All hail the Warrior, King of PvE, and the Mesmer, Queen of PvP. They rule as one over WvW, long may they live.

State of Dungeon PVE class (according to 'pro players'):

In the name of the Father Warrior
The Son of Mesmer
And the Holy Guardian
Amen

Is this accurate? I've not logged on for a while since I gifted my account to a friend.
I have no idea, haven't done pve ever since I got my gear. Though I don't see what's so special about us mesmers other than 10 second haste and helping retards that fail at plataforming with portal.

Warriors too, shoutmonkeys are highly overrated. Everything they do support-wise a guardian or an ele does better. I don't know why this support warr thing is so popular when they are one of the best classes in terms of raw DPS, should focus on that instead of pretending they are guardians with the Tactics line.

Guardians of course are godlike in any sort of content.

That prayer must be based on some high-level fractal gimmicks, which I haven't bothered much with. This FotM thing by the way, is a pain in the ass. Unless you have a buddy group to run it regularly you're p. much fucked to find a group at this point since everyone is on different levels.

Something major appears underway at the Seattle-based offices of Guild Wars 2 publisher NCsoft. After a tip from an anonymous source, PC Gamer contacted Public Relations Director Lincoln Davis who denied that the Seattle studio had closed, but confirmed today that a “realignment” was taking place.

You know what raw, quit fucking trolling, dodging the points and not answering with any actual constructive thoughts. Give genuine content, not just whining about LULZ GW2 SUCKS AND SO DO YOU. You are making a very effective ass out yourself. At least Kline has been attempting to do these things.

Eh, GW2 is shit. There is no wall of text to be done here. You know, if GW2 was that-game-that-is-on-the-verge-of-being-brilliant-but-falls-short-so-damn-closely it might worth the effort and time and I might be more inclined to pick apart what, where and why A.net went wrong. But a game that was ment to be generic and a WoW clone from the outset is neither worth my time nor yours for that matter. Saying that GW2 somehow ~reinvented the wheel~ and should be applauded for reaching hitherto unprecedented levels of genericness is hyperbole and dumbfuckery, is all.

OK, let's see, step one, blanket denial of any point an opponent had, step two, broad blanket statement based purely on your perception of matters at hand, step three, blanket attempts to obfuscate points opponents made by repeating exactly what you've said previously, step 4, we just found a strawman style argument. What's odd is I don't even think you were attempting it.

As for it being intended to be a WoW clone and generic. They've A: Never said that, and B: had you actually played the game you'd probably realize that the game is more of a clone of every MMO on the market at current, again picking and pulling features from what's popular, than just a simple WoW clone. WoW itself is an EQ clone, and EQ basically originated the genre. Do we still call things EQ clones? No, because WoW grew to fill the niche of widest known common western formula MMORPG. In Guild Wars you see the inclusions of features that were made in different MMO's all combined into a single one. You have the RvR of Warhammer and Dark Age of Camelot. You have scalable dynamic events from RIFT. You have a story that is similar to LotRO and GW1 though certainly more interactive. You have a refined combat system that is similar albeit different enough that I would call it similar not a clone, unlike Vaarna, to the ones seen in Champions, I will admit, however without the slowing factor charging abilities, and including a proper dodging system that works. You have an interesting ability to level your character by crafting, similar to Fallen Earth, though without the focus on it. You have sPvP and an attempt at forging an eSport similar to GW1. All of these confluences of features come together not to form a shitpile of discarded features from other games, but to form a decent pile of marble waiting to be further refined into a proper countertop to place a blender ontop of.

impressive defense so far.
all i gotta say is, the reason why i abandoned the game is that the newly released content is just very unpolished - and felt like a rush job with multitudes of issues and bugs.
i mean, it says a lot when a part of a NEW dungeon is broken and they don't even bother putting a hotfix 2-3 weeks into it. Nor do they make any attempt to stop ppl from entering that instance.'

instead, they promise more content on xmas etc...PROMISING MORE NEW,FUN, (broken) stuff.

I've very little faith, seeing the list of class bugs continue to go on and on - Engineer, Elementals, etc.
And the latest fractal disconnect = you're fucked is one of those elephant in the room that remains to be shot down.
The latest patch broke another part of the fractal according to my still playing friends, yet despite some calls for the players to 'stop that particular fractal to feature in the rotation' the devs just buried their head in the sand and said 'there's a workaround - suicide if that particular bug occurs to reset the encounter while we work on a complete fix'

wtf is this? This is fucking amateur hour, that's what.

