Presently the endgame Juggernaut dps Vengeance build is much better than anything a Marauder can pull off. Add heavy armour and a ton of defensive skills on top of that. Sill, 4.0 is just around the corner, no telling what ever BugoWare might want to change.
I'm going to give that a try then. The heavier armour and defense is what sells it.
A scrub question about crew skills. I noticed when I gave a companion profession skills that the robot on my Agents starship also gained those skills. Can each companion have unique professions, or am I limited to one lot of professions per character?
Also. Should I take a Mission skill as the third profession for just more gathering?
That's actually what hinders Marauder in endgame. It's hard to be effective when you are paper-thin melee and bosses do a lot of PBAOE damage. I dunno if I would say a highly skilled Marauder is worse than a Juggernaut, but it'd be a big learning curve of perfectly weaving in and out of melee range.

Definitely. It gives your other characters something to do in their free time, and every Mission skill gives companion gifts.
Also just pick your other two skills as Gathering skills while you're leveling, because you don't have the money or the time to Craft while you're leveling. Unless you're a masochist. You can respec later.
You know, I hate half the animations. And I love the rest (or 1/3 or 1/4). But usually a class has a mix of these and it's so irritating.
Mercenary: Dumb-ass-fuck Unload cross-arms-pistols-sideways pose. Honestly I'll take the pistols-sideways style for gangsta points. But crossing arms. What the fuck?
....Yet Death from Above is unmatchable.
Commando counterpart: ...Doesn't have that dumbass Unload, which was a complete dealbreaker for playing a Merc. (from what I read, Powertech had Unload before, and it was just a single pistol, which I can tolerate)/
...But no Death from Above, and Mortar Strike is a lot worse. However, since Mortar Strike I can tolerate to some level, not a complete dealbreaker, Commando gets the edge.
I dislike much of the Sith Warrior animations. Now, I understand they are RAGE and thus fight more aggressively. But they're still swinging a cut-through-anything lightsaber, not a baseball bat. This is why I'm rage spec Juggernaut. It has two ranged force abilities: Raging Blast and Force Crush. They're still unsubtle, yes, but there's a difference between over-the-top use of the Force vs. over-the-top slamming the lightsaber like it's a sledgehammer.
JK lightsaber animations are so much better. But its storyline can suck a dick. Consular animations can suck five dicks. But so can the Inquisitor storyline (yeah, that was my first character).
I suppose having Rage Juggernaut, Sniper Agent, Ruffian Scoundrel, and (whichever) Powertech is a pretty good selection though. Not to mention decent stories. I guess I should stop complaining so much.
Also Grey deLisle (female BH) > Jennifer Hale ANY DAY. Why? See following video:
That's actually her, but not from the actual show. Can't link clips from the actual show because they're copyright, and thus any Youtube clips of Avatar have all the voices pitched up a few notches.[/quote]
Also:
Solid Snake is JK male.
Phil and Lil (yes, Rugrats) are/is female Smuggler.
Nathon Drake/Superboy+Superman on Young Justice/Desmond Miles/Steven Heck (ALPHA BROTOCOL) = male Consular
^ Which is why I made my Consular look like Superman. And it fits really, really well.
And yet the actor who hasn't done much = male Sith Warrior, which is pretty damn good. (Mark Bazely, who all I know of is some random background character in one of the Bourne movies)
I think the most unnatural sound for me is JK male... I think because Hayter (Snake) is not used to that kind of voice. Fucking Bioware directors, I swear.
One more class to (*re-) finish the prologue and thus get all story prologue missions done. (Doing each planet, aka 2 classes, gives 20CC lol)
Fun thing is I don't remember any of the story missions except for VERY minor details.. that are irrelevant to the story. Which means I really might do an Agent again. (But not the Inquisitor)
*Dumbass game doesn't recognize my story-finished Inquisitor and Agent.

What's the most annoying character to level, btw? Usually that's the one with the first companion that's least useful, right? I want to level that class before 12xp is over. For example I'll save my Scoundrel for 10/20 since I can just stealth past everything. And my Juggernaut and Powertech can handle everything. Not rolling a Sentinel or Marauder or Inquisitor so those aren't in question. (Well, I do want to play through as a Sage)

