ABOUT THIS GAME
This place is shrouded in mystery. Horrible legends and gloomy ancient stories full of unimaginable things have been going around for centuries.

The Endless Dungeon. That was created long before people...
So say the old people. Now - a place of darkness and ugly creatures.

Spark in the Dark is an atmospheric Dungeon Crawler in a medieval dark fantasy setting, where the hero dives into the depths of a grim ancient Dungeon.

  • 5 class heroes with unique skills.
  • Bloody battles with monstrous creatures, deadly traps.
  • A lot of interactions with the environment, including testing the skills of the hero.
  • Secret places.
  • Deep lore. About a hundred books and annals with stories revealing the secrets of the dark Dungeon. Diaries and notes. Points of interest.
  • Leveling up the skills of the hero as they are used. Blessings, curses, injuries.
  • Damaging and repairing the equipment.
  • Procedural Generation. Monsters, equipment, loot, stats and some level elements are generated differently each time.

What terrible secrets keep dark depths in themselves? Is there a limit to the Abyss? Who lived here before us?

Try to survive in the darkness of endless Dungeon full of ancient secrets and terrible creatures. Or stay here forever, trying to find a way out!

This game kind of look like Examina without the physic-based combat. Hopefully it will come out in a foreseeable future unlike Examina. Free demo available on steam, so feel free to check it out.

We want to share our progress with you and we are planning to update demo version at the end of December with various Dungeon & gameplay improvements.

Thank you for your feedback on the first demo on Steam, it helps us develop the game!
We cannot do everything quickly, but we listen to many of your ideas and suggestions!

Statistics and achievements

Now in the hero window you can see statistics and achievements for the current game. Previously, this information was only on the final screen.

If you find all the secret locations, this will also show up as a corresponding achievement, although until then the total number of secret locations in the level will remain unknown.

Obtaining the achievement will notify you that all secret locations have been found.
The same applies to books - the finding of all unique books on the level is now recorded as an achievement.

Light and night vision of monsters

When the hero is in the light or with the lantern on, the monsters see him with 100% vision. However, when the hero is in the dark, the monster's range of vision decreases depending on how well it sees in the dark. All monsters have different vision in the dark.

The bestiary displays information about the vision of the monsters.

Heroes have a new skill Shields

It determines the effectiveness of using shields in fight.

For example, the Warrior has initially Shields skill = 3 and the Thief has initially Shields skill = 1.
If the Thief takes the shield and the enemy hits him with a powerful two-handed, all stamina can be taken from one blow, and the block will be knocked out in this way. But the Warrior will be able to withstand several such blows.

The skill is level up as the shields are used.

Also, weapon blocks have been improved. Removal of stamina depends on the level of possession of the weapon with which the hero is defending.
When hit in the block, the skill of the weapon is slightly increased.

Improved the system of receiving injuries

Now, getting injuries depends on the type of armor:

  • For heavy armor, injuries are only obtained on a critical hit.
  • For medium armor, injuries are obtained with a critical hit and a 50/50 chance for a normal hit.
  • For light armor, injuries are obtained with a critical hit and a normal hit (this was the case for all armor before).
  • Without armor, injuries are obtained with any hit.
If the weapon is poisoned, the poison is always applied on a critical and normal hit, regardless of the type of armor.

AND:
  • Some armor can enhance a hero's Constitution.
  • Different color of the blood of monsters. The weapon is dyed upon hitting the victim's corresponding color.
  • Added new animations for crowbar and Ripper skill, improved some of the previous hero animations.
  • The hero can carry as many lanterns and crowbars as he wants, limiting himself only to the maximum carried weight.
  • The hero has new, more authentic underpants)
  • Improved the mechanics of climbing and rappelling, various level improvements.
  • Numerous minor improvements and bug fixes.
  • Optimization, reduced peak processor loads.
  • Improved English localization!

  • Combat rly needs to be improved , this "let them attack and then attack them from a side when they're doin animation" is rly stupid ,repetitive and challengeless .
  • Character Inertia: Player Character spins too freely allowing for easy kiting.
  • Tooltips: The Skills/Stats are vague and unexplained
  • Weightless 1H weapons
  • Fog of War: Secret rooms aren't hidden.
  • Also, permadeath might be a plus to some, but for me:prosper:

Oh my goodness. That gameplay is nauseating! Camera whooshing all around makes me want to puke. The writing is terrible. This is like those horrible early access shovelware trash that you'd see dumped on steam. Hard fucking pass.

I am here joining you live on the scene where I've just gotten word that RPG Codex mainstay and Monk enthusiast, Pink Eye has declared not just any sort of pass... not a soft pass, not a hard pass, but a hard FUCKING pass! Right now we can see that the Levels of Passes is being brought up on your screen here and... and, yep, that's just it. You can see a Hard FUCKING Pass is above a Hard Pass in terms of severity and typically when this is said it's usually what moderators call a "Pass of Passion." It's not truly meant, but the last time a Hard FUCKING Pass went through it caused what could only be called the R34 Shitstorm.

R34 Shitstorm brought on by the last documented Hard Fucking Pass when Neverwinter Nights 2 screens surfaced in 2005.

Now we don't know what this "Spark in the Dark" has done to Pink Eye in the past or present or even the future, but we really hope here for those of us in The Glow that they carefully reconsider and do not send the Gazebo subforum into Atlantis because that's what this R34 Shitstorm is gonna do. It's gonna kill families, it's gonna kill Magic players, it's gonna kill Fifth Edition bystanders and worst of all some of this may spill over into the JRPG Forum which as we know due to its Kowloon Walled City type of design would spell disaster for any and all Japanophiles.

We'll keep you posted, right now it looks like we have a bit of a stand-off. Here you can see Pink Eye assuming a martial artist stance, likely owing to his vaguely homo-erotic Monk obsession, and Codexian Officers unsure of how to approach. I'm told he might have 4chan links ready to explode if his demands are not met. Scary situation here, and in this reporter's many eyes? A goddamn shame it's before CHRISTMAS of all the days.

Back to the 5 AM infomercials hosted by Infinitron and "Who did Avellone rape this week" missing women slides.

yeah this looks like dogshit. when it first popped up I assumed it was just some engine tech demo proof of concept thing and virtually everything else was a placeholder, you're telling me this is actually the game?
