Daily deal is Space Quest collection for $5. Kinda tempted even though I dunno if I'll ever get around to playing them, just because MAN I LOVE BUYING CHEAP ADVENTURE GAMES ON STEAM AND THEN PLAYING MAYBE ONE A YEAR. MAYBE.

Overall a good series. 3 and 4 were its zenith. Starts to taper off at 5 (only one guy from Andromeda did it) but picks up slightly in 6 (thanks to Gary Owens narration... although the plot is still fairly weak). There's a VGA remake of 1 in the package so 2 is the only one that's AGI graphics and a bit awkward to work through on modern machines (that said I believe there's a modern fan made remake of it).

Space Quest is AWESOME. Totally worth the 5$. Lots and lots and lots of glorious death await you. <3

Yup, picked it up. It'll go in to my gigantic adventure backlog which I ever so slowly creep through. Main reason I didn't back the Doublefine adventure Kickstarter, got so goddamn many adventure games lined up on Steam since I only get in the mood to play them once in a blue moon but almost always buy them when they're on sale JUST IN CASE.

Bah, you should have just sent me a message on Steam and I would have bought it!

Fear not bro! I'm sure that $15 will get burnt up during the summer sale! Probably. Then again I got surprisingly little last winter sale, but this time I'm gunning for Paradox strategy so I've got hopes!

Also, oh shit. I just noticed the Binding of Isaac expansion achievements seem to be up on Steam. Don't know if they're unlocking properly, but they're showing at least.

hmm, i'm thinking the space quest deal is US only? can someone post a direct link so I can check?

Bizarre, not wanting superior countries to buy and play almost 20 year old games.

Do the SpaceQuest games appear as multiple games (an entry for each game)? I'd play them again at some point but for now I just want to pad my numbers so I can overtake Ed.

I just want to beat Ed, then I can rest. So close, I've closed the gap from close to 200 to just about 40 games. I can taste victory.

I bought the second one to play co-op with a friend. It's definitely MUCH better than GTA, but it had some annoying crap, like you had to grind a ton of shit before you could do story missions, when you didn't care about the grinding and just wanted the missions. So if they did away with the grinding in Saint's Row: The Third then I'd say that it's very much worth the cheap price. I'm thinking of picking it up myself too.

It's basically a GTA clone with a shitload of sandbox/fuck around DLC.

Wait is there Steam library e-peen measuring going on here? NOW YOU'VE WOKEN THE DRAGON

And Saints Row 3 is good assuming you end up enjoying the ridiculous humor. The actual gameplay (On normal at least) is easy as shit, so if the over the top humor doesn't pull you in, then the only other major attraction is running around doing stupid shit. I really enjoyed it. Not as much for the slapping people with a giant purple dildo humor, but the writing and dialog in the campaign was often quite good. It's not much of a spoiler to say that in the first few minutes of the game you jump out of a crashing airplane, only to smash through the windscreen of the airplane as it hits you mid-air, grab a random goon, gun down more bad guys in the airplane, then sail out the back of the plane again and steal the goon's parachute and catch a companion and pull the 'chute and land safely. There's more similarly silly shit throughout the game which really made it a blast.

To put it another way, I spent something like $25 on the game and the "Season pass" DLC and felt like I definitely got my money's worth, even as short as the DLC is. Steam says I've got 35 hours racked up playing through the game and the mission DLC, and I intend to play through again at some point whenever I get a new video card for maximum bloom and eyecandy, and with a different PC voice for slightly different dialog.
