Yeah the orange gear was among the things I liked the most in the game, it was awful replacing my mandalorian look that lasted from 40 to 50 with the ugly scrapmetal armor that bounty hunters have for pvp gear.

I think I've seen that. That has a helmet with something that looks like two eyestalks sticking out, right?

Yeah, that's the one I used. The other 3 Bounty Hunter pvp sets use a different style of helmet, but it's just as ugly.

My favorite part was putting "wrong" orange class gear. Trooper with Jedi Knight armor. Imperial Agent with Marauder armor.

I think that's the only thing that kept me going.

My favorite part was making my bounty hunter wear as skimpy clothes as I possibly could

Orange-class gear was the one thing SWTOR did right and that other MMOs ought to copy.

I like how they included the non-existant C&C, staying true to form.

"I need you to do this for me."
"That sounds like a waste of time."
"Here's the details."

A huge number of MMOs have either a full set of inventory slots for cosmetic-only equipment, a way to apply another item's look to an existing item via crafting, or a crafting system with a customizable look for items. Or some combination of those. In fact it would be rather disappointing to see a MMO released nowadays that doesn't have any appearance customization options like that.

Still chugging along. Level 30 and on Alderaaan now. Wish I could just choke the fuck out of that duke in the sith warrior story since I'd get better results choking random people until information falls out than following his shit, but oh well. Also took a picture of the annoying bullshit vanishing textures thing I get all the time, only during dialog. USUALLY it's just black eyes, but this area really freaked out. Probably has something to do with a combination of A: shitty game, and B: video card only having 512 megs of memory. Also kinda pissed that all the dungeons past the first one have had 0 dialog and only one "DO YOU LIGHTSIDE OR DARKSIDE" moment each. A real damn shame since that first dungeon was a kick. I suppose if you replay them often enough you wouldn't give a shit about the dialog anyway, but the multiplayer dialog is probably the best thing TOR has going for it and I wish they hammered on that more for the dungeons.

Yeah, Black Talon/Esseles were the most interesting flashpoints. But you do tend to autoskip the conversations the 5th time through.

Also, fuck sith warrior BRO. You nee to roll an Operative and emotionally engage with paranod watchers, have dubious cybernetics installed in your body and get mindraped by the republic while chasing space illuminati. I played both sith warrior and imp agent, and beleive me when I say it's a quantum leap in writing quality. Also, if you roll an operative, you can stealth past a lot of the trash mobs and finish missions faster.

If you run on Vista/7 you need to run in compatibility with XP SP3.

:what: If that's the fix and isn't something Bioware has fixed, Jesus. Unfortunately I can't do it since I'm doing the "VB script to get it to run through Steam" thing, and Steam overlay is more useful to me than fixing fucked up textures in talkies.

Funny, that list of complaints under cancellation looked very similar to drawbacks present in WoW... eight years ago. You'd think they would have learned from another company's mistakes.

Pretty much the only problem I see that WoW had was PVP. WoW didn't really have anything resembling a PVP system until something like 1.4, which was six months or so after release. Even then PVP was pretty much a joke until TBC.

But seriously, you can't search for items by name? How do you fuck up an auction house, especially when there are so many examples of how to do one right? The fuck.

I'd say Colicoid Wargames was quite decent. Reminded me a little of DDO in spirit, and it was pleasant that the first part did not respect level and equipment. This excessive reliance on level in almost everything plagues EQ-like MMOs. For example, it is almost pointless to accumulate rare equipment, because the common equipment one attains in a few levels will be vastly better.

It's like they got one retard to make the assets, then got another retard who was in an even worse shape to put it all together. Then they all had cookies and milk together with each other [BioWare team], and said awesome alot. Someone blurted out TOOORRR, but she was ignored and they all went back to awesome.

That style's all the rage here in NZ.. the rest of the world we catch on eventually.

In TOR news, I'm about to start playing - any tips for first roll? I've heard Smuggler is a good way to kick things off.. It should be noted, I'm an MMO total and complete newbballs, this is the first time I've tacked an 'MMO' to the front of my 'RPG'.

Just play a bit with each one and see if you enjoy the playstyle/story. Also, read on the advanced classes.

How are the servers these days? Are they empty? Are they merging servers yet?

You can check server load information here: http://www.torstatus.net/
Yeah but I don't know if this is accurate or even what a 2.54 server population means. I'm just wondering what players are seeing with the servers since it's been 3 months. I figured they would be losing a significant amount of members around this time or soon. I can see that light population is trending upwards. I can't see any info on whether they are merging low population servers yet.
