For the love of God, get a texture replacement mod for those low LOD ground textures. Man, do those look hideous in vanilla.

Playing COP for the first time with MISERY 1.0 is a good option if you want the game to be difficult, otherwise just play it vanilla with the mods mentioned by skacky.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

STALKER COP Misery 2.02
Doing a quick run of Beard's dredge station quest + an emission while returning.
Max visuals with max stuttering, but quality drops on youtube.

Maybe I'll do an LP but 2.02 might still be unstable.

I have played only a couple of hours of Stalker and left because I though all missions would be like the hunting bloodsucker one, which became a boring savescrumfest. Apparently they are not?

Does misery adds quests? I tried russian mod SGM 2.0 to see if there is some tasteful new content, but can't comment on the quality for now.

Nope, it doesn't add any new quests or change existing ones. It could use new content because artifacts aren't worth shit and there is not enough quests in CoP to give you enough money to get through pripyat. They also didn't "fixed" "Get to Pripyat" quest so you have to spend 80k on completely useless SEVA suit even if you have good enough protection to go through underground pass.

You will find SEVA suit in perfect condition during your trip to Pripyat so selling this one and the one you had to bought will get your money back.

The fix should be special environment trigger that kills player if they don't have SEVA on.

The main problem with the tunnel isn't supposed to be the toxic gas itself, but the fact they pretty much forced the breathable air out when pumping it in so no matter your filers and protection, if you're getting your air from outside you'll suffocate there even if you aren't poisoned.

But SEVA offers weaker protection to radiation, toxic environment and heat than ecologist suit, and you can't go there with that. There is no reason to force player to buy SEVA when you can frankenstein yourself better protection in MISERY by upgrading your suit/helmet and using mutant skins or some radiation removing equpiment in artifacts slots.

Or they could simply make SEVA useful. That would be easier way around.

One thing I don't understand in misery is the artifacts. Despite the listed protection from fire/acid/electric and the added containment units they do absolutely nothing as far as I can tell. Or maybe I was just doing something wrong.

You gotta equip them so they show in the available slots of your armor. You'll know it's equppied once radiation starts kicking in.

And that's the weird part. Even with the now needed artifact containment module, the artifacts I have, when equipped do nothing. A few of them raise the overall weight limit but as for the promised environmental protection they do nothing at all.

In Misery repair costs are logarithm so repair items asap. I have made over 300k now. Also 2.03 is coming.

Does quickfix for 2.0.2 works properly for you? Because Misery crashes every time I try to start new game/load save when I use it (and yes, I tries reinstalling). Normal 2.0.2 without quickfix works fine though.

Quickfix(the latest one, there are 3 of them) works for me. But if I quit the game I cannot load or start a new game until I restart my computer.

I believe it multiplies by a percent of the suits inherent protection. Thus fuck all protection multiplied by 248.931% leaving fuck all protection. Or more protection than you need multiplied by 876.23% leaving more protection than you need.

I wish they had done the worn/corroded shit with suits. That way you could have variety such as eco suits that are fucked except for say thermal stuff or exos that only protect against rupture/tentacle rape. Still loving it though. For me Stalker is all about moments the A-Life or whatever it's called produce. i like the balance they've got. Not too crazy, not too dull. Charging straight to the Jupiter plant via Strelok's stashes with nothing but a sawn-off and some cigarettes is great fun. Fuck the quests, it's all about the zone. Go out, set yourself weird challenges and see what happens. As much as I love Fallout and Gothic, they should take inspiration from Space Rangers. It's a far better fit in terms of gameplay.

Well, it looks they seriously fucked MISERY up with 2.0.2 patch. Pseudodogs are one-shotting my sniper in clear sky suit from nimble, well they don't kill me in one shot but I'm getting stunlocked and just raped. It feels like fighting wolves in unpatched Gothic 3. And they put TWO controllers, poltergeist and fucking PSEUDOGIANT in iron forest, how the fuck are you supposed to get through that without grinding the shit out of bandits and buying yourself end-game gear?

Also, game crashes every 5 minutes and quickfix refuses to fucking work at all. This makes me seriously butthurt because 2.0.1 was quite stable for STALKER mod.

The only way I could deal with the mutants at iron forest was with the the dragonov sniper rifle from the southern plateau and to approach the area from the eastern side near the electrical anomalies. From there it was a matter of leaning around the wall and massive amounts of luck, timing, quicksaving and save scumming all the while popping off shots before the controllers one shotted me. The PSEUDOGIANT just eats ammo so I threw nades and pumped him with rounds from any and everything I could. AP rounds work best. The poltergeist was the easiest to deal with overall since for me it stayed near the downed Hind and patrolled in a pattern with let me snipe it before the annoying dance with the controllers even started.
