I think there was a bug with my Ascension mod because the Illasera battle seemed almost impossible?
No, you just suck :M.

really, that's it.
Illasera use dispel magic arrow, invisibility and few other trick, a solution is to throw at he someone with the reflect projectile shield or cleric spell, and then pummel her to death with imp haste
Those are good ideas. But I still think my mod had bugs, remember sometimes mods can unbalance games and even make them unplayable :M

I completed BG2 SoA and my battles with Irenicus were very memorable, the first battle with him at the Tree of Life was very tough and I died at least 5-6 times before I adopted a winning combat strategy that included

  • Spells like Breach and Piece Magic to weaken his magic defenses
  • Spells like Chaotic Commands and Death Ward to protect my party
  • I used summoning spells like Mordenkainen's Sword to distract him
  • I ran away when he used AOE spells like Ice Storm
  • My fighters used potions like Fire Giant strength to enhance their combat effectiveness
And then in Hell I initially ran away so I could focus on his summoned monsters and then I changed into the Slayer to kill him, I very seldom use the Slayer and this was only the second time in the whole SoA I used that special ability

I am now playing ToB, my favorite RPG of all time, and Im in the Marching Mountains. I had some real issues initially with the first Bhaalspawn battle with Illasera, I was killed at least 5 times. I then reran the Ascension mod and removed all '' make Bhaalspawn fights harder " that include Illasera and Gromnir and the fight became reasonable and fun

I think there was a bug with my Ascension mod because the Illasera battle seemed almost impossible?
Crazy to me how you made it through SoA using SCS to learn on Irenicus how to deal with mages. No offense intended. What were you doing before? Relying on Carsomyr?

Illasera is made MUCH better by SCS/Ascension. Rather than being a solo lightweight casting L5 spells, she's now a tricky sniper wreaking havoc on your party's defenses with appropriate support. It's actually a proper Bhaalspawn fight, rather than a glorified trashmob. If you haven't used it yet, having a Thief with 100% Detect Illusion is extremely valuable. When battling The Five at the final boss fight of ToB, Illasera is easily my #1 target to eliminate ASAP. The only competition for priority elimination is the Fallen Solar shooting Arrows of Slaying.

I never installed SCS, I only installed Ascension

Sadly I dont have any Paladins so I cant use Carsomyr. So you dont think I experienced an Ascension bug with Illasera?

Use Any Item is one of the best HLAs in the game.
Don't worry about Thac0. As a Thief, you can also use scrolls or other items to improve your Thac0. You can also use the Set Time Trap HLA. While time is stopped, you are going to hit your enemies regardless of Thac0(automatic hits).

My adventures in ToB are progressing nicely, after killing Yaga-Shura I decided to complete Watchers Keep

ToB really is my best RPG of all time for several reasons that include

  • I love all games that use the D&D, or similar, rulesets and FR is my favorite setting
  • The high level battles are varied and exciting, it reminds me of D:OS2
  • The overall ToB narrative is excellent where you face different Bhaalspawn and where you have to consider your own dark destiny.
  • Side quests are worthwhile and interesting
  • The party interaction and Romance arcs are very entertaining
Watchers Keep is probably my favorite side quest of all time, I loved the different levels and how you had to navigate them. At the end when I faced Demogorgon I realized I had been lied to by Odren so I returned to him and confronted him. He went into the Keep by himself and I sealed Watchers using the Ritual Scroll from the ghost. I decided its better not to try to kill Demogorgon because how that might unbalance the Abyss and trapping him within the Keep seemed more poetic and painful. And the one battle to unlock the seals with the Demons and the Hive Mother was the hardest battle I have ever had but I used summons strategically, spells to remove magic, delayed AOE spells like Skull Trap and HLA like Hardiness and I won on the 5th time

Im am now on my way to the Oasis, grand events await me

BruceVC I enjoy ToB for all of its pulpy, epic, high octane goodness as well. One of my favorite things to do in ToB (especially with Ascension & SCS) is to go to Yaga Sura's siege camp and fight his army for as long as I can. I like to do the same thing to Balthazar's army too. PnP Fiends makes demon summons wonderful, and I like to raise a fiendish army of my own and watch the battles.

Edgy I had an interesting potential Romance arc and I immediately thought of you

I was resting in the Pocket Plane at Amkethran and the beautiful and salacious Sendai came to me in my dreams and wanted to ravage me....what do you think I said? Did I say " YES " or did I resist her seductive and alluring offer?

Is EE preferable or not these days for bg2? If you wanna use mods like SCS, does it matter for that, or for UI.
