There's 0 reason to take melee chars with dark, not just because dark magic is so much better than melee but also because all the mass buffs are on the light side.

Isn't melee generally inferior in M&M 6 and 7 anyways? That seems to be a popular sentiment.

Not in 7 (i never got to 6 endgame, dungeons were too tedious, so I can't comment). without the crazy dark magic spells melee is better if you're playing light side thanks to the insane bonuses from hour of power

That's not good news. I found some dungeons tedious even in 8, which I gather has the lightest, shortest ones... Maybe I should play 7 instead?
Or maybe you should try out call of duty...just saying.

dont, mm7 was designed around invis usage.
And dont listen to anyone claiming it is not so. They even created quest around it on soy side.
To annoy you even more - while you are urged to use invis everywhere, last location doesnt permit it
removes your armor and weapons even

As soon as you get yer ass into the Lincoln you can redress everything again, and in the shoals you can just gun & jump around that huge area since those sharks arent that hard..

Brother, I have a cumulative score of around 3000 hours playing various CODs over the years... :D

So, it's going to be MnM 7 obviously, just going to use my GOG version. Should I bother with that widescreen patch nonsense? Anything else I should do apart from the GOG installer?

I only use invisibility early in the game (trying to sneak past behemoths in those narrow tunnels was one of the best experiences I've had in any game). once you have access to the eeofol well, teleportation and gm magic resist you can faceroll all the content

another "great" feature of 7 is that you can kill the dragon on the beginner island then abuse savescumming to loot his corpse over and over again (the corpse doesn't always disappear when you loot it so just save everytime you loot and reload if the corpse disappears). you can leave the beginner island decked out in high level loot

I do save scum him only for a decent artefact to boost my early game.

Honestly, I'm still playing from time to time my old box version and it's fine (mm6 is not due to impossibility rebind keys in vanilla). So, if you for some reason despise mods - don't bother.

I will never get that idea. It's almost like using save-trainers etc. Maybe it's about the abusing process itself? Or feeling of cheesing through entire game in general? That's also implies to superstims kills in Fallout, robbing traders in Arcanum and many more similiar examples, I just don't get it, for me it's like killing enjoyment for free.

Killing the dragon isn't easy, the attempt usually ends in having to reload. I like big challenges + big rewards. no different from sneaking through narrow tunnels full of behemoths with invisibility and praying to God your collision box doesn't touch theirs to get access to late game areas as early as possible.

Difference lies in messing with the core game mechanics (not RPG-system mechanics) or not. Killing the dragon is fine although it's clearly not intended by the devs (with ranged-oriented party it's pretty easy though). Save-scumming in order to abuse a loot bug (I'm sure it is or if there's a legit chance to get "extra item" than it's strict save-scum abuse, not much of a difference) is not, in my book, anyway. Getting an "average" reward like some gold and some high tier item is one thing, packing all the way - is another (compare to Arcanum again - killing trader and taking all his gold is fine but milking him every day via his personal key - sure as hell not).

Using legit invisibility spell to complete any quest early is perfectly fine to me, since it falls within player's strategy. Turns out, some say, game has designed around that spell, after all.

Playing WoX right now. Is there a keyboard command for selecting what enemy to target? I'm using keyboard for everything else and it's annoying to use the mouse for one action.

edit: just remembered that when looking at quests, U and D for Up and Down don't seem to work, so I guess that's another time I use the mouse.
Late reply, but if you haven't found out yet know that you can use numbers to move through targets (1 is the top of the enemy list).

Also very late reply, but you can also use tab to cycle through. There is nothing in WoX that requires the mouse, and imo the game plays waaaaay more fluidly with keyboard only.

wall of mist?
I got that right then. But invis there isn't mandatory. Player can just ignore mobs and heal all the way (or kill them for no exp on the dark path for prom quest).
LoL invisibility works perfectly, you could exit and recast it after every key. You just have to keep them in your inventory and use all three at once. Also it is a great place to grind stats. The middle one if i remember correctly(the one where you are spawned on a tower) has a bunch of barrels and the level resets them every time you exit/reenter. So you could get like 20 stat points every 2-3 minutes of wasted time. It is good for rounding up stats and maybe if you play solo char.

Has anyone gotten MT-32 emulation working with the ScummVM version of World of Xeen? The DOSbox version has rather glaring lag issues with the mouse. ScummVM runs it perfectly except for crappy default midi/soundblaster audio.

Well, that's actually interesting, but I had zero problems with this, honestly, and most of my runs (7-10 I guess overall) did manage to do all 3 keys whithin one non-GM invis spell or in case any fk-ups simply continue and finish regardless. As for stat grind - has no clue about it but at that point I was usually checking both top alchemist shops for proper black potions to buy instead of any barrel "farming".

It is not about trouble,it is just that it is a lot faster and you skill all the useless combat and wizards annoyance. Also you don't need gm invi.

Skip, you mean? Sure, but I thought we're talking about necessity of using invis in the first place. As for GM, you can't even have it at that point because that instance used at both prom quests for mages (which is only class capable of getting it). I was just pointed out limited estimated length of invis there, that's all.
