And that was an improvement, and it's not like there aren't ways to kite-cheese your way through in Souls 2 either if that's your preferred option.

I noticed that "turtle warriors" have a short range to pursuit you, after that they will backpedal even if you attack them.
Other ds work this way but it is more noticeable with turtles because the range is so short, the boar in ds1 has short pursue range too but it was a little faster at least.

Alright, I have to say that Fume Knight has to be my favourite boss so far. Not saying because of some edgy hipster elitism that usually plagues these kinds of games. Once you learned all the visual ques it was like a beautiful dance with the devil inside a ash covered pit. The only bad move is probably that chaos orb aoe- extremely luck dependent if you get hit or not. Yet again I am running a lightweight dex and endurance focused build with powerstanced weapons. So I am focused on agility/mobility and fast attacks in exchange for squishyness. For now my theory why the fume knight is such a nightmare for most players is because I think most pve builds rely on those anime swords/clubs that have slow movesets on top of relying on greatshields. I can definitely see how someone with a large club and a greatshield might get smashed by the stamina draining combos followed by the players slow attack that leaves him open to the faster follow ups.

The dragon Sinh is also another of my favourites. Most funny one too. For one if you try to use the lock on camera it goes apeshit and shows you the glorious backside while you are stuck in the flying lizards crotch area. All the while trying to figure out whats he planning to do next. Second funny moments are when you are dodging his flame attacks while he is flying and you end up right underneath him. He ends up splattering you with his ass. Funnily enough that was one of the most efficient ways of getting to his ass region which was the best angle to attack him.

Worst so far hands down has to be that Elana bitch. I am not going to count the optional coop bosses cause well, they are coop and not mandatory. Anyway, Elana is a good example of why bosses with alts is a godawful idea. It does not give any good challenge, only the frustrating kind because there is little technique involved: you can study and learn the bosses body language but it matters little if you are using the bosses vulnerable opening only for the summoned alt to suddenly sprint to you and splatter you with his fucking anime-bell-mace. The whole fight boils down to endlessly dodging around the two assholes (who BTW start to work in unison after some time) trying to get a hit in and be lucky enough for the second one not to react to your vulnerable attack animation. Contrast this to the Fume knight that has well telegraphed movesets that one can learn and master giving you ample windows of counterattacking without the chaos of multiple enemies scrambling your technique.

On the internet, writing shit posts.
Actually you can completely trivialize the Orb AoE by using a dark infused rebel's greatshield and by stacking dark and fire resist. The orbs also have a certain movement pattern that makes it possible to walk around of, but you will have to learn the pattern first, and there's still risk of getting hit (and one shotted) by them.

Using a greatshield / heavy build against the fume knight isn't impossible, but it is difficult. You need to be familiar with his attack patterns and be careful about what to block. Blocking the straight sword isn't too bad, but blocking the ultra greatsword is a terrible idea.

Sinh is my favourite dragon fight in the series. Combination of the scenic arena, it being a dragon that actually enjoys his flying, and the badass look of that beast with the giant spear still protruding. Not the most difficult, but boy, is it scenic.

Fume Knight and Sinh also have another thing for them: the bonfire is just in front, making the pattern learning a far more enjoyable experience. For DS3 equivalents, see Nameless King, Friede or Gael. For a notable contrast, the Executioner Chariot is a pain the first time round. So is Sir Weeabo, which is sad since it's a pretty good fight, but learning it involved multiple reruns of that stupid gauntlet.

Agreed on Elana. She's just a mini-Nashandra whose patterns are, at the end of the day, rather irrelevant since you just run around and get a hit on the run here and there.

I wish the guy who was in charge of the DLC-s would have had full control over the entire DS2 dev cycle. As repeated ad nauseam the base game feels more like a map pack stitched together with corridors quickly slapped together in the map editor. Most glaring example aside from the jarring poison windmill-Bowser lava castle transition are the primordial bonfire rooms at the end of each path. For something called a primordial something it sure does look godawful and sterile: a obnoxiously big and empty room with repeating textures with a small generic bonfire in middle. To put it in perspective when you mention something is primordial in the context of dark souls high fantasy I imagine something like the Old Chaos is in the Ivory King DLC.

Quite clearly the Old Chaos is a continuation of the Bed of Chaos from DS 1. It looks as one would expect: a primordial demi-god fire mage tried to replicate a ancient flame. The ritual went bad and the fire mage mutated into the Bed of Chaos, birthing fire based demons and pulling her entire city in lava pits. Now in the centuries following DS 1 her lord soul got extracted but the fire mage continued to degenerate into her base desires. When you finally enter the area what used to be the Bed of Chaos you discover that it has turned into a gigantic lava whirlpool with some tree branches left a the ceiling. Left overs from the Bed of Chaos. Now that is how something called primordial should look and feel.

Now they do try to make some connection with the original DS 1 four lords but they seem forced to say at least. For example the Lost Sinner is supposed to be the one who has the same lord soul that the fire mage possessed. I think they were trying to imply that the lord souls have had many possessors throughout the cycles and that each incarnation carries over some traits from its previous owner. For example the Rotten in the poison pit has similarities with Nito which soul it possesses. But the Lost Sinner has what connection? The Bug that crawls into its eye socket? Other then that the sinner seems to be a complete opposite of the fire mage: locked in a dark room and giant wielding a two handed sword. Other examples: the Old Iron King is supposed to possess Gwyns soul. What are the similarities? If anything I would expect the sinner to be connected to Gwyn and the lava devil connected to the fire mage. With her being the mother of the demons and all that.

It all feels so...disjointed and forced to say the least...

The fact Lost Sinner uses the sword despite being handcuffed reminds me Sif that uses sword with his mouth. Lost Sinner fight is a lot better: less hpsponge and more various moveset.

GeDoSaTo is mandatory to experience the lost sinner fight as it was actually designed, and make the optional task of lighting up the torches relevant (if not necessary).

Why, GeDoSaTo is mandatory to play DS2 to begin with, actually.

I remember the glory days of DS2, the PVP, the shenanigans, the bugs.

DS 3 was such a disappointment for me. Oh well, all good things must end.

Return to Drangleic 2019 starting saturday week, although for the impatient a fair few people tend to not wait and start a bit earlier in the week. Great time to play Best Souls if you're into multiplayer as the summons come hard and fast, there are tons of people to invade, and silly builds all over the place. Last time I did a bit of the early game with cosplayers Dunkstein and Slamough, some NG+ while badly underleveled with a couple of serious player, then escorted the same player bonfire after bonfire from Drangleic castle to Vendrick with the same other two summons, pointing and prism-stoning the way.

Happy Bearseekseeklesting everyone.

The dude managed to finish all 5 games (BB, D2, D1, DS and D3) without getting hit in a row.

His skills are not top notch but his ambition is impressive. Kudos to him.

Also it looks like nobody was able to finish DS2 All Bosses - no hit run :)

Edit: otzdarva reached the last boss 2 or 3 times and he died.

*No hit run
*runs past every enemy till the boss fight

Why non of them go through every enemy and clear the area?

Beceause it's not his first challenge, and just this one took him motnhs to finish, which means he finished all souls 100+ times. He's just safe speedruning it at this point.
