There should be a handful of SW\HM copycats nowadays on steam. Just like devs copy that vampire survivors game, which was kinda of a copy of Crimson Land.
Farming games are mobile territory. Even the most lazy cash grab with sliding puzzles will net you more money than any steam release would.
The most popular farming games on mobile trump Stardew in terms of profits in the several millions.
That's fascinating. SDV is on mobile as well but as a one-time pay to buy (aka normal) game. What are the games that are out-earning it, and by how much are they doing it?

What was that facebook game, farmville? I remember hearing about it and shrugging, then i went back to my OCD EUO online gaming.

Are there though? I checked some years ago and found nothing (via search engines at least). And yeah, I played Crimsonland back in the day. Great game. I think they added paid missions or something at some point.

Yes, there are enough games like this: My Time at Portia, Roots of Pacha etc-etc. Most of them are as faggy as they look. I only played Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia before getting bored with the whole slew of farming\life sims. They are very time consuming too.

That is the problem, freemium shit is the norm on mobile.

What are the games that are out-earning it, and by how much are they doing it?
Farmville is a obvious example.
Hay day. Banks easily millions per month just from microtransaction and ads.
Spongebob adventures in a jam is popular with kids and aggressive with microtransactions.

Didn't even know Farmville was still around, thought it was a boomer facebook game but I guess the newer generations are equally gullible. MTs and kids just sound wrong, what kind of stupid do you have to be to give kids unsupervised purchasing power?

Another similar game with mostly positive reviews. An alchemist\doctor sim. Don't know if any good.

The way they handle dlcs is just trash

Where's the Grim Reaper mod where you kill everyone and "harvest" their souls?

I've found Graveyard Keeper to be extremely bloated with things to do, yet not giving you a clear direction and the tutorial is endless.

Because that's the game. A massive glorified grindfest essentially. At the same time, it's not so bad like with other games from that studio. They try to make grind cool or something of the sort. Also an optimization game. Figuring out how to get through it effectively. Overall it's similar to SDV, there's even fucking garden, too.

I thought about getting that tbh. Isn't there an innkeeper game as well? I see weird management games that have popped up.

Gleaner heights seems like SDV with a horror twist but I don't understand what the seasons listed as DLC are; if they're supposed to be like seasons in a TV show it might be better to steer clear. Dev is still active on twitter but the last patch seems to have been 2 years ago according to the steam forum.

This seems to be barely similar and much harder but there are common mechanics. Serin also has a ton of other stuff and seems to be abandoned by the dev.

Got SDV over both of them and I think both of them stood a chance if they were more competent or at least more informative about what their unique selling points were. Looking at their steam page and reviews, I find nothing that says :get this game for y feature".

I didn't count something like My Time at Portia. Gleaner Heights certainly looks more like it though. Still, more in the style of Stardew Valley which is a bad thing.

Wouldn't that be Cult of the Lamb sort of?

Hmm... Fields of Mistria, where Minako from Sailor moon gives up being a scout and decides to be a farmer... right?

Can you imagine my life in Stardew Valley (I live in Willamette Valley). "Keighn's struggles are the horde of rats destroying the land and allies fallen, killed by neighbors/loggers/government. His other struggles are his crazy drunk dope smoking rat-feeding parents who may have other issues like the occult. And Keighn's insanity has warped his mind to even battle God & the devil. Some crazy shit on that stinking plot of land. As you play you just want to give up on life and die. But the hobo found the secret of iron, so while it pours he lifts knowing some day he'll use the gains to end the second apocalyptic rat war."

Yeah, next video she hung herself from a noose.

Wasted 30 min walking while charging my phone. Meh. So people was woke, gay, socialism games?

Bleh!

The game is alright for what it is, pretty impressive given that it's supposedly made largely by a single guy?

That being said the community surrounding it is nuts.

Pick pretty much any character in the game and there's seething hatred for them over inane stuff like this:

Which is hilarious given how most characters are pretty inoffensive...

Someone should make a Rimworld inspired game in this genre.

Relax harvesting your quaint farm... of human skin.
Rimworld already has farming, animal husbandry, cooking, crafting, mining, combat, etc.

What is it that you want added? More social simulation?

That's why I never got that deep into Stardew Valley. Outside of the pre-written cartoon character dialogues and little festivals, which I don't care about -- or am mildly annoyed by -- there's nothing that it offers that I can't get from Rimworld, modded Sims, Minecraft, Project Zomboid, Kenshi, Terraria, etc.
