But why does it say "Platform: Gamecube" ?
My first link was to Paper Mario for the N64. My second link was for Thousand Year Door for the Gamecube.

And I decided to doublecheck those old console RPG prices. Good god:
http://www.ign.com/games/final-fantasy-iii-us/snes-6865
MSRP: 79.99 USD
http://www.ign.com/games/chrono-trigger/snes-6858
MSRP: 76.98 USD
http://www.ign.com/games/super-mario-rpg-legend-of-the-seven-stars/snes-466
MSRP: 69.99 USD
Hours of grind gameplay means it's totally justifiable to price gouge. :)

Which one did you like the most?

Now that's more like it. Recognizable brands being priced their worth. :obviously:

I'm not sure why that's relevant? I was showing how charging full price for some "cheap-looking" 2D thing isn't without precedent and they were both successful.

And I remember stores charging more for PC-games that came on several discs. :? If FF3 came out yesterday on Steam, especially without riding an established and successful game-franchise, people wouldn't be expected to shell out 80$ for it.

Yeah it's kind of anachronistic to compare a release from what, 20+ years ago? To today releasing same game for higher-than-the-average price range. Same thing with the market back then, really.

Cheap-looking? Final Fantasy 3 looked cutting edge when it came out.
"Cheap-looking" was in reference to Paper Mario compared to other 2001 titles and The Thousand Year Door to other 2004 titles.

Oh, yeah we can agree on that. Hated Paper Mario.
It could have been Super Mario RPG 2, but nooo...
