Something for people who like to screw around with builds.
I've already discovered the best build.

That's only half a build, bro. What's the other weapon set that you have equipped?

You make it sound like I'll need to switch with my overpowered build of invincibility.

Good thing they're not using these players' ideas then - http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/arm ... t7839.html

"Magic yet realistic", describing anime faggotry costumes.

Despite GW2 probably/hopefully shaping up to be an awesome MMO, I think I finally found a community more annoying and obnoxious than EVE's and more high-brow narcissist than LotRO's while it's still all sprinkled with the idiocy of an average WoW player.

There seem to be plenty of people in that thread advocating for more realistic / utilitarian armor.

Then there was this:

Those skills look terrible, seems like they're trying to shoehorn every profession into vaguely the same role. Doesn't help that every skill that appears to have interesting tactical applications is paired with a fucking huge cooldown.

Isn't it the whole point? You know getting rid off stupid DIKU gameplay concepts and waiting for hours for a healer? Professions are supposed to differ in gameplay, not functionality, for instance if you happen to need aoe damage in your team every class can provide it, at most you will need few tweaks to your build, you won't have to hope mage/whateverclass will show up to help you and whole concept of healer (and tank too by extension) is thrown out of the window, healing won't be nearly as powerful and everyone will be able to heal themselves, what it means is that no one will babysit you and when you get hurt you have to back off for a breather. Gameplay will revolve more about active defense, like setting up some sort of shield or whatever or simply dodging the bullet instead of reactive healing spam. Though I understand some people won't like it because it implies more twitch based gameplay but I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you aren't planning on playing thief, warrior and guardian I think are supposed to be less actiony, though we won't know until we get our hands on final product I guess :? .

As for skills in that builder, I don't think there is even a fraction of what will be in final game, AFAIK it's unofficial and based on what was shown in demos so far, btw it's pointless anyway, no real stats included = fail builder. How am I supposed to build anything if all I know about these skills is rough description?

Pax panel with developers. I don't think it was linked here yet.

Heroes. Even henchmen were more than sufficient most of the time.

I mostly care about PvP because it was the best thing in GW1 and the best tactical combat ever. This was largely because different professions can have completely different roles and playstyles.

Gameplay will revolve more about active defense, like setting up some sort of shield or whatever or simply dodging the bullet instead of reactive healing spam.
I take it that you're not too familiar with Guild Wars. Active defense is the shit, a timely prot is far more efficient than the equivalent amount of healing and your teammates disrupting their offense even better. Even in higher level PvE heal spam is useless since you get killed in 2-3 hits.

The implementation of 'healers' in GW1 is pretty much the best ever because it rewarded situational awareness and the skillful use of active defense (prots) over the reactive healing that is the best or only option in just about every party based RPG.

I too was a big fan of GW1 pvp but I have this feeling you better won't expect anything as good.
AN didn't really try to hide that pve is where it's mostly at.

Well, that's my concern and my biggest hope right now, the fact that they're avoiding to talk about the PvP so much could mean that they're truly trying to develop it at its fullest before giving any word about it.

Or they're not talking about it because there isn't anything good to say.

Pretty much, looks like I missed something that potentially could have been mildly interesting. For all I knew GW was yet another mmo with two twists like lack of stupid monthly subscription and instanced locations. Eh let's hope GW2 will be entertaining enough.

Could also be, that's why I'm slightly worried, I must agree that most of the changes seem to be focused to deliver a more dynamic PvE which could damage the PvP balance. Then again I loved the Alliance Battles so I shouldn't be too worried about that.

:smug:
GW1 also had a quest in which you play as of one the Commandos with skills like Frag Grenade yesterday.
I wonder if it's still up.

Yeah it was a fun quest with very over powered skills and terminator references.
It will be up until sunday I hear.

Might be pointless since Annie doesn't seem to have time but I'll ask anyway:
Will GW2 finally have an auction house?

I'm fiddling with my hero party and came accross the recent changes to Dervishes. I like them and integrated Khamu into my party. But now I'm looking for furious, penetrating, vampiric, of fortitude or of defense modifiers for his scythe. And I'm really not in the mood to spend hours spamming trade channels, realizing that I don't have the gold to pay for the stuff when I finally get an offer and when I finally do have an offer I can pay for being scammed...
