PlayStation boss ‘very excited’ about upcoming mobile games
PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst, who will become joint CEO of SIE on June 1, discussed the company’s progress on the mobile games front during a business briefing on Thursday.

“On mobile, we have been hard at work on establishing a very strong, very seasoned core mobile team,” he said. “We are really excited to extend our experiences to new audiences in the mobile space as well.
“We’re taking a little bit more of a measured approach compared to the more aggressive approach that you’ve seen on PC. That is because PC is obviously more adjacent to the core of our development than mobile is.

“Nevertheless, we’re taking a strategic approach, also in the sense of working with some of the leading companies in this space.” Hulst continued.

“We’re working with various partners such as NCSoft and we’re learning a lot from these collaborations.

“And let me conclude by saying that we’re very excited about upcoming title releases that we can communicate in the future.”

Last November, SIE and NCSoft announced they’d signed a strategic partnership which would see them “collaborate in various global business fields, including mobile”.

The announcement came a year after it was reported that Sony and NCSoft had struck a deal to create a Horizon MMORPG.

I'd like to see Sony shift back to the quirky, experimental Asian direction they had during the PS1/2 eras, but it looks as if they are sticking with the cinematic movie games for the foreseeable. That said, the Astro Bot trailer from the State of Play event reminded me of the old Sony.

Racist game. Where is my white guy representation.

Stuff like this is further proof if it were needed that the people who make and publish these games don't feel threatened by the prospect of any sort of backlash/mass rejection of their products. They are still turning out characters like the above despite all the talk about job losses, rising costs and various other risks in this industry.

CONCORD HIT WITH OVERLY NEGATIVE RESPONSE AFTER REVEAL

Concord negative response

The debut of Concord at Sony’s PlayStation State of Play hasn’t been as well received as Sony and developer Firewalk would’ve hoped. In the hours since Concord’s first trailer and gameplay were revealed, the game has been hit with an overly negative response from gamers.
As of publishing, Concord’s cinematic reveal trailer has a 76.99% negative rating while its gameplay trailer has an 82.39% dislike rate. And the comments from fans haven’t been any better, with Concord being panned for numerous things ranging from appearing like another Overwatch clone to having “no soul”.
“The cutscene sold me on an adventure,” said one commenter. “The very next words out [of] the developer’s mouth is 5v5 FPS.”
Said another, “It’s like Guardians of the Galaxy meets Suicide Squad meets Overwatch.”
Concord is a 5v5 hero shooter set in the new Concord galaxy. The game sees players take control of one of a number of “Freegunners”, each having different abilities.
“The Freegunners roam the stars taking high-stakes jobs on worlds across Wild space, where they face other fiercely competitive Freegunner crews,” game director Ryan Ellis said. “From match-to-match, you’ll form your team of Freegunners with other players and battle it out with rival crews to take home the reward across a variety of maps and modes.”
He added: “While our core gunplay will feel familiar to shooter fans, the versatility and variety of each Freegunner and their abilities makes it so aim and thumbskill alone aren’t always enough to come out on top.”
The game launches on August 23, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC.

If Overstrike was announced today people would be calling it a soulless Overwarch clone.

How things change.

Emulate the original Demon's Souls (the Remake is shit) and buy a PS4 for Bloodborne, if you must (not worth it imo).
