All my alts.

Only i could write something like this: because its a lie, right?

"PVE: - Most quests or events are "kill x number" or "Get x of y item" which gets really really boring. - The story has NO meaning, I feel like punching my character and killing all the characters I help when I do the story. - Dynamic events are a joke. What's a dynamic event ? It's a quest in an area that is repeated every 5 minutes. - I do like how the story changes based on the choices made, but the story itself is really bad. PvP: - sPvP is fun at first, but it gets boring. Too repetitive"

"Well... To be bluntly honest... This game is a Pay2Win Korean Microtransaction Grind MMORPG, masked behind the Guild Wars name. You can buy XP Boosts... I mean really? Asian MMO written all over it. Not too mention the crafty way they try to hide their "buy gold item shop". Basically you can buy "Gems" from the "Gem Store" for real money, then take these gems and convert them to ingame gold to buy whatever you want."

"Events are a cluster **** of nonsense and don't scale with the number of people. So basicly you get 5 centaurs for a 40+ group of people"

"Seriously, GW2 is a totally failed game. Boring quests like any other cookie cutter MMO, collect and kill, then deliver useless junk to cheap forgettable characters. Combat system is like 2003 WoW. Another medieval setting, laughable story, pathetic voiceacting, laggy as hell and graphics look like from 2006 at best. Cash shop will rip you off with treasure chest keys. No way, keep away from this one"

some of those people actually have valid complaints. Def not you :smug:

So do i understand correctly that PvP is completely separate from he rest of the game but WvW is connected because you have to use equipment and skills found/learned on your "adventure"?

Initiation into Priory: Complete.
Do we wanna find a time and place for a seafarers run into the catacombs? Or should I just find a group of random puggers to roll with?

Afaik your stats scale in WvW, but you still have to unlock skills with skill points and traits from levelling. I don't know about sPVP, but in beta you got auto-levelled to 80 and had all skills/traits unlocked when you entered sPVP.

Although I do wonder how those people played WoW in 2003 to have a combat system like GW2, it's downright mystifying. So much butthurt over a new MMO.

Oh well, it's to be expected really. Every single MMO ends up having the "Lol, look at us, we're better than WoWfags" hours-long circlewanks, and then there's a bunch of direct opposites that spout equally stupid, but usually more mis-informed bullshit because, well, most of those aren't even playing. I get it, being negative on Codex is fairly normal, I was trampling the ME corpse without playing it, but eh, I knew enough about the "franchise", and from evidence, to know that it's shit and that I can simply laugh at it. 'sides, though my EDGE is way higher than these flavour of the month edgies in the thread, I've never taken it upon myself to speak out of ignorance on topics I had no fucking idea about. Still, the butthurt-baiting in this thread is pretty amusing - though the cool outcome of that is that this thread is now officially bigger than both SW ones combined.

Also, for valid complaints, I think that ANet did a good job with overflow servers, but they also need an overflow launcher. It could have like pictures of kittens and videos of kissing animals and then inform the user that their connection to main server is now available!

Just checked tonight, and you're correct on the sPvP. All skills, weapons, runes, sigils, and traits can be changed and added for free. Its a pretty slick system that ensures there isn't a gear gap disrupting good PvP. I tried WvW and it was way too laggy at the time for me to participate. Seems like good ol' large battle zergs though.

I played WvW and only got 6fps so its not really playable but it seemed like nothing but retards spamming spells without any strategy. The only funny shit was me running up to the castle walls as a thief and using the Mortal Kombat Move to pull them off into our horde. funny as shit

speaking of the devil, i think overflow is a bit fucked up anyways atm. haven't seen SR pop go above low, but still end up in overflow every goddamn time i go someplace, and the overflow is always thrice as full as the server map proper when i finally make it to it.

Yeah its going to be just crazy zergs most of the time if you follow the main horde. A small group of people could probably do caravan and supply shelter raids. The real fun from WvW will probably come from when guilds will start coordinating defenses and attacks. For now its just going to be some servers rolling over others until the server rankings stabilize.

