I could see myself getting this only if Steam sold it super cheap, cheaper than a comparable desktop, at a loss like Amazon does with Kindle. I would also need to be able to remove everything related to Steam from it.

Well, I'm not convinced about trackball, tried to use one once and it was an abomination.

Whatever allows one to make a quick (<1s) 180 immediately followed by precise shot in an non-consolized FPS should suffice for the mouse part.

Yeah, a good trackball can be extremely effective but they take a lot of getting used to. Not to mention that really good trackballs suitable for games are not very common. Supposedly the best ones for games are no longer made either
