Speaking of the new stuff being busted, Underrail. A patch just started downloading for Underrail, so I clicked to the game and saw 0 news, patch notes, or anything listed on my library page. I click the "Store page" button and the store page for the game has fucking patch notes and news. :argh:

Edit: HOLY GODDAMN SHIT. I tried restarting Steam because I thought "Well maybe something's busted and that'll get Underrail's library page working". No luck there, but Steam no longer puts you on the same game when you close the program and start it again. It just puts you in the generic library page. :argh::argh::argh:

fuck gaben up the ass and fuck steve jobs twice for starting the retarded trend of hiring dumbshit artists to design GUIs. steam is once again a bloated monstrosity (although it's been getting slower and slower by the year). I don't need dozens of videos or gifs streaming, all I need is a list of my games with a few sorting options and a fucking play button.

One upside is that Steam now finally allows me to see the 'Free to Play' games that I've played through the years and have been cluttering up my library. Now I can remove them.

How do you actually view all your games? I can't see 100 or so of mine but the filtering options are all unchecked.

That's nice and all, but this should not be necessary. The devs/publishers should be on top of this and have these assets ready.

Right now I'm seeing far too many games with no new assets, but before I start naming and shaming I'm gonna give this a week, see how many of them will finally get off their butts since it's been forced on everyone now.

-no-browser in shortcut command line or even the steam.exe (if you autostart when booting up) will disable the chromium functionality and thus the memory bloat. You can add the small mode thing Jenkem talked about a page ago to still get a functional minimalist library.
It will disable the shop as well, though. Guess you can just use your browser for that, or have 2 seperate shortcuts or whatever.

    -open steam://open/minigameslist -no-browser <- like so.

IMO they should disable all chromium stuff unless people actually click on the shop or library or whatever, and disable it again once shop/library are turned off.

I wonder if this stuff is happening because newer hires are smartphone junkies or what. Fucking annoying.
That being said, you can also group games by what you played most recently etc. Some ok featues in there.

Low memory footprint and speed + elegant minimalist design should be the standard to strive for instead of this crap, though. The Steam Store page has been a nightmare forever now, it feels like some shitty flash site from ages ago... And now the library has finally followed suit :/

Beyond being too heavyweight and slow, crashing a few times when it was in beta and missing basic options such as resizing the sidebar, I think it's alright. It fixes just about as many problems as it creates, unfortunately.

What "problems" does it create aside from leaving a few people butthurt for no apparent reason at all?

As for why people would like it, just look a few pages back when it went Beta and people Opted in because they wanted the Library Update:

    Yay!
They've cropped right mouse button options from games list.
No more going to game's forums from there, cause that would be confusing and we live in year 2019!

    edit.
Same if I want to check older news; have to go through community hub to see those.

Or don't and click the HOME button, then below single row of "wat's new" and "recent games" you'll see "all games" list ?

The top of the game page being spammed with friends achievements, which are mixed together with Developper activities is beyond retarded, friends shit shold be in the right panel, while your screenshots should be on the left panel, just above community content.

I googled a little and didn't see anything so I figured I'd ask, but is there any way to revert the Steam UI to somewhere around the 2010 era, or even before? Where it was very simple and straightforward with mostly text. I cannot stand this new UI. And as I am stuck on a sub-par laptop at the moment I'm finding this new update to be very taxing on my system. I shouldn't be hearing my laptop fans spinning up from opening my steam library.

You can disable chromium functionality and also force steam to boot in small mode, I wrote how a few posts ago:
<- but that does mean that you cannot access the actual store, for example, unless you boot steam up again with a different shortcut without these parameters, I think.

The -no-browser disables Steam's chromium functions and should help with your system issues.

    Rolling back to old version.
    Write protecting files.
    Disabling updates.
Blocking Steam from accessing its update servers.
