The new Xbox might become new Wii U, which people thought is just add-on or something for Wii, and it failed miserably... we can always hope so at least.
Why "hope so"? MS has been less shitty than Sony this generation. Beyond that, that's not gonna happen because of marketing. MS can and does market their products, Nintendo doesn't advertise anywhere near as much. The name might be dumb but the truth is that normals don't care anywhere near as much as you think they do about what something is named.

No point getting Xbox when every single game will be available for PC, so it's gonna be PC + PS5 combo for me.

It's not like Sony exclusives have been worth it either. What does it have? Beyond Gran Turismo and Bloodborne there's just shitty Naughty Dog SJW walking simulators. Call me when they make another Syphon Filter game.

Remarkable looking console, If they manage to give us that level of performance in a chassis that exhausts all the air out of top. Outstanding. Silverstone ravens are still the god tier for cooling.

You're looking at paying top whack for a Lian-li or Silverstone chassis that looks as neat and solid as that.

If you're talking about textures then yes,but no game yet can do the same level of dynamic lighting, particles, smoke effects, physics and animations as in the trailer.I think that's what makes a game looking like a game and a CGI looking like a CGI

Even the killzone 2 trailer from fucking 2005,name one game that has this level of smooth animations, physics and smoke effects:

Waste of resources.

As for the samaritan demo, Arkham Knight nailed that aesthetic and put it in an open world setting.

Yeah, it's clearly designed like a vertical PC case. Beyond the consideration of how it would fit in most entertainment centres, I also like how it looks. Not everything has to be angles like the PS4. With how this and the PS5 will need leagues more power than anything before it, they're gonna have to focus on cooling.
Microsoft appeared to put money into engineering and design to make the Xbox One X and this clearly.

It certainly removes a lot of skepticism about how they're going to have the rumored specs without heat issues. However skepticism about cost and power usage remains.

Zen 2 at 3.5ghz takes 65 watts, that leaves around 220 for GPU if you have a 300 watt console

Memes, aside.
It looks alot like a desktop pc tower.
And I've heard something that's plausible considering this design. That the console will be modular.
So instead of buying an upgrade after 5 years, you buy new hardware piece every 1/2 years to replace the old parts.

Console gaming has slowly been turning into PC gaming the last few generations, so hey why not.

A year away from release and they show a random box (which could just as easily not be final), no official specs, and a generic name for the product line (xbox series x/s as in "xbox x 2" or "xbox two s" -maybe?). This is a no cards on the table reveal. Until they put a price tag on some real specs (likely E3 2020) they're just playing information games with the competition.

MS has been less shitty than Sony this generation.
Always online drm for no real reason (possibly to lube up the consumer for a game streaming future), tacked on kinect bullshit, worse hardware price, moneyhatting publishers for timed exclusivity rather than developing their own.

What great shitty thing did Sony do compared to that?

Yeah, all the successfull and praised PS5 exclusives are just shitty walking simulators, but the mediocre Syphon Filter series is the pinnacle of console gaming. GTFO!

I liked New Vegas so I'm curious about Horizon Zero Dawn, also their Spiderman game (Arkham). Not curious enough to the point of spending hundreds of dollars on an underpowered, overpriced, underperforming, loud console again. Tried it with bloodborne.

The endlessly boring open world busywork sims Sony makes like Horizon and Days Gone are a very different thing from "open world" RPGs like New Vegas. Witcher 3 kinds of mixes both together.

Also, MS games come infested with microtransactions bullshit. One may not like Sony games like Uncharted or Horizon Zero Dawn, but at least they're 100% games.

Not sure if latest uncharted counts as a game, since it plays itself. I remember showing it to a couple of friends and us giggling at the absurdity of it

I agree completely and whip myself on the back for what I had previously stated; commercial success and critical praise is truly the best way to determine a game's value.

For this matter, I shall say that Fallout 4 is the best RPG of all time owing to it's 9.5 IGN score and 15 million copies sold.

Good job conveniently quoting only half of my sentence. What I meant was that it's rich bashing the PS5 exclusives, when you are all over the Syphon Filter series which were medicore at best, maybe with the exception of the first one.

How dare you speak of Syphon Filter like that.

What is sad is Resident Evil is now a better shooter than Syphon Filter. I'll let myself out.

I agree with everything you're saying, but the idea of a good Syphon Filter is pretty hot.

Ya'all will buy PS5 for the demons souls remake.
Bluepoint said that their next remake would be so different from the original that they liked to think of it as more of a "re-envisioning" rather than a remake. To me that suggests that they aren't remaking Demon's Souls since I don't think they would dare to change too many of the core aspects of a From Software game. It rather suggests that they are remaking an older game, from the the PS2 or PS1 era.

That said though, I definitely expect PS5 to win the exclusives war again. Although with all of Microsoft's recent aquisitions it will probably be a closer race than this gen.

I think its quite interresting that Sony and Microsoft's long-term strategies for their consoles appear to be quite different. Sony appears to still cling to the traditional idea of consoles; release a new box with upgraded hardware every 6-7 years, increment the number in the name by one, convince the casuals to buy it for the convenience and convince the harder segment of the market to buy it for the exclusives. Meanwhile Microsoft appears to be moving in the direction of making Xbox into a software service that runs on multiple devices rather than a physical box, with services like xCloud and Xbox Game Pass (Microsoft's attempt at a Spotify/Netflix for gaming, which I think has a lot of potential) and decisions like making all of Microsoft's first-party games available on Windows 10. The Series X sounds to me more like a branded line of prebuilt PCs rather than a traditional console.

Yeah I think Microsoft sees the future as a service model where you subscribe or purchase from their service and they offer a variety of hardware methods to use that service. Sony's more traditional approach might please traditional gamers on the surface, but you do have to wonder how it will go long term with more and more people falling in line with the idea of Netflix/iPhone methods for games.

PC gamers have zero reason to buy an Xbox either way. Only question is whether they buy PS5 for the exclusives.

If these new consoles supposedly won't have any loading screens anymore, then how the hell will they handle PC ports with all these various bottlenecks and different memory types/segmentations?

Will this be a return to really shitty PC ports?

Not sure what you mean, the PC will have access to the same high-end SSD specs. Also I doubt they're eliminating load times, that's just "consoles will have SSDs!" hype. If you compare the load times on something like The Outer Worlds it's literally like 90 seconds on console and 5 seconds on a good PC SSD, so when consoles get access to that it will feel like "no load times."

I do expect SSDs will be part of minimum requirements here soon though, for data streaming reasons.
