Hmm, Q1's rocket launcher holds it's own. A simple, fast, deadly rocket.

No doubt, it didn't become so popular for nothing. But for me, the versatility of the Rocket Launcher from the UT series goes beyond its slow firing rate.

I forgot about all the great UT weapons and their alternative fire modes. Anyone here purchase UT3? Does it's bot matches still capture the feel of the original UT..or is it awash in console stench?

Botmatches are pretty much as good as ever, specially after they fixed some AI glitches in the last 2 patches. The core gameplay is closer to the original UT than to UT2003/2004. You know, that heavy, brutal, spammy feel from UT, it's there. If you ask me, the core gameplay is as good as ever. But sadly, the game is littered with problems: idiotic server browser, laggy online experience, overly busy visuals, some balancing issues for the Necris vehicle selection etc. I keep it installed for a botmatch every now and then though.

Undying's Scythe may not be a gun, but all guns became obsolete the moment you found it. Coupled with the spell protecting you from frontal attacks it became pure fun and awesome, the only weapon you really needed in that game.

If that one doesn't count, being a melee weapon and all, then i vote for Undying's burning skulls spell. Made of cool, win, and amazing.

And then you have Doom 3's evil cube. Yeah, i know: Most people around here hate the cube. I, on the other side, did find it to be cool, but then i have a soft spot for "Supernatural" weapons on FPS. Bullets? Plasma? Laser? Who the fuck cares for those when you have an evil soul-devouring cube to play with? And the thing dismembers a freakin' huge Cyberdemon. How much cooler can you get?

Blood 2's voodoo doll deserves an honorable mention. I never managed to use it well but the idea was both original and... well... i already mentioned the soft spot for weird supernatural weapons, so there you go.

Yeah, well. Guns are boring. Occult artifacts with a sadistic streak are way better.

Cerebral bore from Turok 2. Arguably also not a gun, but nevertheless extremely cool.

BUSTER SWORD!1111

Little yellow people with small penises aside, Super Shotgun from Doom 2 and Flak Cannon from UT.

When I read the thread title, I immediately thought of BFG9000, so that wins.

Besides stuff already mentioned:

Rail Gun from Q2/Q3 - killing someone by shooting the left most pixel from someone's leg while they are hiding behind a wall

Also, not guns, but some "epic" weapons from BG come to mind:

Crom Feyr
Lilarcor
Holy Avenger

BTW, does that sword sold at the Mulsantir bazzar in MoTB talk? Y'know, the one with the description. Silvem or something. Never bothered to find out.

The Desert Eagle. Almost useless in real life, but the ultimate pistol in loads of games.

...and their JPG poll sucks a nigger cock.

Proper swords poll is mandatory to include Garda Revanche from Betrayal at Krondor. And Glass sword from Ultimas (the one you could kill British with). And Cane of Corpus of course (not a sword, but packs more punch than all of them combined).

BFG9000, duh. The only gun whose area damage depends on where the character is standing. It's a really nasty surprise to shoot it down one hallway, go into a parallel one, and toast the guy in it for staring into your atomic eyes.

The shrinkray from DN3d. Best deathmatch gun ever.

The Cleric's last weapon in Hexen that fired Raiders of the Lost Arc style ghosts that flew about and killed things. If there's any weapon that needs a upgrade with modern rendering technology, this is it. Imagine those melting faces.

I really missed the sword from Fable on the list. Without spoiling too much and paraphrasing Ron Burgundy: It's kinda of a big deal.

Inspired by this list however, I started wondering.. what are the 10 most legendary guns in gaming?

Post your suggestions and the reason why.

The annoying thing is, not one RPG was mentioned on that list.

I think it's Sivlem. I've used it during my first playthrough of MotB and no, it doesn't speak. Awesome weapon though.