You'll miss the worse one to level; the Sentinel / Marauder. You're really fragile without a good tank companion (T7 doesn't count since it's really hard to gear him early on) and the good cooldowns are a bit too long (Rebuke / Cloak of Pain). A healer companion is helpful but I still found myself having to 'rest' every pull...
None of the others are that painful to level other than putting up with the awful stories on Trooper / Jedi Knight.
Sage is OK, but you're seem to be an animationfag so it'll annoy the hell out of you. You are right though...they are crap on Sage...throwing pebbles at people /facepalm. Mine is a female, pure light side...voice works really well for a calm Jedi type if you've already got a dark side Shadow.
Completed Chapter 2 of the Trooper story, so I've got the endurance buff for all my other characters now.
If you play Trooper, you must play it dark side otherwise you'll find the "FOR THE REPUBLIC!" stuff very tedious. Chapter 1 is ok, because you're basically hunting down renegades, but Chapter 2 is where the Republic stuff starts to kick in. Plays similar to the worst parts of the Sith Warrior, Jedi Knight and Imp Agent storylines - take out a superweapon. It is a little better handled though, because your companions actually do shit instead of sitting on your ship when you're not using them. The final mission in Chapter 2 plays out like a shittier version of Mass Effect 2's Suicide Mission. Nowhere near as good, but at least your team are running around with the slight inkling that maybe they are helping you out.
The other storylines should have done stuff like this. If I remember correctly, only the Sith Warrior had companions that seemed to do stuff in the main storyline (Jaesa Wilsaam and Malavai Quinn).
Dark side Jennifer Hale is a lot of fun to listen to, though. Think Commander Shepard, if we could play her as a greedy psycho rather than a reckless soldier with a heart of gold, like she was in Mass Effect.
I'm lv 44 and debating whether to finish Chapter 3 now, before 12x exp comes to an end, or just take a break from the game until the new expansion hits on Tuesday and play it on my Sith Warrior.
Classes completed so far:
DS male Sith Warrior (Juggernaut)
DS male Sith Inquisitor (Sorcerer)
DS male Imperial Agent (Sniper)
LS male Jedi Knight (Sentinel)
Gotcha. Yeah I'm also not going to roll a JK because the CHOSEN ONE story is already painful in the prologue. I'm curious how bad the Trooper story is so I'm gonna play it, lol.
Sadly I already have a Lvl 50 Sith Assassin so I'm not going to play a Sorcerer, especially because I never liked the storyline. Felt like the Inquisitor had a Warrior type storyline (GET MORE POWERFUL... and get 4 artifacts ahem Bioware tradition) whereas the Warrior (so far) seems to emphasize being more discrete in interacting with other characters (or at least Baras emphasizes that).
I haven't intentionally tried to go for a LS or DS character. Sometimes I'll just pick the more lulzy option, sometimes I'll do the opposite of my alignment because the situation is retarded or my mission-giver is a prick. Also I turn off all the alignment notifiers so sometimes what I think is LS is actually DS, lol.
Though I do a bunch of "RPing" (it's not really RPing as much as I have the desperate hope that there is some C&C, as the Esseles and Black Talon have a small amount of that)
I mean, my Agent tends to be forgiving but hell yeah I'll let Nem'ro turn Hutta into chaos because I want 100% certainty the plan works out. Hutta's just a small speck in the Imperium, all that matters is Nemro's support.
My BH is a true Mandalorian, dammit. If you fight with honor then you'll have my respect. Cowards get shot. Actually the main reason is that always asking for fucking credits is so fucking annoying.
I heard the Consular storyline is a "behind-the-scenes" diplomatic/manipulative kinda theme... so I'm gonna be making LS and DS choices in order to become the Emperor.
My Warrior currently brown-noses all his masters... so that he can backstab become the master when least expected. That is the Sith way, you know.
Depends on the person... What I heard is that the gamer who wants the typical (banal) EPIC HERO loves the JK. Because to them it is the "true Star Wars experience."
Of course Luke was never superbly praised except for Obi-Wan's faith in him, and Luke was a super reluctant hero anyway.
Anyways, I think it's more-so that there is a range of decent storylines and really shitty storylines, and the JK is above average in that manner. Though I seriously am not going to play it because the fucking Jedi Council is already telling me I'm the best Jedi ever in the prologue.

You're a scheming Sith Lords enforcer on the Warrior's storyline...very much like Vader hunting Luke Skywalker and turning him to the dark side, etc. The Inquisitor story on the other hand makes you basically an artefact hunter and then someone trying to stop themselves getting run over by Darth Thanton...bit dull, especially if you were expecting to be like Emperor Palpatine. I do kind of like the Inquisitor RP options though...you can really be absolutely batshit insane without it feeling completely out of place.

I do the same, I usually have a plan in mind for a character...my Sage was suppose to be the ultimate light side...not a single dark side point. It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be to be honest with the plot line and it made an effort to explain extreme light side options unlike the JK story line.
The Imperial Agent is made for a grey side character...mission first approach, kill your targets even if it's a bit harsh, take subtle options to avoid unnecessary risks, defend the Empire even if it means killing the odd Sith Lord.
Bounty Hunter is quite good for RP as well. Ultimate professional doing the job to spec no matter what was fun...crew doesn't bitch too much either, even Mako when you kill targets.

Yeah I just wish the Inquisitor was also scheming...
Oh well that was my first character and I don't remember the batshit part. I think I was actually non-batshit and sane so maybe that's why I didn't like it. Hah.

