Played the Rune demo, and it was okay. A modern version could really do wonders, I hope HumanHead is working on one, since they kinda dropped the ball on Prey 2.

But yeah, not more worth than €2,50 sale.

You're not the only one having slight troubles with EU3 MHC. I figure out a little bit more each time I play it, but it's slow progression.

As for SPORE, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go there. It's a trap.

As an aside, I'm wrapping up Bastion (at least I'm assume I'm close to being done since I gathered most of the shards and the 'siege' happened). It's a fun little game but I still don't get the amount of hype it gets. After I played the demo I dubbed it 'Hack-n-Slash Braid,' and now that I've played it... it's still Hack-n-Slash Braid. The music is good, the art is good, but the game play is mediocre at best. I can see why it's appealing to console players, though. I'd say the main storyline only takes about six or seven hours. Then there's a bunch of side challenges you can do and I guess a new game+ after that but, eh. It's not bad but easily the most overrated game of 2011.

In hindsight, I wouldn't have bought it, not even via the Bundle -- I would have just cheaped out and paid $1 for the other games. It arguably represents what is wrong with modern gaming today: all the creativity/money went into the art and music and basically none into the game play.

Nope. I'm still far too bad at the basic mechanics.
This, and playing a Paradox game in multiplayer sounds awful to me. Could see how some people would like it but certainly not my cup of tea. I'm more of a "Compstomp in RTS" or "Straight boardgame port" type of multiplayer strategy gamer. Which is to say I barely even play those MP.

Well, I understand how the game works, my problem is I don't grasp what everything does. I.e. when I play as Denmark I can easily set goals and in broad strokes know how to get there, but I fail on certain fronts without knowing why, and there's still a shitton of options I have no idea how to benefit from.

One of the weekend deals is CitiesXL 2012, 75% off. Thoughts? I love city builders but have heard some bad things about this franchise. Also, I still giggle like a 12 year old when I read the summary at the top of the steam page (yes, I understand why it does that but still funny).
To build your cities, the version 2012 now offers a huge choice of nearly 1.

Played LIMBO for about an hour and I feel sorry for anyone who paid full price. Just another bland indie physics puzzle platformer... with no music. Inferior to Trine in just about every aspect I can think of, quite frankly.

I got it for free, but yeah, it's not worth the price, no way. I'm not sure it's a good game, however as an interactive experience it's pretty effective at what it does... it's damn creepy and the visual style really plays with suggestion and trickery. The lack of music is also really effective in creating a sense of foreboding and dread. I just don't think puzzle platformer is a great match for those ideas, especially as they aren't really executed amazingly well anyway.

Any opinions on Driver: San Francisco? It's apparently on daily sale on 75% off. I was curious about how it turned out.

I got the Driver game on the Xbox for almost full-price and don't regret it in the slightest. I don't know how it is for the PC, but for me it was an extremely fun game to play.

it's on my to try sometime list
all signs point to it being a good game that slipped underneath the radar

don't know if there's technical problems but you should be good for the worth playing factor

Thanks, it was on a similar list for me as well.

Cheers, thanks for infoes.

Guess I'll give it a try, doubt it'll dip below 75% on Summer Sale anyway. And it's on my 75% Off On Ubisoft Titles or No Sale list, too, so I guess I'm not going against my principles either.

Dragon Age Origins is offered at Origin for 5 bucks, and I'm wondering if its worth it, considering that some people here have raved about it.
I really disliked Baldurs Gate 2 and Kotor due to its cliche ridden plot, lack of moral greyness in characters and devoidness of meaningful c&c. Also combat became really just tedious after a while to me (in case of BG due to its frequency, in case of Kotor because you just spammed the same skill combos over and over).

Consequently, I didn't play a single Bioware game since then, but apparently the plot became with Mass Effect and Dragon Age a bit less black and white if I'm not mistaken.
So, does the price warrant handing out my credit card details to EA and wasting a couple of hours on the game?

It is well worth it. Don't you know it's the best RPG since Arcanum? :troll:

Honestly, it is very good. Fuck the haters. For 5 bucks it's a steal.
