Anything known about a security breach at Anet?

I keep getting email notification that someone tried to change the password, now the email address on my beta account. Not that I care, because I didn't buy it, but deffo fishy.
I had that as well. Not a security breach at ANet, I think we're both victims of Blizzard hacked database, I am getting this shit to both of my Blizz-associated emails, of which one isn't associated with ANet in any ways. And no, it's not open beta related either, since I applied to it with 5 accs, and of them, only 2 are being bombarded. Also, GF is using a non-WoW acc and isn't getting any scams.

And yeah, they can request the PW change, you know, they enter your email and say "OMG PW FORGOTTEN" and then you might or might not click, either way some morons will authorize and they'll gain their accs.

So... Yeah, I'd say it's Blizz-side.
Blizzard also did 9/11 imo (fwiw I used a different email for the gw2 beta than my bnet account)

Last email I got states that "The e-mail address for your Guild Wars account has been changed" despite me not clicking on any of the links so yeah.

GW1 wasn't an MMO, so no surprise things like that could work.
I'm glad we agree that GW1 was a better game.

We don't. GW1 bored the shit out of me in the first hour I played it. Good thing I bought a full package of a game I'll never play again.

Yeah, ToEE was boring as fuck too. Have to think and shit. Diablo 3 is much better. Just kill everything in an area in the most mind-numbing fashion and move on.

P. weak strawman bro, you'll have to try harder.

Also, yes, ToEE starts out incredibly boring, or did you have a raging erection all through Hommlet? What? No? Okay. Difference is, Hommlet was beautifully drawn, there were tiny secret hooks that you could find and yeah, I kinda like low-level D&D so it was still worth sitting through. I could also emotionally engage when my temp-buffed paladin married the farmer's daughter and got a raging flaming sword of awesome after their wedding night.

GW1 OC, on the other hand... I wasn't into PvP back then, not really, so the main aspect for me was PvE, which was boring as fuck. Crafting was pretty, um, weird? Combat was, well, somewhat okay but at low levels it's just boring fucking faceroll, or running away from a crowd of Grawl because hey, no way to not chainpull that group. Landscape was pretty enough, but also very generic in its own way, standard high fantasy with korean flair #31423525; armour design I'll not even talk about because just walk into a hub and holy shit what the fuck, weeaboo convention. Didn't help that the characters you roll all look like emo faggins.

So yeah, I wonder why I gave that game a skip while I liked ToEE, what a mystary that is.

GW2 start is totally intellectual, I see.

Did you even get out of pre-searing? The searing immediately transforms the fantasyland into a desolate wasteland.

And if you didn't try PvP then you completely skipped over the better half of the game.

1. WTF why did they remove click to move? You know, what every good player in GW1 used because drive mode was laggy and imprecise? Guess what, in GW2 it comes with even more lag, and it's the ONLY option.
Yeah, no, WASD works fine and is not laggy.

3. More random UI complaints: Changing health bar to a crappy health circle thing?
OH GOD THEY CHANGE I CAN'T HANDLE CHANGE

Locking WEAPON SWITCHING and SKILL SLOTS until a higher level?
Oh God, locking things until level 10 out of 80.

6. You can attack while moving. Tremendous dumbing down of the game. Movement was a huge part of GW1, now it's free. Now I don't even have to break attack while dodging 100% of enemy ranged attacks.
You don't dodge just by moving.

8. QUEST POINTERS! Yes, GW1 had quest pointers, WHEN YOU TOOK THE QUEST. Now the map has pointers for skills and locations you haven't even found yet.
Only after you reach an area and visit a Scout.

9. Clusterfuck as hell battles. Just from the tutorial I can see large group play will go from a high-coordination activity to AoE spamming groups of people.
So, playing with a random people that you run into results in non-coordinated clusterfuck activity. Your [Perception] is very high.

11. Too many non-skippable cinematics. Yes, I know everyone loves these.
You couldn't find the "Skip to End" button? Unless you are talking about the two unskippable cinematics in the tutorial, which probably are the only unskippable cutscenes in the entire game. Which leads me to think, why the fuck are you writing a 11-point post based just on the tutorial?

Is there any significant content I'll miss by only playing Human and Bigger Human characters?
What kind of question is that? No, only humans and Norn have unique content, the rest just twiddle their twats.

I'm not all that interested in the god-awful looking furries, but if there are any starts which aren't as derpy I'll take them.
I find everything about humans BSB but Norn are cool.

Already have. Guess what? It's still not a 1/10th of the hundreds of skills available in GW1.
The point was that Elementalists have 20 skills to use at the SAME time. Not switching out of combat.

Can't even call it death now, all that happens is you fall down and slowly regain life while still being able to hurt enemies.
If by slowly regain life, you mean that enemies target you and finish you off while you're in downed mode.

