans get matched up with other veterans and have an easier/faster time winning)

another side note - I highly doubt it is using Ranked ELO for the matchmaking because I have a friend who is under lvl 30 and he's been playing Normal Draft.

ok, I've been playing dota with my friends again, like I said. But just now I've been trying some of the new heroes. Holy SHIT are they OP, it's hilarious.

I don't know their names, but the orc leader guy, the tuskarr guy, the medivh hero, and one of the other new ones, hooooly shit. They are so broken! It's hilarious, I can pick any of them and not even try and dominate. I'm sure there's a complicated explanation why they are not pro choices, but in normal pub games they are just broken.

Even though I do like LoL, people are right when they say it's Dota on easy mode. Don't have to deny, even from level 1 you have practically infinite mana compared to Dota where casting spells levels 1-4 require you to have regen potions of some sort or else you'll have dry balls when the real situation comes along.

I don't think being more retardedly punishing is morally better in some way, but it's definitely less forgiving.

Well, we're all pretty competent ranked players, so our normal ELO is fairly high as well. the point I was trying to make in my post was that the opponents I had in th eriven games were competent. they used sensible lineups, there was active counterjungling. Everyone warded. Dragon/baron had pink wards etc.

You could ask for your ELO in IRC back in closed beta and if any of the mods were online (and in a good mood) they'd dig it up and tell you. It used to be you could see your ELO by opening a specific file. A copy of your ELO was stored in the debugging logs your machine generated whenever you started a game. This "feature" was removed in the preseason to S1.

Rushed soulstealer -> ninja tabi -> rylai's -> hourglass -> was supposed to be abyssal sceptre but had only negatron cloak when match ended (although I had the geld)

Got like 15 stacks of the soulstealer somewhere halfway through the match. Had ~400 AP at the end. Final stats, 6/3/17. Fucking immortal myself with feint, fucking immortal allies with the ulti.

Regarding the solomid featured guides, the only guide there that I can comment upon with any sort of authority is the Jax guide, and that one sucked major donkey balls. The author even had a video at its end showing how he and his build order in particular failed all day long while his team carried them to victory. You can't trust anyone out there can you :/

@Phage I am referring to snoopeh's guide, Jaximus Maximus. The Dyrus guide is too unstructured and reminds me more of a poorly written rant that his precious champion was nerfed than a "guide" as such, so it's hard to comment upon really.

Also since I'm lvl 20 I try not to pass any judgement since I don't know the game that well yet, but dayum, that snoopeh guide is retarded.

If people like this could play Jax in them old days, maybe there is something to the cries of OPness.

SaintVicious is a top level player, though he's more well known for his jungling. Disregard the "stale" at the top, that just means the guide hasn't been updated the past 2 patches, and frankly, nothing has happened to the character in the past 2 patches.

Basically the way to play a tournament level Jax is

- Take solo top lane
- Farm
- Get HexTech Gunblade (maybe a wriggles beforehand since item is godlike)
- Proceed to carry your team

Unfortunately where you are now, level 20, it's unlikely there's going to be a jungler on your side. Honestly, even at level 30, in normal games, it's still like a 50/50 toss up if there's gonna be a jungler on your side. (And I have +20 games won/lost so my normal ELO isn't complete shit)
