The retarded ones will. Everyone with the slightest interest in the subject has heard over and over that people make a killing during sales where their price got slashed down to like 5$ and people started buying regardless of their intent to play it.

It depends. A lot of very popular games still sell amazingly, even with small discounts.

Majority of developers/publishers will still opt for the high discounts. Especially indie developers where most people just wait for them to be in bundles so even if you're only selling your game for $2 you're still probably making more money than you would being in a Humble, Indie Gala, Indie Royale, Blink, Flying, Bundle Stars, etc. There have been at least ten major bundles in the last two weeks.

So Cryengine has been ported to Linux, and Valve has released their Direct3D to OpenGL translation layer.

I know very little about how these things work, but I wonder if this will help Wine become more compatible. SCO

Wine and ToGL serve different functions (one translates at compile-time, the other at run-time), though it may be of use in porting Direct3D 9 games if people remove the Source specific references in the code.

Wine's actually pretty good so far. Actually managed to play through all of Dishonored without using any hacks, and only suffered a minor performance penalty. It annoys me when people instantly dismiss it when Linux gaming is brought up.

If Linux gaming actually takes off, I fully expect Windows games that haven't gotten ports being sold packaged with wine wrappers a few years down the line. GOG does perfectly well selling games with dosbox wrappers after all. It's mostly a question of someone finding the specific version and config a particular game needs to run, as well as wine maturing in general (and also getting more resources due to increased interest from developers).

Also, amusingly enough, older Windows games often run better on wine than on Win7/8.