Oh and when you hurt enemies you aren't regaining health simultaneously. They are different skills.

Aside from the number of skills, the worst thing is that the skills are just plain worse. Take a look at the mesmer skills in GW1 then look at the ones in GW2. I try not to break down in tears, but it should be impossible for anyone who played GW1 to avoid doing so.
Yeah, just look at the interesting clone mechanics in GW1.

Did you even get out of pre-searing?
This is an ironic question given the amazing review of the tutorial you gave.

And if you didn't try PvP then you completely skipped over the better half of the game.
Something tells me you haven't tried PvP or WvW in GW2. More irony.

Appearing out of nowhere right behind your back is respawning.
considering the best tactics in gw1 missions and quests that involved waves of enemies usually happened to involve camping the points where enemy groups spawn out of thin air, i don't really see what you are arguing in favor of here...

Weren't you reading his post? He didn't even get out of the starter zone or he'd realize how ludicrusly fast you can open all utility slots and train the weapon skills.

Of course he didn't play any PVP or he'd know all skills are unlocked whenever you're in the sPVP lobby. You make it sound like he'd actually play GW2 for PVP. He's just here to sit in the starter area and whine about WoW being better like all the other sad losers that got mocked during early start. :P

Yeah, no, WASD works fine and is not laggy.

Maybe you are used to bad games. There is at least a 200-300ms lag between pushing the key and movement. It's very jarring.

3. More random UI complaints: Changing health bar to a crappy health circle thing?
OH GOD THEY CHANGE I CAN'T HANDLE CHANGE

Didn't say it was a big change, but it is a shitty one. You can't tell easily at a glance what % of health you have left.

Locking WEAPON SWITCHING and SKILL SLOTS until a higher level?
Oh God, locking things until level 10 out of 80.

Shitty decisions are shitty decisions. It's evidence that the game is being dumbed down so that retards don't get confused. If this was the D3 thread everyone would be laughing at how pathetic a developer Blizzard is but when Arenanet does it suddenly it isn't a problem?

6. You can attack while moving. Tremendous dumbing down of the game. Movement was a huge part of GW1, now it's free. Now I don't even have to break attack while dodging 100% of enemy ranged attacks.
You don't dodge just by moving.

You can easily dodge ranged attacks. Haven't played GW1? Or were you just bad at it? Because you should have learned how in before the tutorial was over. Dodge one way, then when the ranged attack is fired immediately dodge the other way. 100% miss chance if you do it right. Won't work for instant hit attacks obviously, but I can easily dodge about 75% of arrows (the 25% being mostly a problem of shitty controls).

8. QUEST POINTERS! Yes, GW1 had quest pointers, WHEN YOU TOOK THE QUEST. Now the map has pointers for skills and locations you haven't even found yet.
Only after you reach an area and visit a Scout.
I'll give you that as a mitigating factor, but the fact that they exist at all is a problem.

9. Clusterfuck as hell battles. Just from the tutorial I can see large group play will go from a high-coordination activity to AoE spamming groups of people.
So, playing with a random people that you run into results in non-coordinated clusterfuck activity. Your [Perception] is very high.
If PvE is based around random people running around in a non-coordinated fashion then that is how I will judge it.

If those are the only two unskippable cinematics then I will let it lie. I reserve the right to judge anything.

Is there any significant content I'll miss by only playing Human and Bigger Human characters?

No, I am used to FPSes. So either you're imagining things or your connection is shittier than mine. The only 'lag' existing is the mouth smoothing.

Didn't say it was a big change
When you list items by number without mention of priority, then every point is weighted the same.

You can easily dodge ranged attacks.
Not in GW2 by just walking around, retard. You don't dodge projectiles in GW2, unless you walk behind someone/something.

Shitty decisions are shitty decisions. It's evidence that the game is being dumbed down so that retards don't get confused.
How is it dumbing down if you still get the full slots by level 10? Don't be dumb.

How the fuck are you even judging aspects of a game based on the first 15 minutes? Seriously.

I'll give you that as a mitigating factor, but the fact that they exist at all is a problem.
Hm, thinking about it more, I am siding with your point; would be better to have hidden stuff to find on exploration.

On the other hand I read that there are hidden secrets to be found. At least in Lion's Arch.

If PvE is based around random people running around in a non-coordinated fashion then that is how I will judge it.
If you play PvE with random people you will play with random people. If you play PvE *gasp* with guildies or friends you might be able to coordinate stuff!

Did I say unique content? I said significant. Reading is the hard?
Okay, please explain to me how race's content can be less significant than the other.

