Probably good you skipped Oddbox. From what I heard the PC versions of the console games are/were a pretty sloppy port at release.

Not that I ever played the console games, but the first few games were very good and didn't feel like bad ports at all. Then again I'm not even sure which games were in Oddbox.

I was talking the ones that juuuuuust got ported to PC, Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath.

Munch has apparently been fully fixed by now. Still waiting to see what they're doing with Stranger, but they've promised major fixes as soon as possible. Makes me wonder what the fuck they were doing in the year plus they spend developing the port in the first place.

The problem with this Steam sale for me was is that not many worthy games were part of it and I already had them. Well at least Steam forced non-steam shops to have price cuts as well

Glad I got Mirror's Edge
It's DICE's only remotely good game.

Actually less -- think it was $0.75!

Oh and to anyone that bought the Fright Pack -- don't even bother downloading the Scourge Project. 6+ gig and the game is fucking awful. It visually resembles Mass Effect (Unreal Engine) and has the same cover shooter type combat but for an indie game they went way overkill on the graphics and cut scenes and whatnot and somehow forgot to make the game play interesting. Save yourself the time/bandwidth/hassle.

Codename Eagle was better.

Heh, I remember messing around with the demo for quite a bit, the graphics were pretty sweet and the gameplay was alright. Is the rest of the game as neat as the demo?

Europa Universalis 3 "Complete" $4, EU3 Heir to the Throne $2.

I think EU3 is probably too hardcore for my popamole brain, but some codexers might be interested.

I fully regret buying The Settlers 7. Even beneath all the Ubisoft nazi shit there's nothing good about it. I liked the menu song but that's about it. What a fucking waste of money. Wasn't even on a big sale.

Yikes, you paid full price for that? Thought it looked decent but definitely waiting on a massive sale especially considering it looks like a DLC milking machine.

So has anyone played Frontlines: Fuel of War? The concept seems interesting, and the price isn't too big a deal, but how does the game actually play? Any first-hand experiences?

Played it. It's really not worth it, multiplayer is almost completely dead due to lack of players, and even if it wasn't you'd be better off with Bad Company 2 for console popamole big map team based shooters.

So looks like Breach is being released, and it's on a 20% discount at launch. Dunno if that's a good sign.

The game seems like it could be nice, destructible environment and all, but is it really any good? Any opinions on this thing so far?

Eh, I don't really need another semi-generic FPS multi-player. If anything I would buy Monday Night combat which is roughly the same price, looks to have higher production value, and slightly different/unique game play (Dota-esque).

Also, weekend special is the two Penny Arcade games for $3 total. They also added the Sims 3 and the bundle is 50% off... but it's still like $90~

Which pisses me right off since I'd actually really like to have Sims 3 on Steam, but not for $90.

Eh you don't want Sims 3, I bought it awhile ago and it's worse than the second in terms (at least what I feel) of the interesting mechanics, i.e. passing down traits and seeing e-genetics work in action. In 3 traits are just randomly assigned rather than inherited. The rest is just house building crap.

Well maybe I like to play pretty pretty dressup, did you think about that? :rpgcodex:

I just bought both Penny Arcade games on Steam for $3.

It sounds like a combination graphic adventure and JRPG. It being a comedy game, I don't expect huge things from the gameplay, but how many RPGs do you know of that take place in a Cthulhu-drenched victorian setting?

I really like the game play of the Penny Arcade games but not wild about Penny Arcade itself. That and they were so unpopular Hothead canceled development of Episodes 3 and 4 (fuck episodic games anyway). Shame, that game play style would be great for other titles.