They do break a lot of shit everytime they fix something else. This time they further broke mesmer phantasms. I think it was our turn to get fucked by their awesome QA.

One day my Phantasmal Berserker, which used to crit for 5~6k suddenly started to hit for only half that, and now it started to completely miss most of its spins (just tested on light armor golem now, it hit the damn thing for 800 damage, lol). They also added a 1~2 seconds delay to all phantasms. That's following the patch that made the phantasm summoning affected by line of sight, blind, evade, etc. So basically you have your own cast time, that can be blocked, dodged, etc, then the phantasm delay, then the phantasm attack that can be blocked, dodged, etc.

Yeah, it's a bug with some transformation skills, they are resetting your traits. The HP your friend lost is from the 300 vitality of his trait line.

Not to defend a lot of the dumb shit Anet has been doing(this last patch was a huge fuckup in all honesty. Ascended gear is bullshit.), but consistently buggy/broken base content with buggy new content being heaped on is the name of the game when it comes to new MMOs. Publishers/Developers get nervous at the declining numbers and throw shit at the problem and hope it gets fixed.

I'm pretty much playing sPvP exclusively at this point. When you get a good team together and get in a equal fight its the most fun I've had in an MMO in a long time. Intense scrambling and communication while trying to monitor/respond to enemy movement in the various maps. Once the matchmaking system comes out in Jan with custom servers along with balance tweaks, GW2 sPvP is going to be some good shit.

Well, that's nice to hear Condiments, but $59.99 for a sPvP game is a little bit overpriced IMO.
I'm not saying I got a bad deal from the 3 months play, but man - the speed of decline is a bit much to take.
I do miss my Guardian a bit, but meh - it's time to wait for Steam Xmas Sale.

Yeah I'd give it a rest if its pissing you off and check back in a few weeks/month if you're still interested. They said they'll give the dungeons a balance look-over with big content patches in Jan/Feb/March, but we'll see how that goes of course. The PvP in this game is good enough for me to keep playing for a while.

The keys are for about 40 $ on polish auction site called Allegro, but it looks like they are only meant for EU region.

When is this shit going on sale? It's fucking $60 at Amazon.
I doubt it's going to see noticeable discounts any time soon considering actual game sales are their main source of income, aside from microtransactions. Not to mention it's not on Steam so other big names like Amazon don't feel the need to price match Gaben's heavenly sale prices.

This is not how amazon works. Look, for example, at Diablo 3 on amazon. It's sold for much less than what Blizzard asks for online. You'd have to be seriously retarded to buy Blizzard games online. It's 32 euros on amazon now, compared to the full, release day price on Blizzard's online store, and it's not on steam either and Blizzard never does sales. Almost every single game I looked up (not necessarily bought, just curiosity to compare different markets) were cheaper on amazon than online.
Steam sales temporarily make games extremely cheap, but if you don't shop during that period, steam is actually much more expensive than the real fucking box being shipped to you.

I don't remember by how much, but the day it was released, Skyrim was cheaper on amazon.fr than steam (yes, I did buy skyrim.. haha). This is something I consider madness. Getting something shipped to you, being cheaper than just a few bits exchanged on the internet, really ?

Amazon is *always* cheaper than Steam for a gamer who buys his games on release day rather than during a sale a year later.

If Guild Wars 2's price doesn't drop, it's certainly not because of amazon. Amazon is awesome sauce. In comparison, steam sucks, seriously, they can afford to drop the prices during special sales if they milked the average idiot who bought games on steam outside of that window.

I get what you mean, I was more referencing the fact that Amazon was actively price matching Steam with this Thanksgiving sale whenever they could. One assumes they would continue the practice.

2nd hand accounts are your best bet. Cheapest offer I got was 20 bucks but that's still too much. Waiting until I can grab it for 5€ or less.

While that's understandable at the same time they'll reach a point where the people willing to pay $50-$60 for this have already done so. I have to imagine sales are starting to stagnate at this point.

Sales will increase again with the first expansion. Assuming the expansion is $20-30, I expect GW2 itself to not dip below $30.
