No idea how viable he is, but Vel'Koz seems like a p. fun champ. Took him for a spin as a support in a normal game. Good base damage and decent cc. Could work, in the right enviroment. I figure that a combo at 6 with Ashe or Varus would be p. deadly.

Skipped Silver IV, played Karma support and Lulu top last two promo games since I figured fun is as important as winning. Of course, both of those are very strong picks so that didn't hurt. :M

Machine gun Lulu is damn fun to play. Went wit's end, nashor's, sorc boots, hourglass, haunting guise in both games I played her today. I think I probably should have squeezed in a Lich Bane somewhere and not sure if Void Staff would have been better than guise->torment. Also thinking about either grail or Morellonomicon for CDR and mana regen since you are unlikely to get blue.

Garen is a good champ to get started with, very straightforward and with a kit that is easy to read. Remember to use his R as a finishing move since its damage scales with the target's missing health. Other than that, focus on learning stuff like last hitting (landing the killing blow on minions), gold wins games.

Another good champ to learn early is Ashe. Always useful and since she has no repositioning skills, you are forced to learn positioning. She's also the queen of kiting.

If you like Garen, keep playing him. Other than that, I'd suggest not unlocking any champs until after you hit summoner level 20. You need that IP for two decent rune pages. Don't bother with Tier 1+2 runes, they're not worth it. Keep to playing the weeks f2p champs. That way you get to try some different champs and might find new favorites.

He's more like Axe, iirc.

yeah ur right is moar fun when he's banned in 98.4% of all matches across tournament and queued play

(also those changes are a big maybe, they've also been testing upping his defense as pay-off for the lowered offensive stats)

Well, if these changes go through, Kass will be forced to build more tanky by default since virtually all big mana items also give defensive stats. Not a big fan of Riot's method of completely changing champs when they are either troublesome or unpopular. I guess it beats Olafing them. Shame though, this robs Ryze of his unique position as the sole champ that scales with mana.

I usually don't care about the daily Kassadin nerfs but this latest rework is hilarious. No more silence! Reworked passive!
I hope they continue however, his passive makes it impossible to trade with him and that was the problem. If he ults on you, there needs to be a risk attached. The silence might be enough, we'll see.

Olaf is p. good right now, to the point where they had to nerf his axe a bit. I main him on our ranked team.

Anyway, I'm down with the fact that just pounding Kass into the ground isn't optimal, but after tweaking him for 4 patches and him still being a 100% sure, every single time ban, I can understand why they'd do it. It's a running joke that LP-team has one less ban, for christ sakes...

What I always found amusing in Bronze league is that there would be the dumb motherfucker after a Kass nerf that wouldn't ban him because he got nerfed. Then Kassadin just jumps, silences, and barfs a team to death. Some people don't realize that certain kits no matter how many number nerfs are still powerful by design.

"Olafing" refers to his pre-rework status where he was just nerfed into the ground until not even Voyboy would touch him and he sat on one of the lowest winrates for ages. He is pretty good now, I agree, and also plays differently from old Olaf.

I know what you meant, just meant to say that lol isn't a static environment. As the game changes so does the champion even though no changes were made to them. Defensive Masteries are the reason for Olaf's new rise when his buffs weren't enough, while other factors made Kassadin even better than he was (and he never was out of favor in neither queues nor tournament environs). So yeah.

Seriously, if you don't accept that Kassadin should be nerfed, then no other champion ever should. I can't remember the last time we've had ban rates like this for a champion across skill levels and queues.
