Why do you care, bro? People in this thread surely don't.
Because caring is good for your soul, bro.
Also this is nice setup for drama "I thought it was AWESUM game" a month later. Look at D3 topics. As it was not clear it was totally crap from the start.

You missed decent game. Despite it having same name tag, its as different from sequal as D3 from D2, for example.
About complaining and grinding, not sure how you got this conclusion. Its mostly about anticipating fun to had when another game of the month go flop. If you think a bit, if you want to label me as complaining, it would not games, but streamlined dumbed-down audience. To which they cater since they need huge sales to profit.
Industry will bake out games like this each month at least, there is no point to complain about particular game. It is one of many - and it just caters to existing TA.

For someone so butthurt about the game you sure seem to be obsessed, Whisper.

The worst part is that you focus on things that are utterly irrelevant. The stories suck? No shit, it's a MMO. If anyone was expecting any different, they're either naive or clueless. Second, who gives a shit if WoW drones move on? That's actually good for the community. Not to mention that those types of players are usually so hyped after gobbling up all the bullshit PR campaigns and media write-ups that there's no way in hell that any game would ever satisfy them.

As for your other points, you seem to be implying that unless a game has a massive audience that doesn't drop over time then it's a flop, but then you go on to complain about streamlined dumbed-down content(TM). If there's a game that will ever achieve such an user base, it will probably be the most streamlined game ever envisioned.

Anyway you're just grasping at straws and attempting to construe things that have been known and expected about the game for quite some time, if you had bothered to do any research on it, as these massive implementation failures. Your wankery about the time it takes to reach the level cap is pretty amusing, even, considering how any developer can mimic the exponential xp growth common in Korean MMOs. It doesn't relate 1:1 to content at all.

If someone feels an irresistible urge to talk to each other (handy since party members don't appear to show up on the minimap atm), I'll take this oppertunity to remind people that there's a mostly empty ventrilo server available to codexians and whoever they drag along. Guest password is still newfag.
http://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/rpgcodex-ventrilo-server.71676/

What does the guild provide for the player? What are the benefits in terms of mechanics of joining the guild? I'll message you in game Ulminati in the evening when I get home.

The guild gets influence from players logging ing, doing pvp/pve etc. We can then spend it as a whole on a bunch of cosmetic upgrades anf minor buffs and boosts for everyone. It can be things such as a temporary boost to finding magic items, shared guild storeage we can fill up with junk, fancy guild emblems, XP boost in WvW etc. But mostly it allows you to represent the Kodex Kool Krew, which is of course great in itself. ;)

Guys, I think I figured out the key to a good RPG. We all know that RPGs that scale to your level are a big no-no. However, after the momentous release of GW2, I can safely say that RPGs that scale you to the game's level are revolutionary and amazing.

You can whisper Ulminati.6219 for a KKK invite on Seaferer's rest. I'll be running around with my retribution paladin guardian Nessa Vess for a couple of hours yet.

If it makes content remain challenging in an MMO rather than make the game piss-easy in single-player, yes.

But what's the point of crafting if everyone gets the same items anyway, since GW2 isn't about level caps or itemization? Is crafting the only way to get pretty spikes on your shoulder pads or something?

EDIT: also, Ulminati, is Guardian fun? I always have a soft spot for Paladins.

Ive been wondering what the point of the whole pve thing is in the first place seeing that the gist of the game seems to be in pvp.
I would understand if pve was where you got items and levels for pvp but... :-/

Ive been hoping i just misunderstand something.

I've been having decent fun with my paladin. 2 handed sword, sigils to give passive boosts, spin2win.
they seem to have some pretty decent things going with mace+shield too. 2h sword is definately quite simple. Also, I barely ever activate the virtues. the passive boosts seem better than the active when you consider the boost goes on cooldown after you use it. Except the burning one. I spam that during events to get as many buffs out on people as possible.

Well there's itemization for PvE, though gear distinctions aren't as heavy as in say WoW. Crafting is there because some people like to craft, and it's a pretty good way to level, too, I think I got around 1,5 levels' worth of XP so far levelling LW. It also doesn't take time, since the more shit you have to process, the faster the progress bar will move. It makes for some nice stuff like gems and various other item augments, as well as bags and of course gear. Crafting me some 8-slotters made life a lot easier right away.

Guardians are great. I'm playing my Thief right now, since that was my alt in the alt pair with my GF, who coincidentally is running a Guardian and is completely awed by it. I keep trying to suppress jellyness as I want to be playing a pally too, but I guess I'll wait til she feels like Elementalist at last. Generally, good skills, good survivability, great support, AND some ranged capability via scepter/staff. 2H sword is fun, 2H hammer is pretty good, 1handers are also pretty damn enjoyable. Good class.

Fucking retards. Never lock your user base out of content. Sure way to fail. Lolololol.

F2P only works when it allows you to a) skip the grind or b) is cosmetic in nature. Locking you out of content, content you're seeing right in front of you? Content you discovered? OMG lol.

Locked out of what? You can get keys in game without spending money.

The rewards aren't that exciting anyway - just consumables: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Lion_Chest&cd=1&hl=zh-CN&ct=clnk&source=goog.le

First 80 in this game. Took around 32 hours.

Anyone remembers how long it took for first person to reach max level in previous game of the month, Diablo 3?

edit: Found answer myself, took 43 hours to max in Diablo 3.
Do you remember how many times that person had to repeat the same exact content to reach max level in Diablo 3?
Iit rhymes with Diablo 3. :hearnoevil:

Jebuz, I'm only at 31% :( don't think I'll get it for august. Especially since I'm not PvPing yet.

Guardians are goddamn powerhouses. On my elementalist, I had to be really careful if an enemy was 2 levels higher than me or I'd splat. My guardian takes on groups of lv +3/+4s without breaking a sweat. Probably gonna main this. They're probably not nearly as good in WvW since melee.

The chests contain novelty items that turn you into a cow. also, the keys are obtainable from normal quests. I've opened 9 chests so far with keys I got from world events.

Lotts people are butthurt about GW2 ITT. I suspect they're upset they can't play pandas in wow yet.

Traits improve the active ones.

I'm going Promethium Paladin. Zeal/Radiance. First trrait in zeal makes my aegis do burning when triggered, second lets me do +10% damage to burning enemies. On top of that, I have my virtur of justice that applies burn every 5th attack, judges intervention that is a teleport + AoE burn and Purging flames that's a circle of burn. Most of the time I'm better off keeping my virtues untapped for more burn procs.

In radiance I'm grabbing the boost that makes virtur of justice blind when activated and the trait that makes my blinds deal vilnerability as well, followed by searing flames for a chance to remove boons whenever I do burning.

I imagine the final build will look a lot like this

BY THE EMPRAH, I WILL CLEANSE YOU WITH HOLY PROMETHIUM!
