ParaPark's dank setting, beneath a pub in the city's rapidly gentrifying Józsefváros district, could have been lifted straight from Saw – the horror movie franchise said to have partly spurred escape games' popularity. Other influences include TV shows like Survivor, but most claim the format emerged from point-and-click PC games of the early 1990s.

IRL point-and-click adventure games are sweeping the nation. I'm planning on trying it out next week. Unfortunately it's 3D, subscription-based and doesn't have as single-player mode, but should be good for what it is.

The "3D" looks pretty :incline: to me.

That looks absolutely amazing! Anyone know more about the technique they are using to achieve that 2D/3D blend? I really liked TWW and was a bit let down by the 3D choice when I first heard about it, but now I'm completely sold.

Black Castle Productions officially launched at the beginning of July to fill the gap between low budget independent features and studio films. A partnership between, Producer Sabrina Cooper, Producer/Director Stacey Haid and Cinematographer Jeremy Noggles, the company will produce films in all genres, including horror, thriller, romantic comedy, documentaries and drama, with budgets that range between $5-10 million.

The inaugural slate of Black Castle Productions films includes: Phantasmagoria: The Movie a thriller with traces of horror and mystery following a young married couple who inherits an old Southern plantation, once owned by an eccentric 19th Century magician.

Phantasmagoria is co-produced by AFI alumnus Nikit Doshi and directed by the multiple award-winning Writer/Director Steven Shea. “As a huge fan of the game when I was in high school, we are all very excited to bring this film to life. We have taken what was great about the game and tweaked it just a bit. The changes we made were not only to help it cross over to film but also to update it for today’s audience who might not know about the game,” says Sabrina, producer of Phantasmagoria: The Movie. “We also have a few surprises up our sleeves, some things that actually have never been done before in our industry! Like I said, as fans of the game, we are all pretty excited about this project.”

Ugggh. How can a single franchise go from perfection (WW1) to the exact thing I hate in animation (WW2)? It looks like a Pixar movie.

The whole reason I played the first game was for the beautiful hand-drawn 2D scenes, characters, and animations. Fuck.

After all this talk about literary video games, we kinda figured that there would be a Franz Kafka game popping up and some point. Today, thanks to Laughing Squid, we know that’s a thing that’s happening.

According to the game’s developer, in a letter to Laughing Squid:

The hero named K. gets a sudden offer of employment. And this event changes his life, forcing him to make a distant voyage. To his surprise, the world beyond his homeland appears to be not as normal as he would think. Together with the hero you will experience an atmosphere of absurdity, surrealism, and total uncertainty.

inb4 complaints about the puzzles being "absurd and nonsensical".

I'd feel more inclined towards it if they added in another Age or something; there's only so many times you can justify playing essentially the same game just for new art assets, after all.

Probably trying to get more money for Obduction; either by reselling the game, or by increasing the return on investment in/getting some training with the Unreal 4(?) engine. Haven't heard from Cyan for a couple of months, actually.
