DaS2 has 12 max in NG at least.

I found it harder to watch my health in DaS1 during longer areas. In DaS2 I pretty much don't care since I have a bajillion whatever charms/gems to heal between encounters if the flasks run out.

So... what's the answer to my question, how much less useful is that in practice than like a dex 40 +15 A scaler? Is there a lot of shit with hidden resists that makes elemental weapons shit in most cases, etc

Also is there much stuff that cares about whether you are doing slash/impact/thrust damage? I basically ignored it until I my level 1 char with a +0 reinforced club did like 2x more damage to the statue men in darkroot woods than my first character.
and the slimes in the depths seem to take shitty damage from everything but unsure on that count
Magic works wonders on those slimy bastards.

And Fire works best.

I'm late on this but it's the Ghost Blade(not jagged) that's very rare and only drops from 2 enemies in total(the banshees that shoot lightning from their babies)

Extra weapons like that weren't required to finish the game nor are they required to enjoy the multiplayer. So i don't understand why you guys care about those type of rare drops.

DSII lacks the soul of the original imo, just can't get used to it. So I went back to this one.

Trying to advance in sunbro rank is really hard when no one wants to summon you :( And I dun want to have to wait to post lordvessel to get mah greater lightning spear.

I'm currently playing a cleric type faithy built. Originally it was going to be a pinwheel before taurus challenge run, but that was too hard so it wound up being pinwheel before goyles, and the goal is to do 4 kings before going to anor londo as well. Astora straightsword is a pretty good weapon at least so far, but I'll swap it out for crescent axe once I get the stats(rip patches).

Huh? Where are they? I don't remember any shooting lightning at me.

It's the ones that scream. One blocks the door just before the ladder up to Ingward. The other guards an item somewhere in the ruins.

I should do a run doing as many player summons as possible just to see how people act (should also go really fast since it should theoretically be pretty easy modo)

Just did Four Kings on a SL1 game after way too many tries. One thing that helps a lot is that you can do a ton of free damage to the total boss health bar by smacking an individual king a bunch of extra times during his dying animation.

Also wear light encumberance so you can easily get away from the long range grab attack that 1-shots an SL1

Also... when you take the elevator down to New Londo, send it back up after you reach the bottom as you step off so it will already be at the top after you die again :|

Hum, the Four Kings was actually one of the easiest bosses for me on SL1 run. Got them on the second try. I also just tanked the damage with Havel's armor like a man.

Four Kings are actually fun on SL1, because the damage requirement is actually significant, and you can't just tank everything (well, maybe you can if you wear Havel's, but that's boring as hell).

Also, Gozma, from my experience, you'll have most trouble with Manus and Kalameet.

Not to excuse my DS weakness but I hadn't ever fought the boss with any character before; I stopped playing my first save at the "got the Lordvessel, do Four Kings to see Kaathe if you want" point to do a SL1 run (orange messages all around Frampt calling him a liar made me look up the storyline on the internet...)

The pain in SL1 doesn't even really kick in until after the point I'm at now I think; doing O&S again at SL1 was nothing special, mostly because all the points you could have put into levels can get you some strong pyromancy. But now there is pretty much no more easy power uppa and nothing to spend souls on anymore besides super-marginal shit like getting more armor to the point you need chunks to upgrade it.

Be sure to get a Balder Shield to +14, gives it very respectable stability, which allows you to just block a lot of stuff to death, even with your shitty SL1 stamina.

And yeah, a heavily upgraded Pyro flame makes O&S a cakewalk, you can kill smough with like four great combustions.

Yea, pyromancy makes the SL1 very doable. In fact, my SL1 run went way smoother than my leveled melee/magic character I used on my second playthrough. Part of it was certainly experience, but a handful of bosses are way easier to handle with pyromancy.

What is the condition to get Artorias to stagger out of his power up animation? I tried using throwing daggers to do it but two daggers only works the first time he tries the power up and there isn't enough time for a third dagger when he tries it again. Thought I'd ask the Codex before I set out to make a Lightning Crossbow or something. Maybe black firebombs would do it?

I honestly don't know. And I am giving you good advice, it'll be faster to kill him with the powerup than to acquire a lightning crossbow or whatever other silly contraption. Have you tried just charging him and mashing attack?

My lightning club is too slow to run him down and get a hit once I recognize he's doing the animation. Or do you mean just to fight him in general? I have been doing the fight with combustion + greater combustion because he dodges the club incessantly.

It's definitely poise based. If you anticipate when he's gonna go power up (he only does it at certain health intervals) you should be able to make it and knock him out of it with a club (you are two handing it right? Makes a big difference.) Though if it's too much trouble you might want to just run away like a bitch till it wears off. He's much easier to dodge if you aren't trying to get hits in.
