I don't understand what's dark about burial fees. Burial is very expensive irl, with monument and taking care of the grave in thousands dollars territory. This business is also often prone to criminal activity.
So in game these fees is basically insurance pay that cover your burial by corporation you work in. Considering you're a colonist on a dangerous planet, what's so immoral about it?
Yet when streamers see this, they're like OH GOD, THEY PAY FOR THEIR GRAVES??
yes, you do pay for your graves, your relatives anyway when you die.

I need spiritual guidance, is it ok to use a corpse for fertilizer?
We're talking about far away future which doesn't have religion in our sense. (and religion they do have states that body is just empty shell, i.e. what Vicar states)
This is basically Recycling Tanks from Alpha Centauri. And again, you're on a dangerous planet where nothing grows. Burning all bodies and using ash as fertilizer seems like it makes total sense in scientific future. Many already choose cremation irl because it is cheaper than standard burial.
Is it somewhat troubling? Yes, like the whole death and burial topic irl.
Is it troubling considering the far future/scientific utopia (or dystopia)?
Not much. Basically, Recycling Tanks from SMAC. We're in space where resources are scarce.
