After speaking to one of the game's diligent translators, I can tell you that Brother None and Monty Markland aren't bullshitting when they say we haven't seen Wasteland 2's best material yet.
Yes that might be true. But you cannot expect a gamer to play straight through the 'not so awesome' parts for 20h. They are not me: a post-apo fanboy who does not care about anything else than post-apo theme.

It's in there from day one of the beta, as i believe.

Grotsnik the arm job... i mean quest is about sacrifice, revenge and the right 'arm' thing to do.

?Who will review Wasteland 2 for the codex and who will ask Fargo the hard questions a month after the game comes out?

I like the Codex 'duo' reviews. Hiver and Daedalos?

Hiver does not walk the Codex anymore after his spirit was brutally dissipated by a permanent ban.

I opt for Vault Dweller to make the the review for Wasteland 2

Also, historically, Vault Dweller has reviewed post-apocalyptic RPGs for NMA, rather than Codex.

I don't see why should this be a problem. Considering that he has a certain affinity and experience reviewing post apocalyptic RPGs and Codex donated a shit-ton of money to the project, it would be the perfect marriage.
And as busy as he is, if we ask him, I don't think he would miss the chance to review the game that is expected be the Messiah, the great incline, the mother of all RPGs twenty years in the making, this exquisite piece of reactivity - can't see all in one playthrough marvel.

I reviewed Fallout 3 and New Vegas for NMA; Lionheart, Space Rangers 2, Gothic 3, Mask of the Betrayer, Mysteries of Westgate, Depth of Peril, Dragon Age 1 & 2 for the Codex.

One of the things that made me fall in love with the codex was the Vault Dweller's Oblivion review.
It looks like he erased it from his memory.

Even if nobody expects a day one review from Vauld Dweller, there is a chance the game is so shitty that there would be no incentive to finish the game, let alone to write a review

We could have several reviews, too, no matter if negative or positive, as long as each of them is thorough and distinct enough.

I'm considering doing the review myself. No promises, though.
You know you are as biased as I am. So either thew Codex should find a unbiased person, or we should share the review. :3

My opinion is that it's okay to be "biased" as long as you recognize other people's biases as well and make sure your review recognizes their concerns.

For example, "I enjoyed X. However, I realize it has an issue Y that people who are fans of Z will hate, and this could be a problem for them."

Reminder that the Codex had four reviews of Fallout 3 published in November and December of 2008.

Just when you reached the performance to be acknowledged as a prestigious magazine, you want to fuck it all by having several reviews published for the same game like some amateurs.
The same review could host another point of view but to prevent this multiple review shit I am ready to accept just a review from a fanboy if that was be the case.

Vault Dweller is the best suited for this task hands down.
If only he would open his fuckin mouth to give us his input on this matter...

Has Brian Fargo payed off the codex yet for a good score?

Fargo is too well ointed in the art & intricacies of bribery to give a shit for the Codex score.

He's hoping to soon release the game he's been working on for years though, even apart from the whole time issue, do you think this is the best time for him to write a potentially scathing review?

I'm not suggesting he's a sellout or anything, just not sure he can afford to piss people off right now. Even a tweet from Fargo about the release of AOD could make a big difference to sales given the level they're hoping for. Perhaps I'm wrong and he wouldn't worry about this sort of stuff but can't help feeling he would feel more restrained than when he was just a guy venting on the Codex.

Infinitron's Wasteland 2 review punchline:- "While not an instant classic, Wasteland 2 is a great post-apocalyptic RPG that delivered on most of it's Kickstarter promises"

:d1p:

Roguey's review (published a year or so after everyone else after he has learned every exploit and metagames the whole game before starting the "review playthrough"): inXile are sexist, racist pigs that ought to lose their jobs, Brother None is a hack, encounters are boring and easy, system design sucks - Chris Keenan is no Josh Sawyer. The writing is terrible - Nathan Long should go back to writing comedy fantasy with boobplate armored women on the front cover. The ship of failure floats on a sea of excuses.

Is not about being a downer. I want W2 to succeed, I want InXile to make many more RPGs and to see sea and BN as high-profile RPG veterans. But I don't think that cutting them slack on everything and being satisfied with mediocrity is the way.

I expect more from them, that's the point.

You know the truth... you want another Tim Shafer "rolling his eyes at your comments" moment captured on video for future prosparity, don't you? :troll:

I only trust Vault Dweller to review it.
I love reviewing games (I'll be writing 2 reviews for felipepepe' book project), but I won't be reviewing Wasteland 2.

To be honest, there is a fairly good chance I won't like it (based on what I've seen so far) and if I write what I think most people will assume that I'm jealous/bitter/butthurt - take your pick.

Even on the Codex when I was saying things that should have been obvious to everyone - there is no way they can do a decent RPG in 18 months, the design of quests that were shown or given as examples seemed to be too simplistic, etc, many people felt that my opinion was driven by jealousy over the fact that Fargo is so successful and/or my own inability to make a game in 18 months. Now, those were just quick forum posts. A front page review? I'll be eaten alive.

Mandatory disclaimer: I'm not saying it's a bad game and I didn't pay any attention to the recent updates/changes.

Nah... I may bash W2 a bit, but the InXile guys are cool people. Even with all my drama, Brother None and Colin still agreed to write for the book, and I respect all of them as bros.

What a deluded man-child like Tim Schafer and most of gaming press don't understand is that criticizing one work is not a personal offense. Personally, I like when people criticize my stuff, either the book or in my day job, because it shows that they care. Apathy is death bro.
