Well, so far the game appears to be shite. So my guy, who looks like a monkey and walks all constipated, has just gone through a scrapper yard doing Doom Eternal retardo spider-man shit while listening to the DEI workers the empire is apparently employing to recycle their ships. Apparently i used the forced to save my squid friend even though i don't think i did anything. I saw the prompt but i'm not even sure if i pressed anything.

Will press on i until i get out of this elaborate intro.

Game is also slightly Souls-like.

I'm not sick of Souls-like so i don't care. Might be because i never played a "Souls-like" before, just actual Souls. Hard to be "sick" of something you never experienced.

Academy was mid except for the multiplayer. Outcast was better (single player i mean), but Jedi Knight was a far superior game to both.

Anyway, so far the game is basically an interactive movie. Will reseve judgement when the gameplay actually starts.

The Souls DNA is total shit in a Star Wars game. Problem's that Star Wars is much more real than Souls. Characters act more human than the cryptic Souls characters. They speak more literally. It's also photographic rather than stylized/anime. So the enemies respawning when you rest feels extremely odd. Not to mention the chests taken from Souls all having useless cosmetics, if it's like the last game. Or is this the first one? The titles suck. Does it still have the ridiculous Super Mario 64 fun slides?

First one. Got it for like a couple of bucks off a keyshop, didn't realize it was EA and not Steam then so i felt scammed lmao. I load it up once then forgot about it, and didn't remember i had 50GB sitting uselessly on my SSD for all this time.

Just did the whole train sequence which ends with the wombyn Darth Vader. So far this barely even feels like a game. It's like a scripted movie, like an Hollywood slop version of Dragon's Lair without the difficulty. There's like platforming and climbing but it's all automatic? Like you walk on a ledge but can't even fail the fuck is the point? Also, i don't get how this is even remotely similar to Souls. I mean sure you get some mild similarities like rolling or stamina but it's like the most barebone shit possible. That said this is still the tutorial so we'll see. So far there's NO level design of any kind.

And by God the negress why is she so fucking ugly.

BTW, since i started playing for some reason i kept feeling like the visuals would get blurry constantly. Like i couldn't catch it i would see it then stop and it wasn't there, until i actually spotted it for good it's basically some kind of random depth of field like wtf is this shit. No option to take it out from the menu i gotta go look if there's a mod or something. Fucking hell why is modern gayming so utter shit.

Jedi Academy has more fluid combat and it doesn't have the stupid lock on system where you can only attack a single enemy by locking into him, clearly a console feature.
Jedi Academy also has tons of different moves, acrobatics, lightsaber moves and three different lightsaber styles.

Well, i'm not going to argue with that this game is barely even a game but i assume things are going to open up. We'll see. So far this is total slop with the only positive being a decent, original trilogy style atmosphere.

Wow, i just installed this mod and the game looks so much better:

https://www.nexusmods.com/starwarsjedifallenorder/mods/574?tab=description

WTF is wrong with modern devs and their fixiation with blurriness.

I was exploring around and got one shot by some kind of frog. That pissed me off so i killed it lol. All i got was XP and some lore about a boglin or whatever. Lame, but i can see now why the game is a Souls-like. Took me a few tries to kill the lizard and there's now some exploration to be had so i guess i got the ball rolling with this game.

The only positive thing about this game is that it isnt as much of a piece of garbage as the other Star Wars games released in the last decade.

Is the level design actually good?

The only other Souls-clone i played was Hellpoint, which was pretty ghetto but it did sort of capture the classic Dark Souls experience when it came to the level design.

The whole tutorial sequence had me think this game was basically Uncharted with Souls parry or something but i now see there's side paths and things to explore. It's pretty minor so far but hey, it's something.

I also saw there's an Ongbal video about a boss from this is it really that hard to warrant that? The frog was kinda tough but i suspect i just got there prematurely.

Yes, the level design is pretty good here. Also first 2h or so suck and are not representative of the whole game at all. It's better than most Souls likes, surprisingly.

Level design is all over the place. Zeffo is good, Kashyyk is a glorified corridor, Dathomir is okay, but gets bonus points for nailing Dathomiri vibes.

As I’ve said before, one’s appreciation for this game is a direct function of how much they like the OT/Old EU. It gets a lot of bonus points for nailing those aesthetics if that’s your cup of tea.

Well, i do like those aesthetics. I think it was one of the strongest points in the original trilogy (the weakest bieng an inhability by Lucas to direct his actors lol), which trickled down on all the old Star Wars games.

I'm still on the first planet and there's a surprisingly large amount of nooks and crannies to discover, so that's a pleasant surprise. Considering this is a mainstream title i expected NO level design at all. I literally thought the whole intro section was going to be the whole game.

Alas, seems like the reward for exploration is the exploration itself as there's really nothing much in terms of loot. The cosmetics are pointless and even if you like them they don't provide any sense of progression. I was able to make a gold lightsaber with some "premium" cosmetics i have included in the game and i'm already settled with this.

In either case, i don't hate the game as much as i thought i was going to. Most annoying thing is all the jumping and parkour you have to do what's with zoomers and their obsession with making traveling more complicated than it needs to be?

Most of the “loot” is garbage cosmetics but there are extra heals to be found or whatever if I recall so without a guide it’s still in your best interest to explore everything. That said, I played on hard from the start and enjoyed the game for what it is - Star Wars Dark Souls. Plot is dumb, do yourself a favor and download the mod that makes Debra Wilson wear a helmet at all times (surprisingly still up on Nexus, think it was created before they became super buttmad any mods touching certain types of things).

I'm very into cock and ball torture
Nice how they took inspiration from real swordfighting in the movesets, albeit somewhat lightly.

That dude looks like Sawyer in an alternate reality where he didn't start down the tranny path.