I'll spend some time in there, but sPvP is where the real fun is at.

Sounds like large-scale PvP in just about any MMO I've tried. Sometimes there's a sweet spot where there's just enough people around to make things hectic. But more often than not it's a group of 4-5 people stomping stragglers or 2 megablobs spamming AoE abilities at each other.

Yeah, there's something fucked up about it.

SCORPION WIRE, fuck I'm loving that skill. It also applies all the debuffs of any effect fields you pull your target through.

Also, 3W isn't that much of a gank fest, unless you're strayed from the main body of fighers too much. Much harder to actually murdernuke someone.

Speaking of conditions - save yourself + contemplation of purity is a blast. Absorb all debuffs from nearby allies onto yourself, then convert them into buffs. Everyone is cleansed and you become a powerhouse.

I'm talking about the purple named weapons on one of the tabs of the pvp vendor. They have like, lower damage than the normal gold[fixed, raw news] ones.

that's because purple is a quality below gold.

white: bare item
blue: common
purple: uncommon
gold: rare
green: unique
that's the way it was in gw1. gw2 uses grey for junk, white for common, blue for fine, green for masterwork, gold, orange, red for legendary and purple for mystic supposedly, with purple being kind of an oddball, apparently.
:retarded: looks like i know nothing. foiled again. damn you anet, damn you. :fistshakesmiliethatwearemissingDUmakesomethinghappenrightnow:

edit: the reviews between 2005 (GW1) and now (GW2) don't seem to have changed much. :smug: i still remember the tears:

- waaaaa, GW1 is just instanced so it's no MMORPG!
- waaaaa, i can't use all my skills at the same time, so it's shit!
- waaaaa, you can't jump or swim, so banal!

well, the last one at least did change.
now it's more along the lines of "- waaaaa, i have to jump so much for the vistas and still can't reach them".

Jesus chreist. That first dungeon. Ulduar has nothing on that.

It's not that the encounters are complex. But a misstep is pretty much instadeath.

Hehee, did a few larger events today, and a jumping puzzle in the kes-sexy hills. That was fun.

the lovers encounter in the first dungeon utterly wrecked us. I don't wanna count the repair costs. But there were a LOT of them. Eventually we settled for nuking the girl and using boulders to knock the guy away from him. Kiting the girl around the trees still got us instakilled with homing lightinig bolts. The other boses were sort-of doable, but there was still a shitton of deaths and runbacks midfight. Our party composition kind of sucked, mind you. 2 deeps-specced guardians, 2 rogues and a mesmer. If we'd had someone specced for healing and I had had a set of toughness/vitality gear, we might've fared better.

Well... pvp could be awesome as all shit but sadly (and take notes edgy faggots) it almost feels like the Skills/Traits were designed by somebody who knew nothing about the rest of the game (or vice versa)

There are cool as shit skill builds possible in pvp (and of course pve but who gives a fuck) but sadly (even though you are pulling these combos and shit off some times) it just feels to much like an overpaced clusterfuck.

To be fair i thought the same of LoL when i started playing it.. Maybe when im aware of 5 trillion skills/sigils/etc it will all make more sense and allow for more strategic gameplay. As it stands im having fun but it could be so much better. I'm quite impressed by the skills and shit. Really fun

Okay so my first alt seems to be a Guardian.
What's a good leveling weapon? Currently using the 2h sword.

My main is now 54½. I would have liked to see some new enemies. Feels like it's been too much risen/centaur/bandits.

Zed I've been using 2h sword and mace/shield secondary if I needed to be tankier while waiting for my healing sigil to come back online. Hoaxmetal says he swears to Scepter/torch in both PvE and PvP but I honestly didn't like it at all. Hammer suffers from its symbol being on its third basic attack with a really slow windup. Although the knockback interrupt can be handy vs some enemies. I wasn't too thrilled with sword. Staff is... Weird. Kind of turns you into a support machine.
