Video games mostly have bad subtitles. In Witcher 3's case, far too small, too much at once running to the edges of the screen, captions of the English voices rather than translations of the Polish dub.Just play with the superior Polish voices.Got the game in a sale. Unlike movies and TV shows, English dub is the only viable option in games.
Almost certainly need to mod it, and it wouldn't solve the problem anyway, because there would still be too much text displayed at once, only over a bigger area. I subtitled three movies with abundant dialogue and never took this shortcut of cramming as much as possible in one set of time codes. Lazy!I'm pretty sure you can change the size of subtitle font, or mod it if not by default.
After crawling through the vast list of options that is available, I suggest that, in order to improve the experience given by the mod, reducing the endurance taken by the light and the strong attack by half. After all he is a witcher and not a grandpa with asthma. Removing the looting animations is also a must just for the sake of securing those precious seconds each time Geralt loots (It happens a lot).So I tried out the Redux mod, dear god it turns the experience from boring to awful. It has some good points: removing levels, unlocking all moves for signs and attacks from the start, better economy, throwing daggers from witcher 2 but on the bad side you get:
- A stamina bar that prevents Geralt from doing more than 3 attacks without getting blinded, breathless and staggered
- An over-aggressive AI that does fuckall without any sense or logic and almost one shot you
- Ah yes I forgot to mention the god awful HP bloat too
I think I will continue to try it out and see if it gets any better.
Now that is a mod I have to try out. Thanks for the heads up!I do appreciate that alchemy returns to its Witcher 1 roots with this mod, the fact that meditation is very immersive, the fact that ingredients are separated into categories like in Witcher 1.
You should try out the mod. It's very big and completely changes the gameplay in a different way, it's almost a new game. Some of the default options are good, others not so, but the mod is highly tweakable (I have been quick to criticize it, it's not a bad mod). So I suggest you look at the options first and modify it to be as you please. Now that is a mod I have to try out.