My characters are all about HONOR. Must not DISHONOR your FAMIRIE.
Hmm you made me realize I make all my characters sane. I must change that. Let's see... I'm most likely going to play Warrior, Consular (unless it sucks past halfway), and Smuggler. Maybe BH later. I can't make the Smuggler insane because he's a Mal Reynolds clone. I heard the Consular must be sane and manipulative, otherwise it's not a fun storyline. And currently my Warrior is all about HONOR.
Tanno Vik, the Trooper companion, is fucking brilliant.
He is despicable in almost every way. He celebrates indiscriminate violence and cold blooded murder. He is a war profiteer and has no qualms putting death bounties on people who get in his way. His dialogue and his voice actor are pretty damn funny too.
Surprising that he's a Republic companion to be honest, but there you go. Right now I'm using Elara Dorne in fights because she's a medic, but I'm going to start switching to Tanno Vik before every conversation now. The last one I was in, I punched someone and he took over and started pummeling the guy while he was on the ground.
God do I hate Darth Baras's armour. I'm finding him very hard to take seriously as some kind of bad ass master and dark lord of the Sith. Every time I see him wobble around all I can think of is that the only thing he is a master of is the dark arts of pork pie eating. And then he glued the silver foil pork pie wrapping to his body to make that armour of his.
Makes me wish they had hired Stephen Russell to reprise his role as Karras. That would have completed the picture for me.
But anyway two things. I keep seeing people spam referral links in chat. Some offering 500k to come to some point on the map at which point they will give 8 days of sub time. Is this the scam of Swtor or what. And is there anything I should get with cartel coins? Anything vital? I see the Dark initiates robes for a low price but nothing else that seems worth it.

I just quit my Sage for animationfagness. Though for different reasons. I hate the fucking animation for Force Quake. (A) RETICLE GO AWAY AFTER I SHOOT. (B) I barely see shit and it's confirmed that the sound of the quake only occurs in the first hit. I don't like the pebbles but I really do like Project. Cascading Debris looks cool too.
I mean the class is solid, I just soloed a Heroic 10 at level 16 as a TK Sage. Got me a pretty cool robe. Sadly I'm abandoning the character ;_; (OTOH I upgraded all level 13 Galactic Starfighter armors for both me and my hench, so we'll be kicking ass by then)
I can't do a light side Consular. Or at least I've heard that Dark Side Consular gives you options for scheming and manipulation. Or "ends justify the means" stuff on a macro scale.
Still, I'm going to roll a Shadow just to see the story (how bad it is), so:
Question: What spec should I level as a Shadow? Or is most fun. Any of the Disciplines have good AOE attacks so I can just blitz past normal/weak mobs?

But yeah, BugoWare ruined him by making him obese. Baras was a thin Chancellor-Palpatine-like bastard in the TOR-related comics, but they had to ruin him :/ Oh well, the man was ordered to sign the peace treaty with the Republic. You would have to calm your nerves some way too!
I agree about Darth Baras. Couldn't take anything in the Sith Warrior storyline seirously because of how laughable he looked. His raspy voice and helmet just made it worse. An obese guy with asthma. The only reason I can think of why they made him fat was to make the character models more varied, but it just doesn't fit a Sith Lord. By all means, use those in the other class stories but not the Sith one.

Well, that depends on the type of Sith Lord. Palladius, the Nar Shaddaa cult master from the Inquisitor storyline, is obese, but he is decadent and content with ruling his little cult. That's ok in my book. Baras, however, is a consummate schemer, bent on becoming a Dark Councillor. Fat is the last thing he should be.

Also a fat Juggernaut force leaping to you is fucking scary. I made my Warrior Body Type 1 for lulz, but still hoping to be able to bulk him up over anorexia level using armor... but if that doesn't work, I'll spend 80CC changing him to beast mode.
I still think my Fat Agent worked really well though:
I honestly can't stand Body Type 2, it's bordering anorexia level. Body Type 1 I can accept because it's humorous. So actually my Twi'lek Assassin right here is Body Type 3, not the typical 2:
IMO he doesn't look anything like a meathead.

Sup bro, just respecced my Jugg into Vengeance. What should my first three abilities be in a PVE rotation and should I use Vette to up my DPS or Quinn to heal me?
Open with Sabre Throw + Enrage to build up Rage and then Force Charge to primary target. Should have full Rage when you hit and a sundered target.
For single target use Impale > Ravage > Shatter > Force Scream...hit them with Sundering Assault to rebuild Rage. This rotation makes sure you get all the procs the spec has for auto crit Force Scream and the reset on and Rage building on Ravage. After that just prioritise Shatter (for the DoT) > Impale (hard single GCD hit & DoT) > Force Scream (third DoT), throw in Ravage to pad out the rotation and use Sundering Assault to keep your Rage up.
For AoE targets you want to use Vengeful Slam / Smash on cooldown, but only after you put the DoTs on your primary target, that way you'll spread them to the other targets. Sweeping Slash should also be used if you have three or more targets in range and you have the Path Carver utility but only as a filler.
Companion is up to you. Vette if you want to kill faster, though you'll have to 'rest' longer between pulls, Quinn if you want to rofl stomp everything without pause (Seething Hatred utility makes this fun, you don't have to stop to rest or recharge cooldowns if you've got the gear and Quinn is up to snuff). Note that healers do a surprising amount of damage on top of the healing...

Cheers bro. My Quinn has shit gear but that won't matter tomorrow when expansion hits. I am hoping that Presence and influence will buff him up somewhat.
