I'm pleased with the new stats system, the old one tended to favor a universal kind of build - ultimately it all didn't make that much of a difference... I do wonder about the resistance stat, is it going to be a dump stat again? Armor looks more important now ; maybe they're trying to make the "slow but tough" versus "quick but fragile" choice more viable this time. I feel like this is what they were trying to aim at since Demon's Souls, but ultimately the quick builds are almost always better - you can play a tank in the Souls games but I don't know man, when you're taking agaisnt huge fucking monsters it doesn't make that much of a difference, they're going to break your poise either way. That, or you tank to extremes and you can't walk for shit. I'm not even talking about PvP here, that's another beast

And I can't believe Resistance is still a stat. Get it together FROM.

They have designed a fix here to. If you watch the video, when the player levels up, NONE of his defensive stats increase like they did on any stat gain in DarkSouls 1. This makes the resistance stat actually interesting as it will be the only way to boost your defense aside from armor. There seems to be some potential here. ;P

Edit: Well at least for poison, bleed, and break. Break is something they brought back from Demon's Soul. Having a stat to avoid your gear getting pummeled seems like a viable build in some ways. I can see there being monsters that break gear in a single hit. In Demon's Soul, when you got invaded, some of the most difficult players to deal with were ones that had a mace weapon that broke gear (spacing the name of the specific weapon - and I think there was only 1). You couldn't even block their attacks for long enough to matter. You either kill them fast, or you fight them naked with fists. LOL! Seems legit, but we'll have to wait and see.

A video from the beta in october. It goes in detail about stats and while most is not new the guy also says this about how dodging is influenced:vitality increases equip load wich determines rolling speed while agility determines invincibility frames though he's not sure.

He also says PVP seemed to rely too much on stunlock:the first to get a hit p. much always stunlock the other and can chain attacks winning easily,no matter the weapon.

The video is good but a couple of pvp fights were kind of retarded. The guy did not use the shield, rolling or anything else ... just spamming the attack buttons.

Also agility will reduce the stunlock duration.

Nerfing other stats isn't a buff for resistance, though.

From what I've seen, the damage dealt by enemies per hit seem pretty low. That could be a reason why the uploader feels it's easier than the previous two games, but I really like what I see so far. More enemies rushing and more time to adapt to a sticky situation(by having weaker damaging enemies).

True, but it does make more sense. Now that toughness doesn't come with soul levels, it makes a stat like resistance more viable. Seems like a good design choice, we'll have to wait and see. The above video mentions that resistance also improves physical too. /shrug

That weapon the red phantom is using looks amazing. Also, really interesting bit about the bells, I wonder if they're the Bells of Awakening. The gargoyles in the second screenshot are clearly modeled after the Bell Gargoyles boss....

The Bell Keepers sound like they will be the new Forest Hunters.

Seems too much focus on PVP this go around.

I am disappointed in this new direction.

Also, I sold my PS3, now I have a PS4..how long will I have to wait for the next-gen console pvp faggotry?

The PC version is coming later that month, with no confirmation on a PS4/Xbone version, so just buy that one since the first game required a toaster to run and this one probably won't be much worse on the specs.

Yes go ahead I'm listening

If i have to switch to PC...I'll have to put up with the stat/item hack faggots.

And as far as I know, FromSoft didn't do a damn thing to stop it.

So, back to why am I disappointed about even more jolly online bullshit? I don't mind being invaded unless it's by some asshat hack user who just wasted my time so he could chub up his e-peen.