Nigga you gone full retard. I've never even played WoW. And when did I say I've tried PvP in GW2?
So you complain about mechanics changes on paper before even trying them in the proper context. Makes sense bro.[/quote]

Oh, I did play post-searing as well, and even tried the other campaigns. Nope, still not my game; and post-searing it's still fairly generic, just with a twist of omg, cataclysm. I did really try to give it a fair shake, but in the end I just had more things to do that were more interesting to me at the time, or at least had company. Maybe if I had company in GW1 it could be different, but eh.

If true, then it's a problem with GW2 servers being crap in my area, because GW1 has no such problems.

Didn't say it was a big change
When you list items by number without mention of priority, then every point is weighted the same.

"more random UI complaints" - just a miscellaneous category that I stuffed a few minor quirks that annoyed me. I shouldn't need to have a 1-10 scale of how pissed off I am for each facet, readers can surmise as much based on the context.

You can easily dodge ranged attacks.
Not in GW2 by just walking around, retard. You don't dodge projectiles in GW2, unless you walk behind someone/something.
Do I need to make a video? I'm watching arrows fly wide and do no damage constantly.

Shitty decisions are shitty decisions. It's evidence that the game is being dumbed down so that retards don't get confused.

What logic do you think is behind locking skills early on? Developers think that giving players more than a few skills at the beginning will make the game too confusing for idiots. Ergo they lock the skills early on to make the game easier for said idiots.

If those are the only two unskippable cinematics then I will let it lie. I reserve the right to judge anything.
How the fuck are you even judging aspects of a game based on the first 15 minutes? Seriously.
I'd played almost two hours when I wrote that post. Up to that point there was something like 4 or 5 cinematics, and nearly half of them were unskipable. Do I need to finish the game 7 times before commenting on what I see? I never said my issues were a definitive list of what was wrong with the game, just what was annoying me at the time.

Yes I've heard about those, and I like the idea. I just don't like that you can know all about things like where to find skill points. GW1 had the wiki with very detailed information about where you could find any skill, but it was separate from the game.

If PvE is based around random people running around in a non-coordinated fashion then that is how I will judge it.
If you play PvE with random people you will play with random people. If you play PvE *gasp* with guildies or friends you might be able to coordinate stuff!
But GW1 let me play alone with henchmen/heroes in a coordinated fashion. This is a definite step back. If I was to explore the ass-end of nowhere for no particular reason I'll have a hard time getting a coordinated group together.

Did I say unique content? I said significant. Reading is the hard?
Okay, please explain to me how race's content can be less significant than the other.
You seem to be misunderstanding what I'm asking. I didn't say any race's content was significant. I was asking whether there were significant differences at all. For example, in GW1 there was significant extra content available to Prophecies starts, with a half dozen pre searing areas. There was not significant content available to Factions or Nightfall, the only thing you really missed out on were a few training quests.

Nigga you gone full retard. I've never even played WoW. And when did I say I've tried PvP in GW2?

I don't believe I mentioned PvP at all in the context of a complaint. It was merely in response to Angthoron's post about dumping GW1 and not even trying PvP. I'll certainly give GW2 PvP a fair shot, but I don't have a ton of hope at the moment.

Sounds like it.

readers can surmise as much based on the context.
Maybe if you improve as a writer.

Do I need to make a video? I'm watching arrows fly wide and do no damage constantly.
Please do. I just tested and it only really works with slow projectiles (aka not arrows or bullets) and of course not with homing ones.

Funny thing is that while I was testing, the NPC shot a boar because I went behind it, and the boar aggroed him.

What logic do you think is behind locking skills early on? Developers think that giving players more than a few skills at the beginning will make the game too confusing for idiots. Ergo they lock the skills early on to make the game easier for said idiots.
So? It's still not dumbing down as long as the game plays properly eventually, especially at level 10 out of 80. Dumbing down is when features are locked or removed, period.

Yes I've heard about those, and I like the idea. I just don't like that you can know all about things like where to find skill points. GW1 had the wiki with very detailed information about where you could find any skill, but it was separate from the game.
Agreed.

Oh no things are different must be a step back.

Make friends.

If you've made both a human and a Norn, then you can puzzle together how much significant differences there are in the other content. Hint: The amount of significant difference might be similar to the difference between the human content and the Norn content.

Why the fuck are people that stupid that even when they're determined to hate it they go and waste 50€ on it.

Eh, I can get the reasons for that, it's like "Fuck, I just wasted 50€ on this?". On the other hand, instead of just being pissed, might as well take a bit of time and look around. As I said, I did try to give GW1 justice, but it was just not my thing, even though I did take a peek at things, and even then, I'm not pissed off at paying a bit of cash for it.

Actually the main reason I couldn't get into GW1 was because I kept on using henchmen and heroes and it was just soporific. Probably would've enjoyed it if I put the extra effort to form parties.

If you went with pugs, you probably would've hated the game even more unless you have some great tolerance for idiocy and being bad at video games.
